When did you guys go public with your pregnancy?
Also sorry for the silly question, but when do you enter the second trimester? 13 or 14 weeks?

We told DP's family at around 7 weeks as they live quite far away and it was our only chance to see them in person for a while. We only told mine at around 12 weeks as they weren't too happy about it, then everyone else at around 14.

Waited for my 12 week scan

Cakeandmarshmallows · 10/11/2017 15:10

told my mum at 6 weeks coz she viited the day after we found out and we could not stop grinning! First baby!! then told brother and Dad the next week. Told his family via whats app call at 12 weeks - when we could all find a good time together - they live other side of the world.
Told no one else until after 12 weeks scan, some close friends at work have guessed, (added weight, sickness, tiredness etc!!) Had to tell boss for health and safety after 12 week scan. Extended family not been told yet, (they live abroad etc) we are now 18 weeks but planning to tell them after 20 week scan and others will be told as and when it works out.

had to tell work immediately I found out (5 weeks) as due to several previous mc & a medical issue GP & Obstetrician wanted me hospitalised for a couple of days. My parent & PIL same time for same reason, & best friend as she was due to come to stay that weekend. Brother twigged (as he had morning sickness with me 🤣🤣🤣), we told DH’s siblings when we reached 12 weeks - at the same time SIL announced hers (due dates were a couple of days apart). Sadly she had an mc 4 days later.

Do what feels right for you - if we’d not had the medical issues we would have waited, more so we could have the time to ourselves than anything else though

With number 1 we told both parents at 6 weeks on the instruction not to tell anyone before our scan, there was a family gathering the weekend before the scan and people kept congratulating me cos his mum had told everyone which really upset me. With no 2 I refused to tell them but secretly told my parents and then with no 3 I'm keeping it a secret as long as possible as we're doing it at a highly impractical time and just after I got pregnant I found out that my brothers wife is struggling to get pregnant so now I feel like I'm going to be rubbing it in if I say I'm pregnant with number 3 and it happened the first month we tried!

samzin · 10/11/2017 16:36

I'm currently 10 weeks and I'm planning to tell family after my first scan (which will be at 13 weeks), all going well. If the scan shows anything seriously wrong I'll probably not tell anyone, I like to keep things like that private.

I've already had to tell a few people as I was due to be involved in a sports event which I've had to drop out of, and various consultants involved in my care (for medical issues unrelated to pregnancy, but which the pregnancy has an impact on). But none of them have contact with my family or friends so there's no danger of them hearing through the grapevine. I'm not a big drinker so no one has noticed anything different there.

Family and friends at 12 weeks, had to tell work around 6 weeks due to the heavy nature of my job at the time (chainsaw use etc) and I kept having dizzy spells and vomiting in the herbaceous borders! 😳

CL1982 · 10/11/2017 17:59

Post 12 week scan :)

KatieKookaburra26 · 10/11/2017 18:01

With all my 4 I told my Mum, Nan and Dad when I did the test and then everyone else at 12 weeks.

Sarahh2014 · 10/11/2017 18:12

10 weeks as had early scan and all was fine plus having standard 12 week scan a fortnight later so saw it as an ok time

lotsoffreckles · 10/11/2017 18:14

Close family and friends when we found out at 2 weeks, DD was IVF and they all knew we were having treatment. They didn’t know the official test date but it so happened we were having a BBQ at my Mum and Dads that afternoon, it was an amazing afternoon. It was my first ever BFP and although there was still a way to go I was just so happy!

Wally1983 · 10/11/2017 19:05

The night I did the test (6weeks) I told my parents & in laws, my grandparents and our brothers and sisters. If I fall again i’ll Tell the same few again exactly how I did the first time although part of me thinks it’d be exciting to keep it as an announcement for when a few people can be together but I’ll be too excited to keep it between us I think 😁

neversleepagain · 10/11/2017 23:46

My parents and siblings the day of my bfp.
Everyone else at 16 weeks.
Told people it was twins at 24 weeks.

Told my mum after a private scan at 8 weeks, told my boss this week at 9 weeks. My 12 week scan will be when I'm about 11+5, and we'll be telling PIL and siblings after this, then close friends. 2 more weeks to go, we're ready to explode with not telling!

Although this week I found out that one of my cousins is expecting, she's due a couple days after me, but apparently is just terrible at keeping secrets so has told already!

Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 11/11/2017 18:12

My boss at 6 weeks (she needed to know due to my job)
Everyone else after 12 week scan.
