How early did your heartburn/reflux start?

In my last pregnancy I had terrible constant heartburn from about 7 months on that galviston didn't make a dent in.

Now I'm about 9/10 weeks with my second and I'm already having to sleep propped up on a pillow tower and eat antacids like sweeties.

I'm hoping to ring the Dr tomorrow and get some help because over the counter remedies aren't working at all. Has anybody been prescribed anything that works this early?

This may actually drive me to madness if it lasts the whole pregnancy.

I had horrible heartburn from before I got a positive test until the end, both times. Both babies had a full head of hair though I suspect that's an old wives take haha.

Ranitidine you can buy from supermarkets. I took one if those everyday in the morning, sometimes another later on, and kept liquid gaviscon nearby in case though it made me retch. I really noticed if I forgot a tablet.

Brand name ranitidine is Zantac though I bought asda own for a third of the price. Good luck

You absolutely need peptac peppermint liquid. It is a million times better than gaviscon. For me heartburn is the worse part of pregnancy I have had sick come up my nose at night. My doctor prescribed me this I have been 100% fine the minute I have some ever since! Can not recommend enough!

I suffered from 28 weeks onwards with number one and then started to suffer with my current pregnancy at around 16 weeks - it was really awful and gaviscon only took the edge off.

I went to the Gp last week and got Omaprazole. After just one tablet I felt so much better and now I'm wondering why the heck I suffered through months of agony. I've not touched gaviscon since starting the tablets last Friday and I've only had one very minor episode of heartburn in a week. It really is amazing!

Yes, every day and night for the past few weeks (currently 39+1) but my baby is breech so apparently that makes it worse?

Forgot to add: Tums are amazing! They work so well and are super yummy too. Caught DH eating them like sweets the other day! I tried telling him off but he pointed out that he bought them...

The picture that came with this thread (it was on the main home page) has left me wondering if I have heartburn. I always say acid reflux because, it's not in my chest, it's literally a sickly/birth/acidy feeling that rises in my throat. And the face the woman in the picture is pulling is literally me.
But omg please tell me if you find a miracle cure. I had it with my first pregnancy and I literally could have cried it was so constant. 15 weeks now with second baby and I've had it for weeks this time! I bought tums the other day as I remember them mildly ever so slightly helping last time but NOTHING gets rid. Hellllp

Omeprazole is a revelation. Brilliant stuff. I had it with my second DC.

I was so ill with heartburn during both pregnancies, the best thing about giving birth to DC1 was to be able to gulp down a glass of water afterwards and not be in agony.
