No, that's not a thing. Eat it.

BigBaboonBum · 01/01/2018 13:29

They’re absolutely fine!

ScarfAndGlassesgirl · 01/01/2018 13:30

You'll be fine...women in India have babies all.the time

I partook in many a Indian takeaway during pregnancy

FrostyThirties0 · 01/01/2018 13:30

No you’ve made that up. Ginger is encouraged because it can reduce feelings of nausea.

LuchiMangsho · 01/01/2018 13:30

India has the highest population growth rate in the world. There is ginger in almost everything. It's fine!

Hoppinggreen · 01/01/2018 13:31

The Spices are ok but make sure you use one with good hygiene levels as the biggest risk wouid be food poisoning ( still minimal though)

pastabest · 01/01/2018 13:31

They are fine.

The most annoying advice for early pregnancy nausea is 'have you tried ginger' so I'm surprised you have found anything anywhere suggesting ginger is bad.

To that end you really need to stop googling otherwise you are going to have a miserable pregnancy. Just follow the NHS guidelines and perhaps read Emily Oster's book 'Expecting better' it's great for pregnancy food related anxiety.

Women in the subcontinent presumably eat curry?

Also ginger helps with morning sickness in some women.

PurpleDaisies · 01/01/2018 13:37

There’s a load of utter crap out there on the internet.

Stick to proper sites like patient.co.uk or the nhs site.

WazFlimFlam · 01/01/2018 13:38

You should be careful taking ginger supplements in very early pregnancy according to some herbologists, but actual ginger is fine. Ask a pharmacist if you are worried.

PurpleDaisies · 01/01/2018 13:41

Got a link for that waz?

demirose87 · 01/01/2018 13:44

The spices are ok but make sure all meat is cooked through so there's no pink. I've noticed a lot of the lamb dishes contain pink. Also order from a takeaway you are familiar with that you know has good hygiene.

EvilRingahBitch · 01/01/2018 13:45

Very hot curries are recommended as a means of bringing on labour (presumably though their effect on the bowels) so I wouldn’t recommend anything hot enough to have you dashing to the loo the next morning. But a gentle curry from a place with a good food hygiene rating should be fine.

Hesburger · 01/01/2018 13:53

Uh oh - I have eaten my weight in gingerbread this holiday and we had an Indian takeaway last night...

I ate lots of curries last time as well with no issues.

confusedhelpme · 01/01/2018 13:59

Ginger can reduce nausea. I ate it raw throughout my pregnancy

lollipop7 · 01/01/2018 14:00

They’re fine.
Frankly I’m surprised my third child didn’t come out eating a chicken jalfrezi

SweetheartTreacleTart · 01/01/2018 14:53

Indian take aways are fine, I would be more concerned about the hygiene rating of the establish that's all.

gamerchick · 01/01/2018 14:54

You’re not googling every single ingredient you’re eating are you OP? It’ll be a hungry pregnancy for you if you are.

cliffdiver · 01/01/2018 15:05

It’s fine as far as I’m aware.

If you are one of the peculiar people who eat the accompanying salad then I’d give that a wash first.

nousername123 · 01/01/2018 15:27

All I've done since being pregnant is eat curry. No problem at all. Just be conscious of rare or uncooked meats and unpasteurized cheese etc. It says it all on the NHS website x

Microwaved111 · 01/01/2018 15:30

I ate curries weekly throughout my pregnancy, sometimes more than once a week Blush

Why on earth wouldn't you? It's not going to do anything at all

user1499451561 · 01/01/2018 15:45

I'll remind myself in future not to post on this app as all you get back is sarcastic not needed comments!!!! We are all anxious first time parents once over people should remember that Hmm

Bloody hell, OP. You asked for advice and you got it.

Is this your PFB first baby?

pastabest · 01/01/2018 16:00

Why did you ask then if our advice was not needed?

You asked if ginger was ok, we said yes.

I suspect you are right though and mumsnet is probably not the right app for you.

CL1982 · 01/01/2018 16:22

I hope they are-I think this baby is part curry 😂 It's one of my main staples this pregnancy.
