So the other day tried to 'prune' but as you're probably aware at 35 weeks it's damn near impossible lol.. Anyway lots of peculiar angles and done.
Today I felt a bit tender on labia, quite down low iyswim.. Between labia and knicker line.. Throughout the day its got so painful
But I can't see. Asked dp to look, charming lol. And he said it was an ingrown hair but was so red and swollen he couldn't see the culprit.
Now I've had the odd one in the past.. Which hot bath bit of a squeeze and sorted. But obvs can't have a hot bath.. Plus can't see to 'tend to it'.
Amy suggestions..its about an inch long and 1cm thick and a solid mass. Painful to sit etc.

You prob need it lancing and then some antibiotics. See the nurse at your GP surgery.

furryelephant · 30/01/2018 04:32

Try hot flannels I would! Or can you sit in a hot shallow bat (just enough to cover?)? Then get your DP to have a squeeze Grin

PastaOfMuppets · 30/01/2018 04:57

If you can't have a hot bath just hold hot compresses - it should soften it. Or go to the GP who will get it out.

Buxbaum · 30/01/2018 07:55

You can have a hot bath. Just leave the door unlocked and have DH on hand in case it makes you feel faint.

Abitnutty · 30/01/2018 08:43

Thanks. Tried getting a nurse appointment as it's now painful and it's a three week wait.. So will persevere with compress etc.
Dp would pass out if he had to squeeze.. Can see it being me and a mirror and a weird angle lmao

Get some magnesium sulphate paste, OP. Along with hot compresses it will help to draw it out.

Lots of advice over in sporner corner if you can face it...

Abitnutty · 31/01/2018 00:23

So this is now agony.. It's solid and half the size of a golf ball. Can't get an appointment. Boiled kettle hot compression.. Hot bath. Just found some antibiotics I was prescribed in Sept for a cyst on face. So have started taking them and applying antibiotic cream.. Will try ringing docs again thurs to see if any appointments? Even my pants are causing it to be agony I'm walking like John Wayne so it dont rub lol

PersianCatLady · 31/01/2018 00:31

Sorry if I am being thick but why can't you go in the bath?

Abitnutty · 31/01/2018 00:56

They recommend not having hot bath in pregnancy.. But did a very hot but shallow one to cover the area.. Can't sleep its so painful :(

You can have a bath up to 38c which is hot enough for something like this but even if you were to push it to 40c (deffo hot enough) as a bath cools quite quickly you will be fine. it is extended exposure to consistent hot temps like a hot tub that is not allowed as it increases your core temperature.

Gooseysgirl · 31/01/2018 01:16

Skip the nurse, get emergency GP appointment first thing tomorrow - you can't go on like that

Abitnutty · 31/01/2018 01:22

Yeah I'll try first thing but our gp surgery is useless . I think it's because it's more on the knicker line at side... Well it's swollen to there so it's rubbing and making it more sore.
RE baths. 40 degrees is cold to me lol. I have it just over. Oops may of been doing that wrong my whole pregnancy.
Just boiled kettle to put compression on it..
If I could see down there it would be so. Much easier.. Altho dp had a look and he said he couldn't see an ingrown hair as was so swollen and red.. Hopefully between now and getting an appointment the cream will help with compress and the antibiotics will start to get in system?

I'm not sure self prescribing antibiotics in pregnancy is a wise move?

MotherofaSurvivor · 31/01/2018 01:24

Yeah I second an urgent appointment. Call bang on 8am x

Abitnutty · 31/01/2018 02:06

They were prescribed in pregnancy in Sept for a cyst on face.. Gp always gives me a spare course just in case. So can make a start.. It's only flucloxacillin so perfectly safe..
And yeah defo will be ringing bang on 8.30am when opens. If can't get through I'll pop in from. School run xxx

It sounds like it might need to be drained. If GP absolutely won't see you then maybe see if there's a minor injuries clinic near you.

SS81C · 31/01/2018 09:47

Definitely push for an urgent/emergency appt. GP surgeries keep emergency appointment slots and this sounds like it's getting worse. Make sure you express that you're pregnant.... if they won't see you request a telephone appointment....
Second the minor injuries/walk in centre if you're not getting anywhere....or you could potentially try your maternity triage/assessment unit-they might not see you as not specifically pregnancy related but may be able to give advice.....and if you start to feel unwell with it (fever, chills etc) make sure you are seen urgently as could be sign of a worsening infection.
Hope it improves quickly!

CakeOfThePan · 31/01/2018 09:57

I had this when i was pregnant, i got an emergency doctors appointment and he referred me to a & e immediately!!!
They wanted to keep me in to operate the next day I shit you not!!!!!
But i didn't want a full anaesthetic when pregnant, so they did half a job under a local. It still occasionally causes me grief now. They then put me on antibiotics and i had to go every day to have the dressing changed (work loved that as it was a walk in clinic so i could be hours!)

So ummm don't mean to scare monger but get that emergency GP appointment!

PersianCatLady · 31/01/2018 10:16

AbiNutty
I didn't know that about hot baths in pregnancy. My DS is 18 now and I don't think that I harmed him but who knows?

I am sorry that you are so uncomfortable and I hope it gets better soon

HaHaHmm · 31/01/2018 11:03

Completely agree with PP. I don't want to worry you unduly, OP, but if you're 35 weeks then this is an emergency. It needs to be cleared up before birth; it could cause serious problems if it were to burst during a vaginal delivery or if it were close to a tear or episiotomy site.

Abitnutty · 31/01/2018 12:51

Couldn't get an appointment. Told them I'm pregnant etc..and they said ring in morning again! And to top it off. Tomorrow I now have hospital for a iron transfusion.. I give up.
Will ring minor injuries in a bit and see how I go about getting an appointment?

That is absolutely disgusting.

Did you tell them how pregnant you are??

If I were you, I would phone back and ask for a doctor to phone you back.

I think that maybe the receptionist is fobbing you off.

SS81C · 31/01/2018 13:47

Yeah that's awful.
Try minor injuries or maternity triage/assessment.....or if it gets worse/bigger/you feel unwell then a&e may be an option. Infection is a worry and you don't want to be going into labour with this ongoing.
Actually if you don't get anywhere and you're in for an iron transfusion tomorrow get one of the midwives to have a look....she should be able.to get a doctor to review....

PersianCatLady · 31/01/2018 14:50

a&e may be an option
To be honest, I would phone back the GP surgery and say to the receptionist that you may need to go to A & E as you are in a bit of pain and you are heavily pregnant.

I would also say that you were specifically trying to avoid going to A & E and that is why you are calling for a GP appointment but if they can't help you then you may have no choice.

Abitnutty · 31/01/2018 16:25

Rang them back up in tears as it's now bleeding and feel dizzy. Got me in for half an hour time..
