Struggling with craving for a beer in the sunshine

Anyone else? Before I got pregnant I drank pretty regularly. I've been completely sober since 4+4 when I found out I was pregnant but this weather just makes me want to sit in the sun with a nice cold beer. It's driving me nuts Envy

I am just like you OP! Gonna stock up on non-alcoholic beer and lemonade at the weekend.

I have tried Becks Blue. That was nice. I found the Budweiser's Prohibition Brew non-alcoholic beer drinkable as well.
I will also try the Heineken 0% since it has been mentioned a few times on this thread!

Brewdog Nanny State gets really ratings, must keep my eye out for it (haven't seen it in my local Tesco):

Becks Blue is your friend!

user1483387154 · 20/04/2018 13:42

and another vote for Becks blue!

TinyTerror1 · 20/04/2018 13:43

Seems like I've got a lot of 'beers' to try! Thanks everyone for the recommendations, hopefully this will help get me through the summer without giving into the craving for real alcohol Smile And definitely good to know I'm not the only one finding it a bit of a struggle!

I don't drink and the best alcohol free beers I've found are Bavaria and Budweiser alcohol free. I can't stand Becks Blue, Cobra 0% or Brewdog Nanny State, they're all too chemical tasting

Lol, the article I posted gave both the Bavaria and the Cobra 0/10!

Yarnswift · 20/04/2018 13:43

Erdinger alcohol free weißbier.

Actually miles nicer than most regular beers.

sashh · 20/04/2018 14:00

OK we have beer covered, has anyone found a wine that is drinkable?

Bibijayne · 20/04/2018 14:11

Becks Blue and lemonade is apparently a good compromise... contemplating it this weekend :)

coffeeforone · 20/04/2018 14:24

I'd just have one - it wont do you any harm! I'm 18 weeks and I do have the odd bottle of beer, maybe once a fortnight or so. I might have one tonight thinking about it!

scrivette · 20/04/2018 14:35

Another vote for Beck's Blue - but also half a pint won't do you any harm. Just make sure that you drink plenty of water and don't get dehydrated in the lovely sunshine.

SavetheVees · 20/04/2018 14:38

Tesco do cans of 'low alcohol G&T' which are

Oysterbabe · 20/04/2018 14:44

I really dislike Becks blue, has a weird aftertaste. The Heineken 0% is pretty nice though.

n0ne · 20/04/2018 14:44

Bavaria is the best non-alcoholic beer. Tastes 99% the same, and they also do a Radler (posh shandy) version which goes down a treat in this lovely weather. Not for nothing are they the supplier of NA beer for US soldiers stationed abroad.

Noboozeforme · 20/04/2018 14:45

I stopped drinking 8 months ago (developed epllepsy).

I don't like blue Becks. I find it has a weird taste and much prefer the Heineken version.

Occationally I will mix non and normal beer together so that I can join in with a few beers rather than just one.

ZaphodBeeblerox · 20/04/2018 14:47

You have loads of great beer recommendations but if anyone is craving an alcohol free G&T - Waitrose stocks a couple of lovely alcohol free guns. Not quite the real thing but close enough to scratch that itch in the third trimester!

MinaPaws · 20/04/2018 14:53

I get Bavaria from Waitrose. love it. Tastes the same as any light alcoholic lager, but doesn't make you woolly headed. And only 50p a bottle!

FranticallyPeaceful · 20/04/2018 14:58

I don’t drink even when I’m not pregnant, but every time I’ve been pregnant I’ve craved a beer. Totally random!

unicornchaser · 20/04/2018 14:59

I'm off to Waitrose @ZaphodBeeblerox! Tried Tesco's one and it was just wrong! Too fake tasting. I will remain hopeful for the Waitrose one Grin

Ninjamilo · 20/04/2018 15:05

The only alcohol free beer I've found that tastes remotely like beer is bitburger.

Becks blue is vile.

If I've fancied a drink I've just had one to be honest, thoroughly enjoyed an ice cold Bud in the garden last night 😀

KTD27 · 20/04/2018 15:11

sashh no there are no wines which are remotely drinkable without alcohol in them. That’s the million pound idea I reckon. A decent non alcoholic wine. Apparently there was a hardy’s one available last year in Tesco which was lovely but they didn’t produce much and didn’t expect it so be such a hit and now you can’t get it.
I’ve tried lots and yet to be even remotely convinced.

TwittleBee · 20/04/2018 15:11

Really understand you! During pregnancy with DS my only craving was beer! I used to sit there sniffing at DP's bottles or make him order one so I could have just a sip. In the end I gave in to having a bitter-shandy a few times but it really didn't cut it and for me neither did any of the alcohol free ones. Becks Blue is by far the worst of the alcohol free beers and I think Nanny State I probably the better one I have tried.

Doublechocolatetiffin · 20/04/2018 15:15

I’d go for erdinger or franziskaner weissbeer. Both are really nice and can be found in Tesco or Sainsbury’s.

Personally not a fan of becks blue etc, but then I wouldn’t drink normal becks either so it’s just not to my taste.

DrWhy · 20/04/2018 15:15

I’m an ale drinker rather than a larger drinker, which is more difficult, I’d agree with the wheat beers being most tolerable.

Foggymist · 20/04/2018 15:21

Erdinger non alcoholic is lovely.

afrikat · 20/04/2018 15:36

Erdinger for sure. I massively missed enjoying a beer in the sun and that was the closest to the real thing
