Hmm alot of pressure today. Very uncomfortable. Really does feel like i am about to come on. Is this just normal labour prep?

Yeah this is my first hense not knowing what to expect! Had a really rough night tossing and turning with the 'period pains'. Really ramped up at 3am and then baby went nuts moving about! Managed to get back to sleep until about 8am. Lower back pain this morn - exactly like period symptoms and need to go to loo alot (sorry tmi) but that may be nerves.....hope if this is it it doesnt take too long to get going. Symptom spotting isnt fun.

I know this is daft question but i assume i carry on as norm? I am meant to be out shopping tues with a friend - if the pains continue but dont worsen do i still go? Just as some of you said this may go on for days....i obviously dont want to put me or baby at risk but equally sitting here waiting for twinges may not be ideal either. I just dont want to worry anyone either. What did you all do??

....trying not to freak out.....

I would carry on as normal to a degree - don't go too far from home, have your bag in the car ready to go, have your green notes in your handbag, make sure your phone is fully charged and take it easy, have lots of little breaks and food/drink stops

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 10/09/2017 10:26

Ooo exciting Jelly I've posted on a few of your threads & thought you must be due soon!

Yes carry on as normal unless movements change, you get regular contractions that increase in pain or a large loss etc.

Good luck Smile

Falconhoof1 · 10/09/2017 10:26

I had a night like that before baby came. It went away for a day then true labour started.

Jellybabie3 · 10/09/2017 10:27

Thanks Smile

Yes sounds like labour! Carry on as normal and wait for it to ramp up!

MrsMozart · 10/09/2017 10:31

Exciting! Definitely let your midwife know. Don't go too far from home / hospital. I didn't have a show so please don't rely on it as an indicator.

Lj8893 · 10/09/2017 10:35

You may not have a show until you are deep in the throws of active labour so don't wait for that. When labour starts you will be very aware of it.

Just carry on as normal, keep your notes with you. You don't need to let your midwife know but obviously if you see them you can mention it.

Trampire · 10/09/2017 10:42

My first labour started like this. I felt quite stupid because I kept saying to dh that I had period pains but they came and went. Neither of us cottoned on for ages Grin.

I say carry on as normal OP. This can go on for a while. If you feel rough take a few paracetamol or a nice bath. Exciting!

PerpetualStudent · 10/09/2017 10:43

Oh, fancy a buddy?! I'm 37+6, been having mild crampy feelings for about 10 days, yesterday pretty sure I lost my plug. Cramps ramped up and baby felt very low down.
In the small hours was having what felt like proper contractions, for about 40 seconds at 6 mins apart, but took a couple of paracetemol at 7am and snoozed for a couple of hours, which seemed to slow things down.

Now having 2-3 every 30 mins, worse than period pain but not unbareable. Don't really know what to do with myself!

Trampire · 10/09/2017 10:44

I didn't have a show until half way through labour, also shortly followed by my waters.

It's not like the TV dramas is it OP? Where the woman clutches her tummy and goes Woooooo! Then is in full-on screaming labour. It can be a much more gentle build than that.

Jellybabie3 · 10/09/2017 11:39

Blimey perpetual you are definatly further on than me! Goodluck and keep us posted

If you're out shopping and feel it about to kick off, head into John Lewis - I've heard they give you loads of stuff if you go into labour there ... Grin

Penguin27 · 10/09/2017 12:17

Ooh how exciting jelly and perpetual! Sounds like things are definitely starting for both of you. Keep us updated we're nosy Grin

Jellybabie3 · 11/09/2017 07:26

How are you doing perpetual?

Also 38 weeks & having very similar pains. Lots of low pressure & sharp pains, struggling to stand up at times or be comfortable at all. Spoke to midwife last night who thinks it must be just be SPD but it's only been in the last day I've had this so I'm crossing everything that it is a sign things are slowly happening!

Jellybabie3 · 11/09/2017 07:55

Hi frizzy. Fingers crossed for you too Flowers I have had similar shooting pains - kind of where i would expect ovaries to be (side of groin i guess) when i stand up - is that like you?. The 'dramatic' cramping has subsided abit though. Gutted if it was a false alarm.....going to have a rest day today and see how i go. My boy is due next week 😊 we are so ready for him now.

FrizzyTizzy · 11/09/2017 08:56

Thanks Jelly - fingers crossed for you too! That's pretty much the pains I've been having. It subsided overnight but is definitely back this morning & my lower back & legs are so sore. So hoping this is the start of something, although DS1 woke up this morning with a sickness bug so it's all going on here! Aw we are also expecting another boy :)

dippypanda · 11/09/2017 11:39

Hopefully we'll get to see some progress soon Flowers I'm still getting lots of braxton hicks but nothing else for now. Due date is also next week and sweep is booked for next Thursday.

Lules · 11/09/2017 11:43

I'm 38+2. Same thing is currently happening to me for the 3rd time in just over a week. Hasn't turned out to be labour yet and has just fizzled out so it doesnt mean anything necessarily.

Jellybabie3 · 11/09/2017 11:53

Thanks Lules. We must be due same day Smile
