Pregnancy nausea drink suggestions!

9 weeks, fairly nauseous most of the time. Managing to eat, pasta and toast mainly. Struggling to drink enough though. Tap water awful. Drank sparkling for a bit, gone off that now. Moved on to lemonade and then San Pellegrino Limonata which I love normally - now that tastes funny too Sad.

Any suggestions? What’s everyone else drinking? Everything just seems repulsive and I’m clearly dehydrated.

Ice cold orange and pineapple squash. Has to have a shed load of ice in it. I drink it in bucketloads...sugar free but my teeth will still fall out I expect! That and ice cold diet ginger ale. Ale not beer. Ale is much more like pop and not too strong. Not a fan of ginger but this stuff is good. Just wish there was a generous helping of rum in it some days...

Oh and half apple juice half soda water. A full glass of apple juice is always too syrupy for me but topped up with soda water is yum. Like a cheapo appletizer hehe!

I lived on chipped ice for the first few weeks of my pregnancies - occassionally with a squeeze of lime to make it more interesting.

Pepsi or Coca Cola, both have to be very cold and fizzy not flat but can't have too much because of the caffeine.

DeadDoorpost · 08/11/2017 22:02

Elderflower flavoured sparkling water. Or the other drink I'm partial to is orange and pineapple squash... very strong

jordimai · 08/11/2017 22:05

Original lucozade😍😍

thepatchworkcat · 08/11/2017 22:34

Hmm lucozade could be worth a shot. Not really had it since I was little and Mum used to buy it if we’d been poorly!

Cold peppermint tea was all I could handle. I'd make a huge jug of it with just one teabag and let it cool down.
That or incredibly weak orange barley squash.

Oh boy. Just got a BFP today and so am browsing around on here and reliving memories from DS (now nearly 5). How am I going to get through this bit at work ?? I am miles from the bathroom and work long hours with tough expectations. Going to stockpile the drinks I guess.

thepatchworkcat · 09/11/2017 09:08

Congrats Fakingit36 !
I’m off work as it’s been too bad to manage, that’s how I’ve solved that one!

@thepatchworkcat there is a hg support thread on here and everyone is really good. There is lots of advice too. The nausea is so bloody debilitating you have my sympathy completely. I’m now 34 weeks on my second hg pregnancy occasionally I can stomach a small cup of tea but I tend to stick with sparkling water. I really liked tonic water in the early stages or ice pops found everything else unbearable. Flat coke is a popular one with some. I despair for our poor teeth.

thepatchworkcat · 09/11/2017 09:52

Thank you Mustang I’ve seen the HG thread but feel like a fraud as it’s not quite as bad as that and I’m not actually vomiting much at all. Just feel nauseous most of the time and eating/drinking is a real chore. If I had a desk job I might manage but I’m a teacher so it’s a struggle, hence being off!

I feel your pain, I'm 9 weeks and the same as you, not being sick but so nauseous all the time. 7up free and diet coke is about all I can stomach at the moment (and plain potatoes) the colder the better.

TriJo · 09/11/2017 11:34

Coke (32mg caffeine per can, not terrible!), cans of ginger ale, sparkling water.

DeadDoorpost · 10/11/2017 16:19

patchworkcat don't worry about feeling like a fraud lol I'm on there too and while I'm not as bad as some of the women having the support there makes a huge difference during the day

allisbright · 10/11/2017 16:30

I've been struggling with this too. More recently, I have opted for very very weak squash so that it had a bit of flavour, but wasn't too sweet or sugary. Same for diluted fruit juice.

Ice lollies are also good, though in a different way. I've previously also enjoyed coke, orangina and san pelligrino orange, but I've found all too sweet the past few weeks.

I hope the nausea passes soon.

thingymaboob · 10/11/2017 17:08

Flat coke was the best. Ice cold from fridge.

missymousey · 12/11/2017 17:42

Tap water with loads of lemon juice in. I hope it doesn't last long OP!
