I have to get the anti D vaccine at 28 weeks and have heard it's awful. I now cannot sleep because I am so scared of getting it. Is it really awful?

No it’s not too bad. In the bum or thigh so pinches a bit! You’ll be fine.

zaalitje · 23/03/2018 23:56

Had it a few weeks ago, stung a little whilst being injected but otherwise fine. Certainly nothing worth losing sleep over!

funmummy48 · 23/03/2018 23:56

I had it with both my pregnancies and never felt a thing. You'll be fine, don't worry.

TTCI · 23/03/2018 23:59

Oh thanks ladies I feel so much better lol be a nightmare when it comes to labour probably night and thanks again x

I had it last week was fine! Both pregnancies I have had it in my arm.

AmethystRaven · 24/03/2018 07:55

It's fine, over in seconds! It's steroid injections that can hurt a bit but even they're not too bad. Any discomfort is over so fast it's really not worth worrying about. Bending a nail back is much much worse!!

Melinda76 · 24/03/2018 08:23

I had to have 4 during my pregnancy - I'd convinced myself it was going to be horrendous as had been many years since I last had an injection and yes it did hurt but wasn't that bad 👍🏻 you'll be fine

Loraline · 24/03/2018 08:25

I had this on both pregnancies. Tiny pinch and done. Not a big deal at all.

KitKatCHA · 24/03/2018 08:27

Had all mine in the arm, stings a bit but definitely not worth worrying about Smile

TTCI · 24/03/2018 10:24

Thank goodness! I had heard HORROR stories about it lol.

MonkeyBrainsInPickle · 24/03/2018 11:38

It’s totally fine.

Misssmoo · 24/03/2018 11:42

Yeah guidelines have changed I've had it in bum and recently my arm and it was worse in the bottom yo me honest. Don't worry about it xx

SomebodysNotInBedYet · 24/03/2018 12:02

I had it twice in my first pregnancy and I don't remember it at all. Don't remember whether it was bum/arm/thigh. It was obviously a non event for me!

gryffen · 24/03/2018 12:36

Had it two weeks ago in arm and it was fine - get it 3x each pregnancy for some reason and that's ontop of b12, all the usual injections and blood tests we get.

Clevs · 24/03/2018 14:22

I had mine in my arm and it stung for a few seconds but nothing severe.

BabyBooDue · 24/03/2018 16:16

Had mine in the top of my arm, bit stingy but not too bad Smile treat myself to a cream cake after and I was grand.

GreenMeerkat · 24/03/2018 17:46

I had mine in my arm. It's nothing don't worry about it 😊

TheUbercornMum · 24/03/2018 18:41

Had one in the arm last pregnancy and it was absolutely fine. Hurt a little but I've not had an injection for a while. Fine afterwards. You'll be absolutely fine.

gamerchick · 24/03/2018 18:42

Do you know your blokes blood group? I refused to have it since my ex is negative as well. They got a bit stroppy but I didn’t see the point.

Rundemlegs · 24/03/2018 20:05

Just a bit stingy. Over very quickly and no pain afterwards.

WreckItRach · 24/03/2018 22:02

I had mine on Tuesday. Mine was in my arm, it ached for a little bit after but no different to a normal injection really. Don't panic, it's over quickly 😊

Lj8893 · 24/03/2018 22:06

I haven't had it but have been told it's not too bad.

But yes if your partner is negative blood group too (be absolutely certain!) then you don't really need to have it. Or you could see if you could have CFFDNA (you may have to pay, some trusts don't offer it as standard) to see what your babies blood group is first.

TheUbercornMum · 24/03/2018 22:13

Ooh that's the test I've been offered this time to work out if baby is a negative blood type.

Does anyone know if I am rhesus negative and DD is rhesus negative does that mean DH must be too? I could avoid another blood test GrinWink

Lj8893 · 24/03/2018 22:16

No it doesn't mean your DH is rhesus negative unfortunately.

Good that you have been offered the CFFDNA test though!

PetalMettle · 24/03/2018 22:18

I had to have it a few times (bled a couple of times) and it was fine. I found whooping cough hard...
