Sore, achey hips bones / pelvis, what the bloomin' heck is up with me now?

I'm 10weeks +3 and for the last few days have had a twingey / achey bump (yes, I seem to have a mini bump at 10 weeks!), not exactly a pain, more a dull ache around the sides.
The last 2 days I've also had aching over my hip bones and around my lower back. Also, when I walk I feel like my pelvic floor is about to fall out , when I lie down it abates a bit, but a 2.3 yr old does not for much lying down make!
Had a bit of spotting very early on with this pg so highly paranoid, what on earth is this? I gather it's too early to be SPD and it's in the wrong area too isn't it? Any advice to stop me worrying myself to an early grave would be greatly appreciated!

I had SPD from about 10 - 12 weeks so don't discount it.

fireflyfairy2 · 01/04/2007 20:21

Not too early for SPD!

I had it from 12 weeks

HonorMatopoeia · 01/04/2007 20:22

Oh bum! If it is that does it mean it's going to be hideous? I can just see my boss rubbing her hands together in glee as she kicks me out of work early!

Honor, sorry you're suffering like this.

Remember that every pregnancy is different so although you might not have had these aches and pains with your last pregnancy you might get them this time.

It might just be ligaments stretching and moving? It is possible, like flutterbee said, that it could be early signs of SPD but hopefully not.

I was achey early on with DS (when I hadn't been with DD) and I did go on to get SPD.

sassy · 01/04/2007 20:30

Hi Honor
Gawd, you don't want SPD this early, do you? Could it be stretching pains - I had these much earlier with dd2 than dd1 (and bear in mind, I was chained to the bed/loo all of the early weeks due to the vomiting. Good job its Easter hols - osunds like you need to put your feet up as much as poss and see if it passes or worsens. I'll have E if you need me to - give us a shout. (she at nursery etc as usual?- i can have her tomor if needs be)

HonorMatopoeia · 01/04/2007 20:30

Thank you Betty, this pg is already hugely different from Dd's!! I'm pondering going to the drs to get it checked out, think I'm more panicked about the aches and twinges than the possibility of spd, the bleeding has set me all on edge - worrywart me!
Oh yes, meant to mention that driving is really uncomfortable too, does that mean anything? I'd be very happy if it was just ligaments stretching!

Im 13 weeks and having same problem. Hope your doing ok, I find bath helps and a wheat bag thats slightly warm

Hugs

HonorMatopoeia · 01/04/2007 20:33

Thanks sassy I so definintely do NOT want it to be spd - now or later! Can you imagine the glee on boss from hells face as she has an excuse to get rid of me at the start of the summer hols?! Thanks for the offer with E, was due to meet Littlefish tomorrow but think it may now be off as she has builders in, will see how achey I am but would be good to get together if we could

lisad, it's nice to know I'm not alone (although sorry you're going through it too!) Is this your first or second? I'm wondering if the fact it's my second pg makes a difference in everything stretching earlier?

OP posts:
sassy · 01/04/2007 20:35

Ok that would be nice. Let me know. My 2 are at nursery as usual, so might be nice in the afty cos the 2 littlies can play unmolested!

lisad123 · 01/04/2007 20:38

Hi
Its my second baby, my DD is 4 years old Maybe it is a second baby thing. Im crossing my fingers its not early sign of SPD.
My boss would love to get rid of me early too, but maybe because she knows i wont be coming back
L

HonorMatopoeia · 01/04/2007 20:39

@ unmolested!! Bless your Dd1, she doesn't molest, she ocassionally overloves!!
I'll give you a buzz in the morning x

HonorMatopoeia · 01/04/2007 20:40

lisad, we could be one, that is exactly why my boss wants to get rid of me too!

My hips are really painful too and they keep clicking when I get up or when I'm turning whilst driving - have been worried it might be spd too so I'm off to the docs this week to get it checked out. I can't get comfortable at all and I had a nap this afternoon and woke up feeling like my hips were going to snap in two - ouch!

My boss is very understanding but I can't afford to take any more time off work so I'll have to soldier on... This is my 3rd pg and I'm 15 weeks now - its turning out to be one of those 'eventful' pg's, have already got HG!!!

Hope you feel better soon and manage to find ways to cope with this - let us know what works for you... xx

BettySpaghetti · 01/04/2007 20:48

Honor, I can't remember the first signs of SPD really. I don't recall driving being difficult but getting in and out of the car was painful (swinging your legs round to get out). Similarly getting in and out of bed and turning over in bed . Keep an eye on these activities and if it feels like someone has kicked you in the fanjo (for want of a better expression then it could be SPD).

I think its more likely that its your ligaments stretching though. It seems like its quite common for second pregnancies.

HonorMatopoeia · 01/04/2007 20:50

PLP, that sounds worse than mine, sorry you're suffering so badly, I'll let you know what happens with me, hope you get yourself sorted too x

OP posts:
HonorMatopoeia · 01/04/2007 20:51

Nope, no kicked in fanjo experiences yet Betty! I'm thinking it's more likely to be stretching now but I'll keep an eye on it and on those activities in particular, thanks for the advice!

OP posts:
chipmonkey · 01/04/2007 20:58

Honor, it sounds to me like you might be pregnant!

lisad123 · 01/04/2007 20:59

I cant sit with mine, sitting down and getting up is terible and kept getting pins and nedles down my leg and bum
Do get that feeling of being kicked in fango (LOL), and also feel like I have mild period pain all the time
I have seen baby last week so know she/he is ok
Why do we put ourselfs though this??
L

HonorMatopoeia · 01/04/2007 21:01

chipmonkey, I fear you are right!!!
lisad, I get the constant period pain part, it's a nightmare isn't it? I can't wait for my 12 week scan, I just want to see the little thing and be reassured all is well. Mindyou, as my DH says, it'll put my nind at rest for a week then I'll start worrying again till my 20 week scan

OP posts:
tassis · 01/04/2007 21:03

if it's any consolation, it may not get progressively worse

i was in agony at 20 weeks and was devastated as assumed that'd be me for the next 20 weeks and it wasn't. i had good days and bad ones.

do get a physio referral asap

i found sitting on one of those exercise balls helped, as did the tubigrip support round the bump. if you don't do it already I suggest you start supermarket shopping online and get your 2 yo walking as much as possible (pushing trolleys and pushchairs is not fun!)

lisad123 · 01/04/2007 21:05

LOL, we are same, in most ways by sound of it Hopefully we both dont end up with SPD though.
I have had a pretty bad chest infection for 6 weeks, so all coughing really dot help

Hope your doing ok and Im sure once you see baby on screen your feel better.
Hugs Lisa

HonorMatopoeia · 01/04/2007 21:09

Thank you lisa,
tassis, are those tubigrip things those bump belts? If I get anywhere near as big as I did the last time then I was contemplating getting one for certain! Internet shopping is a god send isn't it? I find it very bad after a day at work, I teach so can't really be sitting for a lot of the day. Thanks for your advice

OP posts:
tassis · 01/04/2007 21:23

not sure exactly what you mean by a bump belt...the tubigrip support thingy i got from the physio

HonorMatopoeia · 01/04/2007 21:25

Thanks tassis, I'll se how it goes this week and if it persists I'll go to the docs and try mentioning physio.
