I'm currently 7 weeks pregnant, everything's been okay up until now and my symptoms have been strong (much stronger than my previous pregnancy.)

I had an urge to go to the toilet around an hour ago and when I sat down there was a huge gush of bright, red blood. I tried not to panic too much as I did bleed slightly with my previous.

But now I have strong cramps. Coming and going every now and again, but becoming more frequent and they are incredibly painful. I feel like they're taking the wind out of me.

I think I know the answer, but does this sound like a miscarriage?

Contact your EPAU right away

Good luck Thanks

Emma198 · 09/04/2018 20:46

You read so many stories both ways. Call your EPAU or if you're really worried go to A and E. Good luck. X

HarshingMyMellow · 09/04/2018 20:54

Thank you both.

I've called the EPAU, they're generally useless and have told me to wait for a callback from the doctor or midwife.

I don't know if it warrants A&E, I'd feel like I was wasting their time if I'm honest.

Just need a bit of a handhold at the minute Sad

Thanks for you @HarshingMyMellow. Really hoping that you're OK x

Emma198 · 09/04/2018 21:01

I think it's fairly common to go to A&E, I know one of my friends did when she had a big bleed at 9 weeks (she's now 17 with a healthy baby) xc

GreenMeerkat · 09/04/2018 21:01

Holding your hand @HarshingMyMellow, hoping it's not the worst xx

CaMePlaitPas · 09/04/2018 21:06

You're in my thoughts and prayers - what an ordeal. Flowers

HarshingMyMellow · 09/04/2018 21:09

@Emma198 I didn't realise. If I don't hear back from the EPAU soon I'll consider it, the pain is becoming awful Sad

Thank you everyone xx

I'm sorry you are going through this I think call 111 now

Coffee3 · 09/04/2018 21:41

Hi Op,
I’m so sorry you’re going through this; it sounds very much like my miscarriages have started but it’s not necessarily a mc, some people bleed and go on to have healthy babies.
As pp have said, if the pain is manageable with painkillers then go to EPU for a scan tomorrow. If it becomes unmanageable then call 111 or go to A&E.
Take care

fraggle84 · 09/04/2018 21:41

I’m so sorry, is someone with you?

Pastaagain78 · 09/04/2018 21:45

I’m sorry. Do you have someone with you?

HarshingMyMellow · 09/04/2018 21:49

I've just taken some paracetamol and ibuprofen, cuddled up with a hot water bottle. Trying very much to breathe through the pain, it comes in waves almost like contractions.

My DP is at work at the minute so I'm on my own with DC, that's another reason why A&E isn't really an option.
Thankfully, Dd is asleep.

Thank you all for being there, I haven't told anyone apart from Dp so it's nice to have people to talk to. X

Can dp come back? You shouldn’t be in your own x

Sproutpie · 09/04/2018 22:02

Flowers I’d ask DP to come home.

I have had this with both a miscarriage and a successful pregnancy. With the miscarriage (10 weeks) before it was confirmed to be so, I was told by EPAU to go to A&E if bleeding through a pad or if there were clots bigger than a 50p, which, when it got to that point, I eventually did. Not sure if that helps. Take care x

HarshingMyMellow · 09/04/2018 22:10

I've asked him to come home, but he's stuck about an hour away at the moment. He's trying his best though.

Thank you for your support xx

I would try and get your DP home to be with you. Flowers

HumphreyCobblers · 09/04/2018 22:12

sorry, that crossed. Glad he is on his way.

cookiefiend · 09/04/2018 22:16

Ideally you need someone there. It is just like labour. When you feel the urge to push do- there will be a bit of relief from the cramping until the next one comes along. EPU said you may have quite a bit of blood (understatement) but if it is really pouring out get into the hospital. She said (and she was right) sometimes if if it is pouring a little the flow will stop after you have pushed out a clot.

I'm so sorry you are going through this- it is horrible. And such a shock for you. I was lucky in that we found out at a scan what was going to happen so had a few days to prepare for the physical event. Keep chatting here. This miscarriage association website is filled with much better information than I was given at the EPU.

Thanks
HarshingMyMellow · 09/04/2018 22:29

@cookiefiend thank you for your post. That's really helpful.

I haven't got an urge to push yet, but the pains are still relatively far apart at the minute. I imagine as the get closer then I'll start passing? I don't know. It's all too much at the minute, my head is spinning Sad

I had a miscarriage and was told at the beginning that if you’re soaking through a pad in one hour then you should go straight to A &E. I was also told that I shouldn’t be on my own due to the risk of passing out. Try to get someone with you and go to A&E. Keeping my fingers crossed for you xx

Wigglywigglywooo · 09/04/2018 22:34

I also agree about the miscarriage association. They are brilliant. Hope you’re okay xxx
