Hello!

I should have asked my midwife but forgot. I'm now 34 nearly 35 weeks and my breaststroke haven't grown at all during this pregnancy.

Please tell me this is not too uncommon!!

Thanks

Mine didn't change at all until after the birth. Don't worry.

Blueberrycheesecake1 · 26/11/2017 18:11

Thanks! They are so small that a bit of growth would have been quite welcome :)

Mine never changed size during or after two pregnancies.

Monkeypuzzle32 · 26/11/2017 18:34

neither have mine-its the first tie they look fairly small!! Hmm

stuckfornames · 26/11/2017 18:49

With DS1, mine didn't really change. I don't remember buying any new bras.

With DD2, they got a little bigger but not really noticeable.

I'm 21w pregnant now with DS3 and I've gone from a 34C to a 36D! I've actually lost 4lb since being pregnant from still being sick.

It's amazing how different each pregnancy is on the body!

It can happen but zero breast changes in pregnancy is a strong indicator for a condition called IGT which makes it very difficult or impossible to breastfeed. So if you plan to try breastfeeding, please mention to your doctor so that your baby can be more closely monitored for adequate milk intake and for any additional support you may need. Of course. It may be absolutely fine either but it is important to be aware, as it is very important that newborns have adequate feeds.

Best wishes

Mine didn't change in size or sensation at all, either time. But I have breastfed without issue. Well, except tongue tie but that's not my boob's fault.

Ni58 · 26/11/2017 18:56

What does IGT mean? Could explain a lot for me!

Icloud54 · 26/11/2017 18:58

My A cup breasts stayed the same throughout my first pregnancy and went up to a C when breast feeding. I would say it can be normal.

Alexindisguise · 26/11/2017 19:04

My A cups stayed that size but went up to a C when bf and stayed that way, bonus!

NC1990 · 26/11/2017 19:08

Mine didn't get any bigger during pregnancy, they went massive when my milk came in but have now settled down again.

SilverLinings2014 · 26/11/2017 19:43

NI58 it’s Insufficienct Glandular Tissue. It means the woman’s breasts don’t have enough milk making tissue and therefore don’t produce enough milk to feed a baby, at least not exclusively.

I have IGT, which made exclusively feeding DD impossible (she slipped off the growth chart, gaining weight, but not enough until we supplemented with formula. It’s really rare though, less than 2% of women. My issue is connected to having only half a womb. Both caused by not getting a particular shot of hormones (or not getting it at the right time) when I was gestating in my mum 40 years ago!

My breasts are also modest and didn’t change at all in pregnancy. Am 35 weeks now with DC2 and no changes this time either so expecting to mix feed again this time.

Hopefully is doesn’t affect you but worth being informed about though just in case.

CoffeeAndCupcakes85 · 26/11/2017 20:14

Mine didn't increase at all when pregnant or afterwards (apart from for a day or 2 when my milk first came in!). I was seriously p*ssed off as I gained loads of weight but none on my bust. As I'm as B cup and size 14 I would have been grateful to go up a size.

I had no real problem breastfeeding though.

DeadDoorpost · 26/11/2017 21:15

I'm 41 Weeks and mine haven't changed either (36EE) so kind of glad as I'd have hated dealing with bigger boobs

Saying that though, both my nan and my mum had issues with bf so it's interesting to only just be hearing of IGT. Might speak to my midwife tomorrow about it seeing as I'm seeing her anyway.

Bumdishcloths · 26/11/2017 22:20

Mine only changed in band size, until after birth and then cup size changed too. I've gone from a 40D to a 44H Blush

Blueberrycheesecake1 · 26/11/2017 23:18

Very interesting to hear different experiences! Fingers crossed not igt

My DD is five and a half now, so a bit late to worry about it but I never went up from an A, couldn't breastfeed, couldn't even express anything.

donajimena · 27/11/2017 09:09

Mine didn't either. I would have liked to have sported a bit more up front. I managed breastfeeding fine. They did get bigger after the birth but they didn't stay big.

Rinceoir · 27/11/2017 09:11

Mine didn’t change when pregnant. Made masses of milk and they changed size a few times a day for the first few weeks post natally! (Had massive oversupply- was sleeping on towels for months and spent a fortune on breast pads).

Loungingbutnotforlong · 27/11/2017 09:20

My A cups did not change at all during my pregnancies and I was not able to breastfeed- hardly any milk came in at all, despite taking medication to try to increase supply. I was distraught when it was obvious that I needed to bottle feed- I really wanted to breastfeed. But you know what- both children are very healthy, fully bonded and I wish I had not beaten myself up about it.

Teddy1970 · 27/11/2017 09:24

My breasts didn't increase at all, (I was a bit gutted!) but I had no problem breast feeding.

CheesyFootballs · 27/11/2017 09:25

Mine didn't grow when pregnant, but were enormous once my milk came in. I went from a C to a G cup Shock.

Post two DC (now much older) they're a DD.

mindutopia · 27/11/2017 09:25

This is my 2nd successful pregnancy (had a mc in between) and mine have been the same size since before my first pregnancy. You may notice they get a big bigger once your milk comes in (mine were fuller, but still same bra size), but otherwise, sounds completely normal to me.

allegretto · 27/11/2017 09:27

Mine didn't change either even with twins.
