No morning sickness

Hi everyone,
Just joined and hoping from some advice from people who have been there and done it.

I'm 39 years old and pregnant for the first time after 10 years of trying due to unexplained infertility with my partner. I am 8 weeks 2 days gone and I feel no different to normal.

I have seen all kinds of reports and posts on the Internet that say that having no morning sickness or nausea by 12 weeks means that you are much more likely to miscarry or have a baby with birth defects. As I am a high risk pregnancy due to my age, weight and hyper tension, this has got me really worried.

I just wondered how many others had had a nausea and sickness free pregnancy that's resulted in a healthy baby? Or knows anyone who has.

Thanks for taking the time to read x

I was just coming on MN to start the exact same thread. I'm only 6 weeks but petrified something is wrong as I feel exactly the same. In fact, I feel great if anything!

I got a BFP at 3 weeks with my daughter and sickness started by week 5. BFP at 3 weeks again this time but absolutely nothing. It's making me so anxious. So I know how you feel @Becca8112. Great to hear so many positive stories.

Congrats on your pregnancy and thank you for starting this thread!

I had 2 healthy babies at 40 after unexplained infertility - not even a smidgeon of nausea!

I started a thread about this just a few days ago - and I'm dead-on 8+2, too! I have also been panicking a lot (I have a history of miscarriage) about having no morning sickness and generally, as you say, feeling normal. Do you happen to know whether your mum did? It made me feel a bit better when I chatted to my mum and she said she'd had two very easy pregnancies with very little nausea, and no physical sickness. I am still very anxious, though. I'm having a second scan on Tuesday (first one at 6+4 was the first good scan I've ever had!) and am so, so scared they'll say the heartbeat has stopped.

Here's the thread I started - there are a load of stories of people who had no sickness on there, which I found really comforting and hopefully you will too: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/3104376-No-morning-sickness-at-7-5-weeks?pg=1

Hi everyone,

I'm in the very very early stages of pregnancy ( 3weeks!) and I am having a real mix of morning sickness. There are times when I feel awful and can't eat anything. Then it disappears and I feel okay. Is this normal? Thanks!

This makes me feel better as I don't have much morning sickness, just mild nausea (at 6 weeks).

gryffen · 20/01/2018 12:54

Had zero symptoms with my first daughter and I'm now 10+6 with second child and have them all.

Word of advice - GET OFF DR GOOGLE.

your more than likely to cause problems for yourself reading what others write (sometimes out of spite and maliciousness) that will cause worry etc.

Took me 10yrs to have first and less than 3 months of trying to conceive second baby - I'm worried too but accept there is nothing to be done if miscarriage happens- all we can do is pray and take it easy.

Current child right now has a nice temperature and vomiting bug so away to clean her room up LOL

Just posted on a similar thread.

Not a peep of MS here, not even nausea. Everything is fine and we're much further along with the pregnancy.

I'm terrible for motion sickness pre pregnancy and the sex of our baby is associated with higher rates of MS (factors supposed to increase MS).
My mum never suffered with MS though and there is a suggestion about hereditary links.

bananaramallamana · 20/01/2018 17:44

I had two MMC with no symptoms and the third time round, I woke up at 7 weeks and announced to my husband that I was definitely no longer pregnant. I just felt too normal.

Waited a long week (we were on holiday) to get to the hospital for an early scan, and all was fine!

I'm now 32 weeks and only recently have I started to feel pregnant. No nausea m, morning sickness, no food cravings or aversions in all this time, and I only started to show after 26 weeks.

Now I have a proper belly, gravity is starting to take effect, and baby is squashing my stomach so I'm fuller faster. All fine!

Neither my mum (three healthy pregnancies, no losses) nor my Mum (two healthy pregnancies so far, no losses) had even a sniff of morning sickness or really any symptoms to speak of. I think it’s just one of those things x

Sorry listed Mum twice... need to preview before sending! Mum and sister, that should say.

MumJ21 · 24/01/2018 10:27

I had absolutely no symptoms when I was pregnant, no sickness, heartburn, not even any cravings it was a complete breeze and looking forward to the next one. DD is now 8 mo and perfect.

kelsospink · 24/01/2018 10:38

I'm 42 and pregnant with my first.....I'm 9 weeks and so far have had very few symptoms, other than a bit of tiredness and some bloating! Fortunately, I've had no sickness or nausea, which did worry me a wee bit but my Mum was exactly the same with her 2 pregnancies. I realise it's not too early for it to start, so I'm just counting my blessings! Very reassuring to hear others in the same boat tho Smile x
