Just wondering
Mainly as getting uncomfortable (38 weeks)
And also the added fact since mat leave I seem. To be everyone's bloody taxi service and I've had about enough ( I know I need to start telling people to sod off,)

I'm planning on and hoping to drive as long as I can, also another short legs lady! I'm the only driver in our house and transport not great so need to carry on as long as possible, guess I will have to wait and see. I did find the adjustment but of my steering wheel helped, I'm 32+3.

wowbutter · 19/02/2018 18:40

26 weeks due to spd. I couldn't press the pedals without significant pain, and being able to stop suddenly worried me as I couldn't push down hard or fast.
I'm 38 weeks now and can't wait to drive again. Because bugger me it's driving me mad!

Strawberry2017 · 19/02/2018 18:43

I stopped at 38 weeks when I went on mat leave, I didn't fit comfortably anymore, I would have stopped a couple of weeks sooner but didn't want the expense of taxis to work as it was too far to walk and not on a bus route.

Pennywhistle · 19/02/2018 18:52

Pasta I had everything possible adjusted including the steering wheel. But I was huge.

Grin Sadly I couldn’t adjust my legs!

Ohyesiam · 19/02/2018 19:14

I didn't stop, but it sounds to me like you need to.

Tell everyone No, and put your feet up. Just say your HCP advised you to stop ( that would be meWink).

NC1990 · 19/02/2018 20:05

I drove up until 38+5, gave birth 38+6 Grin I didn't find it too uncomfortable but I didn't drive long distances.

toriaplum · 19/02/2018 20:17

I stopped at around 36 weeks with my first. Very much like a pp, short legs meant even after adjusting steering wheel and seat I couldn't reach the peddles and bump was rubbing the steering wheel. I was concerned what would happen if the airbag was activated. I have a new car, so we will see this time.

trilbydoll · 19/02/2018 20:20

I worked until 38+5 and then decided I was massive, sitting anywhere was uncomfortable and I was just going to lie on the sofa. So I pretty much did!

Bubbinsmakesthree · 19/02/2018 20:23

My waters broke when I was driving! Thank heavens for leather seats. Grin

Lavenderdays · 19/02/2018 20:24

I was thinking about this today 34+5) I have short legs and bump isn't too far off of the steering wheel now. I don't drive too far - mainly to get dd to pre-school but if I stopped driving, dh would have to take time off of work to get dd there. I'm thinking, though, I am right on the cusp of managing...trying to keep going for as long as possible but minimalizing driving now as much as possible; my bump seems vulnerable being so close to the steering wheel.

SaintEyning · 19/02/2018 20:25

I drove myself home from Tesco 12h before DS was born and - as it turned out - at about 3cm dilated. Then I think I drove the day after we got home from hospital (so 48h post-birth) as I was dying of boredom at home. I do have really long legs though so could still reach the pedals even with the bump. Didn't occur to me to not drive!

Steeley113 · 19/02/2018 20:26

I drove myself to the hospital for a check up at 40+4 last time and wasn’t let back out (had him that evening). I don’t think I stopped driving either time? I’m pregnant again and there’s school runs to do and kids to ferry about so I’ll be driving til the bitter end again! (Thank god for long legs)

Chienrouge · 19/02/2018 20:29

Just remembered I drove to my sweep and back (20 mins each way) at 40+5. Baby born at 40+6.

Momo18 · 19/02/2018 20:32

Never, I drove myself to hospital in labour with DD2, early labour though, didn't give birth till 8 hours later

Pompom42 · 19/02/2018 20:34

I didn’t stop just carried on. I drove to Tesco night before I had the baby the next day.
Must admit though I didn’t stray too far away from home from about 38 weeks

LulusMiniEgg · 19/02/2018 20:43

I drove until the day they induced me so I was 41+5! Dropped my DS at my mil who was looking after him while I went to hospital. Didn’t occur to me to stop.

officerhinrika · 19/02/2018 21:01

Short legs and arms so stopped driving the sportier low slung car with the hard to get out of seats but carried on driving the small hatchback with lovely sit up and beg driving position until the day before the baby arrived. Also the sporty thing had wide wheels and no power steering (I’m old) so was a bugger to be parking when heavily pregnant.

Pooshweens · 19/02/2018 21:09

I didn't realise that was a thing

SM2132 · 19/02/2018 21:15

I drove throughout too. My waters broke (slightly) so went to be checked out at hospital. They sent me home to return that evening. We went to the pub for lunch on the way home, I drove home as DH had a couple of pints. FIL was horrified!

CL1982 · 19/02/2018 21:25

I won't be stopping :)

flybabyfly · 19/02/2018 21:37

I stopped at about 38 weeks, mostly because of baby brain... I didn’t have any trouble reaching steering wheel etc, just found it difficult to concentrate!

Vitalogy · 19/02/2018 21:43

OP, could you move the back rest back a bit.

Landed · 19/02/2018 21:43

I got uncomfortable quite early on so stopped early.

annlee3817 · 19/02/2018 23:04

I think I stopped the week I was due, simply because my feet were so full of fluid and swollen with it, that driving was just irritating them further

Sparrowlegs248 · 19/02/2018 23:07

I didn't. Drove myself to the hospital to be induced at 9 days over due.
