I have spoken to three girlfriends regarding the births of their children ... I am now severely worried about the delivery of my first child! Do any of you ladies have any advice for giving birth or nice stories to share particularly where you tell me it's not going to hurt that much !?

I'm not sure which books are 'the books' but I'd say relevant information about birth outcomes and statistics are more commonly found in leaflets and on websites.

Midwives may not give the the complete picture of statistical likelihood of outcomes.

Good luck.

Sorry I haven't read the thread. Just wanted to say that this is one of the things I hated when pregnant - mums telling their horror stories.

Everything will be fine and you will have a lovely baby soon.

How many kids do the ladies with horror stories have? If more than one it really couldn't be that bad if it was worth doing again.

ummm am torn, i feel like giving birth is going into battle and I see too many women shell shocked after that the candles and breathing didn't help them, I had massage - homeopathic during my labour, when i said it didnt touch the pain my consultant for no 2 - laughed.
There is no need for unnecessary worry no, and just stop people from talking about it if you dont ask for it....however also be under no illusion you are going into battle, for me - being forwarned is for armed...

Ali - I have two and the only way I could have no 2 was by an ELC ( which was wonderful).....and I have seen many other ladies the same,.
