I found a large changing messenger bag became too heavy and uncomfortable on my upper back and so switched to back packs.

The free boots baby club one is actually really good if you can cope with everyone knowing it's a free boots one! I intend to get that again for the pram just in case I venture into the city but mostly hope to use a back pack.

I have loved the north face one we got as it has padded flat internal pockets for a laptop and iPad (Been used loads since our if nappies) which was actually really handy for leaflets or nappies or wipes. And outer drinks pockets. I didn't ff but there's enough spaces to put all sorts of stuff, including tiny pockets for random bits.

Friends found these really clever small fold up changing mats that could hold wipes and a couple of nappies that easily slotted into a back pack or normal large handbag, which I might to get next time.

Later on I got a small radley slim handbag for my daily handbag which is really useful.

Early on your change bag becomes your handbag so dedicating pockets or sections to your stuff can be helpful, though this time of use the radley and the back pack. It's useful if the backpack can in some way also hang off the handle bars of your pram.

(Radley was off eBay! Best eBay purchase ever!)

This is what friends went for over a huge bag. So they had that and their own normal handbag or back pack.

I only used the sling in the first 18m or so. A backpack is great for this- I needed a decent sized one to fit cloth nappies, bottles and several changes of clothes for a sicky baby. Once I started using the buggy more I used the free one from Boots. It is still going strong and DS is 3.3

I have a skiphop bag which I love.

I highly recommend looking in TKMaxx as the bags are reasonable prices and not the £70 that is quoted for many changing bags.

I've got a yummy mummy bag that I've used for years. I like the straps to go over the handlebars of the pram rather than a rucksack style and they look good as well as spacious.

And it was a lot cheaper when bought from Amazon.

Melobaby changing wallet. Holds up to 4 nappies, contains a wipe wallet and a changing mat, and has a small compartment for nappy cream or nappy bags or whatever other small bits you need.

Folded up it's not much bigger than a purse, so you can stick it in your normal bag or under the pushchair and go.

I just bought the Tiba & Marl backpack and I love love love it!!

I used a normal rucksack. Nothing is as simple and straightforward as baby in sling + rucksack - go everywhere hands-free.

Having the ability to put a bag on the pram aswell as a rucksack I think is invaluable. It would irritate me only having a bag I could use as a rucksack

You can just sling a rucksack over the buggy handle by its straps. Or buy a buggy clip for £5 and clip the rucksack on.

@Ekphrasis, we liked the Boots change bag with my first but they don't do them anymore :(

I have a melobaby melotote, I mainly used a sling to carry my daughter so needed a big bag as couldn't put anything under a pushchair. I really like that's it stands upright when you put it down. Seems like a silly thing, but it makes a difference!

I use it as my main handbag now. I always used to have small bags but now I love having a massive bag that fits all my lunch in it and stuff I need for work. When I go out with my daughter I add in a nappy wallet, and snacks, drinks etc.
