A Psychic Told Me I'm Pregnant...

Raf121 · 07/11/2017 00:21

Hi everyone. This is my first post so im not 100% how it works! I visited a psychic today who told me loads of accurate things about my life that he couldn't possibly have known!
Halfway through the reading he told me pregnancy was immonent. I asked him if he meant now. He said yes, im pregnant now.

My partner and i are not trying, but we are also not taking birth control either. Just let what happens happen! It wouldnt be a bad thing as we have bought a house and are financially stable. I just don't know what to think!

I dont really believe i am so i havent done a test, plus it would be too soon for a home pregnancy as i only had my period 2 and a half weeks ago.

I just wondered what peoples views are on this? And if anyone had any experiences of their own...

If you were "literally on my death bed" why are you still posting. You should be dead. Or , (cue woo soundtrack ) are you posting from the great beyond.............

BatteredBreadedOrSouthernFried · 19/11/2017 12:55

Would you say to a doctor, 'i think i might be pregnant because a PSYCHIC said so?'.

No I really, really wouldn’t! 😂😂😂

PelvicFloorClenchReminder · 19/11/2017 12:59

Indeed, what is 21 if not a grown adult?

MamaPhoneHome · 19/11/2017 13:19

OP. Glad you are feeling better.

I feel the same about mumsnet. I don't think it's for me. Everyone is so abrupt and rude. Everytime I come here I end up feeling sad (I already have depression so it's not a good environment for me).

I hope you get the positive test you want soon x

Have you tried netmums Mama? Everyone there is smiley and credulous and bouncy in a sparkly Stepford/Truman kinda way.

haveabiscuitor2 · 19/11/2017 15:13

Hi op,

Hope you are feeling okay and get the result you want soon

I agree mumsnet can be a nasty place at times Flowers

Oysterbabe · 19/11/2017 15:23

Sorry you've had a rough ride OP but psychics do stir up a lot of emotion. A lot of people feel the way I do about them and think that they are scum, making a living by lying to vulnerable people.

Raf121 · 19/11/2017 16:59

Thanks to everyone agreeing mumsnet isnt a nice place. This will be my last post i think because it seems people have got their priorities crossed. Not posting on a thread for a week because i was in hospital and very ill (and at a family funeral) should not warrent this response. Thanks for any stories people did share

I saw a psychic one month before I fell pregnant with my first child. She told me that one of me or my sisters was going to get pregnant that year with a blue eyed, curly blonde haired boy.

At the time I had a 2, 5 and 20 year old sister. I was 18. Obviously the children were not going to get pregnant, and my older sister is a lesbian and had only just started seeing someone. Whereas I had been with my now DH for 3 years.
I didn’t believe her, but the next month I fell pregnant and my son is blue eyed and had blonde curly hair.

Who knows, it may happen in the next few months for you 😊

I think your confusing kindness and people being agreeable. People have challenged your beliefs which isn't mean spirited, the topic of psychics can illicit strong responses from people. I'd strongly suggest you give Darren brown a watch before you part with any more money and make it away from your death bed.

as usual, there's a few loud mouthed posters who enjoy showing how smart they are and love putting the boot into new posters

ForeverHopeful21 · 19/11/2017 19:57

How on earth did this thread get so nasty?

Freezingwinter · 19/11/2017 20:02

There is a certain mumsnet attitude I have noticed where people start making fun, sarcastic comments and the such like. Then when they're called out you get 'we're just being honest, no ones being nasty' comments. It's quite shocking that grown women use these playground tactics.. Hmm no one ever taught you, if you can't say anything nice don't say anything at all. I personally don't get off on making fun of someone..

Battleax · 19/11/2017 20:10

Don't be daft. OP's been on a slow motion leg pull, everyone rolled their eyes and joked accordingly.

TwitterQueen1 · 19/11/2017 20:17

I can't help but wonder why the psychic didn't pick up on the glandular fever and sepsis, which were (apparently) real, but only the pregnancy, which wasn't.... Hmm

Sej1981 · 19/11/2017 20:57

OP- I hope you get well soon and good luck getting pregnant Flowers

Iwasjustabouttosaythat · 20/11/2017 02:29

Better than a bunch of posters showing how stupid they are though, eh? 😂

madwoman1ntheatt1c · 20/11/2017 02:41

Well, that went well.
I suspect the 'psychic' picked up on your 21yo desperation to be pregnant, and played on it. I'm sorry she didn't grant your wish. But there really are far more scientific ways to get the baby you are craving that don't involve forking over cash to have someone spin a whole variety of stories and play on the ones you react to.

You nailed it madwoman. Exactly what I was thinking.

Any 21 year old who says

'My partner and i are not trying, but we are also not taking birth control either. Just let what happens happen! It wouldnt be a bad thing as we have bought a house and are financially stable. I just don't know what to think!'

Is totally trying to get PG even when she's pretending she's not.

Does your boyfriend actually know that you are not using any contraception Raf?

AstridWhite · 20/11/2017 04:03

I went to see another psychic today as it unsettled me so much yesterday. As soon as ive sat down she has said the exact same thing! That i am pregnant at the moment!

Did they both actually say 'You are pregnant at the moment' though? In which case they were both wrong anyway. Or did they say 'are you pregnant at the moment?'

Because I imagine that's a fairly standard question they ask all young women. There are only about three reasons why people visit psychics, it's very rarely purely out of curiosity with absolutely no other motive or issue, so they really don't have to dig too deep to work out what your issue is, and what you want to hear.

This thread has just made me remember that I went to a psychic when I was also 21 and she asked me if I was PG as well. I wasn't, but I had recently had a termination and obviously the circumstances surrounding all of that and my relationship with the father was a big part of the reason I was there.

I think they just assume certain things with young women.

ThisisrealityGreg · 20/11/2017 12:46

Wow! I don't believe in psychics but the level of vitriol aimed at the OP - who has been seriously ill by the way - is unbelievable. I've just had to check we weren't in AIBU but even then.....

OP hope you make a speedy and full recovery Flowers There ARE nice people here who can have different views without being nasty. Good luck with getting pregnant!
