Pregnancy nausea drink suggestions!

9 weeks, fairly nauseous most of the time. Managing to eat, pasta and toast mainly. Struggling to drink enough though. Tap water awful. Drank sparkling for a bit, gone off that now. Moved on to lemonade and then San Pellegrino Limonata which I love normally - now that tastes funny too Sad.

Any suggestions? What’s everyone else drinking? Everything just seems repulsive and I’m clearly dehydrated.

1/3 cloudy apple juice to 2/3 fizzy water. Served very cold.

I know you said no ginger but you could add some to the above to help ease nausea.

Battyboo82 · 08/11/2017 19:34

I suffered very badly and found peppermint tea and water with lemon squeezed in to be good. Apple juice too.

thepatchworkcat · 08/11/2017 19:40

manchesteruntied it’s my second pregnancy and I was sick badly the first time round too - unfortunately until about week 17. So I’m not hopeful it’s going ease off soon.

Water made me throw up. I was hospitalised with hyperemesis.
When I came out I still struggled. I tried to eat as many bland watery foods as possible to make up for the fact I could barely stomach even Britax filtered water. Lettuce and cucumber was about all I could manage. In little nibbles.

-Cawstons press apple and ginger with sparkling water

-flattish 7up

-sparkling water and lemon squash

  • flat sparkling water
ScotsLamb · 08/11/2017 20:05

Original coke.
Milk.
Very posh expensive squash especially the Bottlegreen Summer Raspberry, Robinson’s lemon barley or peach barley.

Squash is still my favourite with loads of ice but I’ve upgraded to lemonade instead of water with it.

Good luck!

PS I also found mentos or chewy peppermint sweets helpful.

Passmethecrisps · 08/11/2017 20:08

I had fairly mild nausea but found that old fashioned strong ginger beer went down a treat

doodlejump1980 · 08/11/2017 20:09

I lived on lucozade throughout my pregnancy, it was the only thing to keep me from puking and was good to get the babies moving if I hadn't felt movement in a wee while, that and salt and vinegar crisps 😃

bakingmad83 · 08/11/2017 20:11

I found the only things that I could drink in the first trimester were ice cold water (used to put plastic bottles of water in the freezer and take them out just before they started to freeze) and grapefruit juice - anything else just tasted too sweet.

daimbar · 08/11/2017 20:15

Camomile & honey tea was the only thing I could drink when pregnant and sick.

thepatchworkcat · 08/11/2017 20:18

Thanks all, DH is being sent out with a long list of things for me to try, plus I’m eating an ice lolly that I didn’t know we had in the freezer. Sympathy to everyone else suffering in a similar fashion!

Oh yes. I have a pack of Sainsburys kids icelollies in freezer I took one to bed with me as my sickness was bad at night.

hannamai · 08/11/2017 20:38

Flat Coke, elderflower cordial, very cold bottles water (sipped) and Milo in cashew milk! I've got HG so I'm cycling between those as drinks that I can manage, hope something works for you :)

WineAndTiramisu · 08/11/2017 20:42

Ice cold water
Ice cold ribena
Slush puppies

Essentially anything very cold worked for me

GummyGoddess · 08/11/2017 20:42

Water for a while, then Pepsi when water starts to make me retch again. Think the fizz helps settle my stomach and it tastes so strong it gets rid of any other taste in my mouth.

RibenaMonsoon · 08/11/2017 20:57

Orange juice, milk and watered down Ribena was all I could drink in pregnancy. Nauseous and pukeythrough the whole thing.

The watered down Ribena worked well on really pukey days.

Twodogsandahooch · 08/11/2017 20:58

Capri sun

Wispygypsy · 08/11/2017 21:05

I have drunk a ridiculous quantity of original ribena since I saw it as a tip on a different morning sickness thread! If you're being ill regularly, it's not too awful to bring back up again! Hmm
Try a little ice in water and sip with a straw. Good luck

Doubletrouble42 · 08/11/2017 21:15

Icy water was all I could stomach and helped my nausea x

thepatchworkcat · 08/11/2017 21:33

Update: ice cold passionfruit j20 through a straw is a winner so far! 🍹

Ice lollies, juicy fruit like raspberries, cherry tomatoes and icy water was all I could stand for a while, it's frustrating when you're thirsty!

Lotsalotsagiggles · 08/11/2017 21:39

If I constantly sip diet lemonade when I feel sick it seems to go really quickly!

Been a lifeline in meetings and whilst travelling

ILoveCwtches · 08/11/2017 21:40

I'm glad the J2O is doing the trick at the moment. I'd forgotten about things being better when ice cold, too!

Happy slurping! Smile

LaBelleSausage · 08/11/2017 21:42

Marks and Spencer (has to be theirs) do a sugar free pink grapefruit squash. I’m getting through a seriously disturbing amount but it’s all I want. I buy 8 bottles at a time Blush

Sharl2017 · 08/11/2017 21:45

Apple juice - can't get enough of it or summer fruit cordial with fridge cold water Smile
