Paracetamol is perfectly safe during pregnancy.

Tinks15 · 07/02/2018 16:47

Sorry I should of said apart from paracetamol, is there any throat sweet you can have?

Throat sweets fine. I found honey lemon and hot water really helped.

kikibo · 07/02/2018 17:15

And just honey. Especially before bed. Just don't cough as that'll get rid of the protective film it forms on your throat.

PonderLand · 07/02/2018 18:19

Gargling warm salt water is meant to help. I heard it off post man pat so it must be true.

Don't forget to gargle!

Backenette · 07/02/2018 18:23

Honey, lemon, ginger.
Ice lollies

wheresmyphone · 07/02/2018 18:27

Can you take Asprin? If so gargle with soluable asprin. Works a treat.,

Backenette · 07/02/2018 18:27

No aspirin in pregnancy unless directed by a medical profession!

Hey @Tinks.
I’m 12 weeks pregnant and have had ongoing issues with my throat since I found out I was pregnant. At one point I was climbing the walls with how much pain I was in.
I googled and googled and googled. Tried most homely remedies out there. One that worked for me (although a little gross especially if you’ve got a dicky tummy at the minute) is raw garlic.
I cut it in half and placed it behind my lower back molars for one minute (swallowing the juices) then spat it out. Within a few minutes the pain had eased... but I stunk.
Hope you find relief soon, I totally feel your pain x

OddBoots · 07/02/2018 19:09

Unless it gives you heartburn pineapple juice really helps.

TheLionQueen1 · 07/02/2018 19:12

I have tonsillitis twice whilst pregnant and used tyrozets and a throat spray and both really helped plus lots of ice lollies!

bettydraper31 · 07/02/2018 21:36

Definitely gargle with warm salty water two or three times a day.

RightOnTheEdge · 07/02/2018 21:47

Oh I wanted to say tyrozets but wasn't sure if they were ok when pregnant, but TheLionQueen1 has taken them so that's good. They are much better than normal throat sweets.
Ask for them at a pharmacy.
Actually I found a warm drink like Ovaltine suprisingly soothing when i had an awful sore throat. Much more than cold things.

Hope you feel better soon OP! Flowers

mintich · 07/02/2018 21:49

I went to the doctor as my throat was so sore! I was told to have paracetamol and ibuprofen, gargle with salt water and suck sugary sweets.

Tinks15 · 07/02/2018 21:54

Thanks all. I not long ago gargled with warm salty water.
I actually have tyrozets in my medicine cupboard as I swear by those usually, but I didn't think you could have them when you was expecting. Maybe you can then?

I find boiled fruit sweets to be good, things like fruit Polos. They soothe without the medicinal taste.

I'm not a medic.

DropItLikeASquat · 07/02/2018 22:01

Jakemans throat and cough sweets, taste awful to some people (I quite like them, and they work great for sore throat, hacking cough, congestion etc.

treeofhearts · 07/02/2018 22:02

Cough candy is really good although unmedicated.

GELSIDE · 07/02/2018 22:04

Diflam throat spray!

ciaobella88 · 07/02/2018 22:05

Don’t think you can use diflam in pregnancy

TheLionQueen1 · 07/02/2018 22:12

Tyrozets say to ask doctor or pharmacy for advise if pregnant, the pharmacy suggested using them to me but another may say otherwise so worth checking!

Loosemoose28 · 07/02/2018 22:15

Honey and lemon lockets

Whichoneisit · 07/02/2018 22:26

Try gargling soluable paracetamol before swallowing it down. Other than that, only throat sweets.

Ohyesiam · 07/02/2018 22:48

Gargle with salt water. It works really well. I'm rubbish at gargling and it still works.

AndBabyMakes3 · 07/02/2018 23:58

Try gargling with Listerine menthol mouthwash; it really helps
