39 weeks pregnant and no sign of baby

39 weeks pregnant to day and no signs of baby coming. No show. Might have had a few braxton hicks hicks tightening's but not sure if that''s just wishful thinking.

Got an induction date for 40+2 due to essential hypertension and they don't want me to go too far over my dates.

Just really want baby to come here naturally :( They tried a sweep but midwife couldn't even reach cervix so not looking like its going to be any time soon x

any one in the same boat ?

Nope, no signs today either. On the plus side, the count down to my due date is now in single figures, at least!

Used nipple stimulation once at 39 weeks. Felt contraction type pains within 5 mins of starting. Gave birth 12 hours later.. stupidly quick labour too

Was very sceptical about it when a friend told me but it actually worked

travis45 · 21/08/2017 19:29

I was in similar situation, failed sweep as cervix too far back. I ended up being induced, took one pessary and had baby good few hours after. Wasn't as bad as I thought.

Good luck 🙂

Two nights before my scheduled induction at term, I was sitting up feeling a bit sad that I'd never get the experience of going into labour naturally...

Ds2 was born 6 hours later Smile . Literally no sign until I suddenly felt quite crampy and when I finally got round to timing things they were 5 mins apart.

I hadn't even packed my hospital bag.

That was meant to be a smiley face! ConfusedGrin

My daughter was born a day early after getting on all 4's to scrub all floors that I was able. My son was born at 38 weeks dead on after induction and it really wasn't that bad, I went from 3cm to 10cm so quickly that I gave birth on the toilet! Not all labour are the same and not all inductions are awful! :)

39 plus 2 today! No signs really was feeling sick earlier but think I ate my lunch too fast! Some back ache but I've had back ache all the way through too. Probably nothing. I'm torn between wanting him to come ASAP and wanting him to hang on in till September now.

vlooby · 21/08/2017 19:52

I felt like this. Even midwife who saw me on my due date in the afternoon thought I was going over..... baby game next morning! ( well labour did anyway!)

lucylou1234 · 21/08/2017 21:08

well, tried nipple stimulation, still here lol guess we will need to try dtd tonight - if it's even possible this size !

I had no braxton hicks with my first two and no show until just before about so try not to worry it can happen.

Fruitcorner123 · 21/08/2017 21:32

that should say labour not about

lucylou1234 · 21/08/2017 22:33

thanks fruit hopefully i don't have too much longer to find out how it will happen for us x

Oh, I forgot, OP. I always had pineapple and a chicken tikka masala on the days leading up to going into labour.
On the day I went into labour, I went for a long walk. Think that must've helped.

Bmarie · 22/08/2017 09:43

I was exactly the same as this I went for a sweep at 38/39 no sign and then again at 10 days overdue, and the midwife still couldn't do it, even though baby was head down from around 30 weeks she just didn't want to come out... I tried everything & nothing made her engage

My induction was booked for 40+12 at 11:30am, I had period type pains through the night before it and contractions started at 10am x

Bmarie · 22/08/2017 09:53

sorry for double post just read a few other posts... dd is also my first, my labour was quite long, I was contracting strongly every 3 minutes but cervix wasn't dilating (the midwife said it was very stretchy and would probably go all at once), they offered to break my waters but that would mean I couldn't have a water birth(which I was desperate for!!) so I held out, eventually they went naturally but dd had pooped inside so was rushed to labour ward and prepped for c section, eventually had her naturally with an epidural and 20 hours of labour --- I wouldn't worry & have your birth plan ready and not be upset if it doesn't go exactly as you planned! Good luck! ❤️

Sasmac2017 · 22/08/2017 10:55

I am 40 weeks today with a no show baby. Had a sweep last week and one today. I have acupuncture tomorrow. Get out baby!

FanSpamTastic · 22/08/2017 10:59

There is a reflexology spot on your ankle that I always found super sensitive as my due dates got closer. It is on the inside of your leg about 2 to 3 fingers width above your ankle bone. Try massaging that with firm circular motion!

sophiejayne96 · 22/08/2017 12:26

I feel ya! 38 plus 4 today and my little one is 3 5ths engaged but so tired of getting pains and nothing happening! I kind of wish there was a button to just press when it's time for them to come out 😂

ADuckNamedSplash · 22/08/2017 15:40

Another day and still no progress here! Anything happening, Lucy?

yawning801 · 22/08/2017 17:42

My DM was 40+6 (I think) when she had to have a c-section. I was a stubborn baby!

lynmilne65 · 22/08/2017 18:12

Raspberry leaf tea, guaranteed 😆

lynmilne65 · 22/08/2017 18:14

😱100 hrs😵

Andrewofgg · 22/08/2017 18:49

I am obviously useless here Grin but as a matter of curiosity: a woman in my office has just had a baby, her first, on the due day - is that unusual?

Her OH emailed some photos and there was a moment when the whole team said "Awww" as we opened up!

lucylou1234 · 22/08/2017 19:19

nope no signs here either. currently getting texts from mum and sister asking the same lol i felt sick and ill last night and the same again this morning but doubt thats anything to do with baby being on its way.

andrewofgg i think it is usual for babies to be born on their due date, according to google it's 5% :O

I was 42wks+1 and was induced with my daughter who is now 40wks+2. She's had a day of regular 'tightenings' so fingers crossed! Looking forward to being a Granny! Good luck everyone x
