How do people function in pregnancy???? Rant

Sorry just here for a rant really.
38 + 5 days pregnant and pretty sure I'm close to becoming immobile... getting up of the sofa is a humongous effort as is simply rolling over in bed, if I even eat a little meal I feel like I'm suffocating yet I can't stop eating everything around me!? I'm also walking slower than my 90 year old nan and it's still painful down below and feels like the baby will fall out not to mention the never ending rib poking, stomach cramps, back aches etc, someone else please tell me they feel like this. I know its normal and its nearly the end but I just don't know how people cope with going up to 40 weeks +. Pretty sure baby isn't coming out because he knows it's cold Hmm

I had my baby at 40+14 so I feel your pain !!

happymummy12345 · 16/02/2018 10:07

My baby was born at 40+6, after 4 days in early labour. I never felt like that at all. In fact I went to my mums on public transport, that I stood up on, and walked round the shops with her the day before my due date. I went back to my mums, also on public transport, standing up, at 40+3. I felt absolutely fine.

@happymummy12345 every pregnancy is different, you might not feel so smug with your next one. I worked right up until my due date with DD, I only stopped working as I felt that psychologically baby wasn't coming because my.mind wasn't ready. She ended up being 10 days late.

This pregnancy at nearly 34 weeks I am dead on my feet. I am looking after a 1 year old mind you (14 month gap).

Lavenderdays · 16/02/2018 13:46

Yes, I agree with your comment counting about every pregnancy being different - for me it has got progressively harder (now 3rd pregnancy). Second pregnancy was a dream compared to this one - I worked right up until a week before dd was born and was far more mobile. I also used public transport without a problem.
This time I have struggled with mobility and breathlessness (no specific cause found). Perhaps it is the fact that I am also fetching and carrying to a certain extent with dh's help after my two dc's who also need caring for instead of caring purely for myself. Second pregnancy, dd was school age, I think that was far easier than having a pre-schooler who is at home half the time x

I’ve had hg in both pregnancies so I’m useless from the start. I then developed severe spd in the first so I was even more useless. Look g forward to that in current pregnancy.

I dont know how people manage. Plenty seem to sail through glowing happily, the bastards. I suppose everyone is different.

The ‘I need a winch’ stage is almost done, hang (or slump) on in there!

Thanks happymummy - are you one of those charming types who finds it helpful to tell HG sufferers about ginger as well? :) fabulous levels of sympathy.

Dobbythesockelf · 16/02/2018 13:54

Oh god I hate it when people tell you that eating a ginger biscuit first thing will cure hyperemesis. I hate being pregnant. Hyperemesis at first then that starts to ease off and now I've got pelvic pain that I'm really hoping doesn't develop in spd again. Heartburn and constantly needing to pee.
If you are lucky enough to have an easy pregnancy then good for you but please don't act like it somehow makes you superior

Due 2 weeks tomorrow now... Every single niggle or pain or kick pricks my ears up thinking maybe it's a sign, its not lol. Maternity leave is BORING. Need to get out the house but no energy, can't binge watch tv coz my back kills sat/lay down for any length of time, i cant even eat to make myself feel better because i have no appetite. And compared to a lot of you I've had an easy pregnancy so massive hugs to all of you for coping with spd, HG, other kids etc i dont know how you do it!
Almost there ladies...

mintich · 16/02/2018 14:14

I felt hideous from 30 weeks onwards and she was 15 days late! I felt so good once I'd recovered from the birth.

Lavenderdays · 16/02/2018 15:27

Yes, sympathies to all of you suffering from HG or spd; I feel bad enough but that must be truly horrendous x

BothersomeCrow · 16/02/2018 15:34

Sympathy to all of you having difficult pregnancies!
People ask if I don't want more than my two kids because of childbirth - they look surprised when I explain childbirth was a doddle, but I am never doing pregnancy again! Even the first 8 weeks with a baby was better than pregnancy.

At least the SPD helped me get diagnosed with hypermobility and EDS...

Farmmama · 16/02/2018 17:38

I am 25 weeks and you guys are all making me fear what is to come!! I have just started to waddle and so the fear that I am only going to get worse is really kicking in. This week I have been SO hungry. No matter what I eat, I am still hungry after, and if I don't eat then I feel sick. Thankfully not as sick as I did up to week 18! Trying to stay active - walking the dogs, still riding my horse (probably the last weekend of doing so) and doing some easy weights in the gym a few days a week, but I know soon I'm just not going to manage. Good luck everyone, hang on in there!

dustarr73 · 16/02/2018 17:59

There is nothing worse than being 6months pregnant plus. Its awful.Waddling around.Getting up to go teh loo and a drop comes out.

I actually got stuck on the couch.I fell asleep and turned and got wedged.Everybody else thought it was hilarious.Fuckers.

Lavenderdays · 16/02/2018 19:19

It's horrible dustarr - I actually seize up if I sit for too long, then start hobbling around with my hand on my back like my 90 year grandmother used to do! I think getting stuck in the bath is my biggest fear.
