Has anyone been induced with Propess? Getting impatient!

Propress inserted 2 hours ago and just getting tightenings here and there. I’m already getting impatient!

Before propess was inserted I was already 1cm dilated.

Is there any hope for me for this baby to come tonight?!

My post has failed to send thrice now!
I had my pessary around 2pm as I recall, lost my plug that evening and I gave birth about 10pm the following night
It was a good experience, very gradual at first which was nice as I had heard horror stories about being induced making things too quick and leaving the mother in shock... but this was nothing like that.

Thanks @BigBaboonBum Was really hoping she’d make her arrival today but I guess I’m in for a longer journey and hopefully she’ll come tomorrow.

It can happen quickly. You never know! I personally had gel and sweep induction at due date +10. He was born 24 hours after going into hospital even though I was told it could take days with it being my first. Good luck x

Sleep if you can! I was also frustrated with waiting so I went to sleep which seemed to kickstart my contractions. I was glad I had slept because I was in for a long harsh day!!

I got my propess put in around 1pm and my waters broke just after midnight that night. By 4pm the next day I was only 2cm so they started the drip!

Honestly I’m so bored!

Good idea - I’ll try have a nap and hope my oxytocin levels start rising

Yes - first time it took 49 hours.

Second time - 3 hours!

If it’s first baby it could take 24-30 hours to get labour started.

I had the propess on day 1 (39 weeks), contractions started immediately, which were uncomfortable but not the full whack.
They checked 24 hrs later (day 2) and gave me another propess
24 hrs after that (day 3) they broke my waters, which finally got things going properly. I went to the delivery room that night for epidural (highly recommended!) and drip.
Ds was born in the early hours of the next morning, day 4!

It was definitely the longest 4 days of my life, I hope it’s much quicker for you, but I’m telling my story to say don’t psych yourself out, I spent the whole time on edge, desperately hoping my baby would arrive in the next few hours, which on reflection made me very stressed and exhausted.
I wish I’d have just relaxed and been a little more patient!

Yes. Nothing for about 8-10 hours, then 3 hrs of horrific agonising contractions, a lot of puking and an EMCS. Hope yours gpes better! Mine was fine in the end.

Pessary at 12.30pm. Baby born at 3.45am, so just over 15 hours. Sounds a long time but didn't feel it. Contractions started about 5pm.

But it was my second and I was 10 days overdue.

I was induced by it and was hyper-stimulated by it. From the beginning, I was having 8 contractions in 10 minutes.

Still took 24 hours for DS to arrive cos he’s a lazy so and so lol

Yes, the propress is just to soften the cervix enough for your waters to be broken and the drip put on, it’s usually left in for the full 24 hours. Mine was uncomfortable too 😕

So many varying stories! It’s so frustrating as I’d rather be told “it’s going to take X hours till your waters break and you’ll be in labour for Y amount of time”.

Still here and nothing really happening except for the odd tightening here and there.

Pessary at midday, and DS arrived around 8am the next morning. Contractions started properly at about 6pm and ramping up about 9 or 10pm.
Do try and sleep, I hadn't slept the night before (anxious) and obviously didn't sleep the night he came - I was exhausted and fell asleep between contractions which slowed everything down!

DS was born 24 hours after the pessary and DD was born within 12 hours of having it. My advice is to keep moving - laps of the hospital, bounce on a birthing ball. It worked for me.

DD turned one yesterday. Her birth was the most wonderful experience, especially as it all happened so quickly (she arrived an hour after I went down to delivery).

I was told I could be in for days as DD was my first. Pessery inserted 12pm, waters broken at 6pm, delivered at 10:17pm following an hour of pushing. Fingers crossed it speeds up for you! And good luck!

Thanks everyone! Yep @NutellaCookie I have been bouncing on my birthing ball like mad. Currently strapped to the heart rate monitor but when I come off it I’ll do a lap of the hospital and continue with my bouncing.

Just bear in mind that a lot of stories talk about pessaries instead of propess, the 2 are very different things. My induction was 43 hours from start to finish, could have been 10 hours quicker had all my waters been broken when they first put the drip on and not just my hind waters!

Mine took 61 hours from propess to delivery. It was exhausting and ended up with forceps.

Contractions have started! They’re irregular and I know they’ll get more painful but we’ve moved on from the ‘tightenings’ stage. Huzzah!

What do you mean fruitcider? I understand it to be that propess is the (shorthand) name of the drug, that is administered as a pessary, so people are referring to the same thing, as in this article

Hi. Me and my wife are expecting our first child. We had our scan today and the results where that we are 14 weeks gone. The baby is 81.4 mm in length.... However the worrying stat is that the nural translucency is at 3.5mm due to this they have referred us to a cardiology scan to check on the babies heart and also say that we have a 20% chance of our baby have down syndrome...... My wife is 32.... I was just wondering if anyone had relatable stories that they could give some advice on how worried we should be or if there is anything we can do to help the little one..
