Morning sickness getting worse at 9 weeks...

Asking out of curiosity as I have horrible morning sickness (nausea and vomiting) which is getting worse. I'm 9 weeks and was hoping for it to start easing off soon (however not complaining as am just happy to be pregnant!).

Anyone fancy telling me their experiences with morning sickness? Smile

Horrendous nausea from 7-14 weeks. Then the indigestion started!!!

ShirlySue · 06/04/2018 17:10

@BlueUggs oh man...

Mine really peaked around 9-10weeks. It carried on until I was nearly 20 weeks though ☹️

LRL2017 · 06/04/2018 17:18

I got worse around this time. I got admitted at 11 weeks for it. I was told after that around this time is when your hormones peak. I got better at 16 weeks and didn't suffer in indigestion until the end and it wasn't that bad thankfully.

Cbeebiessavesmyafternoon · 06/04/2018 17:22

I had nausea from 6 weeks but started vomiting at 9 weeks. Eased off by 14 weeks.

ShirlySue · 06/04/2018 17:23

@OrangeHorses @LRL2017 sorry you went through that, it's really uncomfortable isn't it. Looks like I'm in for a rough few weeks!

@Cbeebiessavesmyafternoon oh man, the idea of 5 more weeks of this! All worth it of course but very uncomfortable. Thanks for your response.

Mine got significantly worse at 12 weeks and still bad now at 19 weeks

Anatidae · 06/04/2018 17:28

Started at 3.5 weeks, vomiting up to 50x a day, eased down to about 10x a day at 19 weeks and stopped when I gave birth.

Second pregnancy following similar pattern but worse - have already been hospitalised once.

ShirlySue · 06/04/2018 17:30

@popcorndiva hope you feel better soon

@Anatidae that sounds horrible, I'm so sorry. Do you mind me asking what triggered you heading to hospital? I considered going last night as I threw up 20X throughout the night but just stayed in bed all day today instead. Seems to have eased a bit but still can't eat.
Hope you feel better soon Thanks

From the moment I found out until 20 weeks 6.30am every morning. It didn't help I had to start work at 7am. Then I had the lovely glowing experience for about ten weeks. And then felt like crap until she came

ShirlySue · 06/04/2018 17:33

@Babababababybel14 not glowing yet! More like a spotty vomity tired mess. Hopefully glowing will start soon...

Most of my friends who just had nausea found it went by about 12/13 weeks.

My friends who had sickness it went mostly by 15-18 weeks.

Unfortunately I was still being sick ten times a day right up until they were born (was sick all through labour too).

I had twins though so not necessarily an average experience!

By about 20 weeks I just sort of gave up hope that it would get better and accepted it. (And carried mouthwash in my handbag)

We have several funny stories of me waddling off to throw up while in public and people being shocked that DH didn’t run after me to “soothe my fevered brow” while trying to take my lunch plate away because they thought I wouldn’t want it.

DH was like “she’s a pro now, she doesn’t need me. Don’t take her plate she needs to eat that before she starts being sick again” Grin

Most people’s do tail off, so don’t panic, meanwhile try to keep eating little and often, it makes a huge difference.

LRL2017 · 06/04/2018 17:35

It was worth it for my little girl but I like you at the time kept thinking how am I going to cope with this. Every day was a battle. I'm so glad it went as my brother got married the year I was pregnant and that's all I was worried about being ill there (thankfully it had gone by then)

ShirlySue · 06/04/2018 17:36

Thanks @Pennywhistle - I was throwing up all night last night. I ate half a cracker and gave up because I felt so unwell. Managed some bread and butter this morning and same again this afternoon.

Man this is rough!

@LRL2017 exactly! Hence why I said I'm not complaining (ok I am a little bit! But all worth it!). So glad it all worked out for you Smile

I was sent by the doc attached to my MW practice - if you’ve not been able to pee in the daytime for six hours or are incapable of keeping down food or fluids you need to go.

20x a day is not normal - go get some treatment and do not be swayed by the ‘its Normal nothing we can give you’ bollovks - the pregnancy sickness support website gives you guidance on how to treat and there’s a very supportive hyperemesis thread in here.

ShirlySue · 06/04/2018 17:40

Thanks a lot @Anatidae - I am on Stemetil but it seems not to be working (at all). It's funny because some days I am sick 5/6 times, some 20+.

Checking out hyperemesis thread now Smile

Congratulations!

I constantly felt sick / sick usually after brushing my teeth from 4 weeks or so till about 16 weeks + feeling absolutely exhausted, then from about 25 weeks indigestion particularly at bedtime, I've never had indigestion before so I didn't think I'd get it, I'd get some gavisgon in ready!

Pennywhistle · 06/04/2018 17:49

One point to note Shirly morning sickness isn’t really like normal sickness.

Normal sickness is your body saying “don’t eat something is wrong”. Morning sickness isn’t like that, you do actually need to eat.

Even if you feel rubbish and don’t want to, eating eg a digestive or a cracker can help you feel better.

It’s counter intuitive I know.

Crackers and digestives are good because you can’t really smell them. I often found if I had a cracker and waited a bit that made me feel well enough to manage some proper food.

Good luck!

userabcname · 06/04/2018 17:53

9 weeks was when the shit hit the fan for me. Vomiting multiple times a day everyday. Couldn't stomach any food - forced down dry crackers and toast which usually made a swift reappearance. Lasted until 20 weeks. Good luck!

ShirlySue · 06/04/2018 17:58

@Pennywhistle thank you!

@KatnissK thank you also. Fingers crossed it eases off sooner. Sounds like a trivial issue but I can't afford to take anymore time off work!

I had HG and 9-12 weeks with both my girls was simply awful! Was hospitalised loads and on a drip. It did ease off at about 15-20 weeks but I vomited all through both pregnancies and never felt normal again until hormones had settled down after the birth. Hang on in there, eat small amounts of bland foods often and suck on ice lollies to help with dehydration. X 💐

Motherd · 06/04/2018 20:50

I had really bad morning sickness but mine stopped after 12-13 weeks. It's the worst feeling! Have you been prescribed any anti sickness tablets? I also found my pregnacare vitamins where making me more sick! Try swapping to different vitamins to see if that helps! I got cyclizine as my antisickness tablets which helped ease nausea but did not stop me vomiting if I was feeling really bad. Also fatty foods made me feel ten times worse! Big hugs, hope it eases soon! Also congrats! Flowers
