First babies - are they ever early

I'm 34+5 with first baby....... my husband is convinced all first babies are late (SS was, he was)..... but I'm paranoid that my bubba will be early so want to get things done RIGHT NOW. Anyone had any experience? X

36+5

LorelaiVictoriaGilmore · 19/08/2017 20:15

35 weeks - hadn't packed my hospital bag yet!

TeddyIsaHe · 19/08/2017 20:17

Dd was 1 day early, but my mum, grandma and her mum have all had their babies on the due date or 1 day before, so I'm convinced it's hereditary. That is probably entirely made up, but in my mind it makes sense

MistyKnightsTwistout · 19/08/2017 20:17

Not early as such but definitely before due date. I wish I hadn't bought into it as I was going to bed really late and that bit me on the ass when water went at 39+5 on 2 hours sleep.

leccybill · 19/08/2017 20:17

Yep, a week early here.
I'd maybe just have a think about what's going in your bag. You never know.

candlefloozy · 19/08/2017 20:23

My dd was 6 days early

MummaGiles · 19/08/2017 20:24

Yes. Of course they can be. DS was 1 week early. I, a first baby, was 4.5 weeks early.

mummytooneprincess · 19/08/2017 20:25

Yes! 37 weeks here!

SamiZayn · 19/08/2017 20:32

9 days early here. Was fine though, I'd done everything and was just starting to get bored. #2 is due 16 December so could be a Christmas baby if I go late this time

Mumtobe12 · 19/08/2017 20:33

Mine was 5 days early :)

GotToGetMyFingerOut · 19/08/2017 20:37

I was 35+5 with first.

mummyGof2boys · 19/08/2017 20:38

35 weeks with first and 37 weeks with second. Both spontaneous bursting of waters and very quick labour.

HeteronormativeHaybales · 19/08/2017 20:44

38 weeks exactly for my first. I was working until 5 days beforehand Confused

My second was 40 + 8 and my third was induced at 40 + 10 as she was showing no signs of being inclined to be born soon and I was fed up.

BelfastSmile · 19/08/2017 20:47

35+4 with DS, and 35 weeks with DD. Totally unexpected both times!

Heartofglass12345 · 19/08/2017 21:02

30 weeks with my first, 33 with my second. No ideas why. I had to pack a bag in a rush with my 2nd lol. I would get ready just in case 😊
I hope the baby stays in as long as it needs to though. Good luck!

FlappyRose · 19/08/2017 21:04

34 weeks for mine. I was definitely not ready.

KERALA1 · 19/08/2017 21:09

37 weeks with my first 35 with second.

Funniest part was my mother and her "first babies are always late" remarks. With dd2 dh rang her to come and look after dd1 rather early in morning - she took dd1 to playgroup and told all my friends it was a "false alarm". She had to eat her words twice over I had the baby by lunchtime!

NerrSnerr · 19/08/2017 21:09

Mine came 7 days early.

KERALA1 · 19/08/2017 21:10

God my father had to pack my hospital bag - mortifying. Do it now!

Summerdays2014 · 19/08/2017 21:15

39 weeks exactly. No signs at all before hand!

Shoebles · 19/08/2017 22:09

Apparently there's a genetic link down the female line as to whether you are more likely to deliver early or late. No idea whether there's any truth in it but my mum had two, both two weeks early, and I have had one (four weeks early)

INeedNewShoes · 19/08/2017 22:11

Of my group of 8 antenatal class friends, only one got as far as 40 weeks!

shushpenfold · 19/08/2017 22:13

DS born 2 weeks early, the day after a midwife said he'd beat least another 3 weeks as he wasn't engaged. I was told that they're never early too!

MeltorPeltor · 19/08/2017 22:14

Yes, mine was born at 33 weeks. 10 days in hospital and not a thing packed!

Second time around bag packed from 24 weeks just in case!

Rosieposie94 · 19/08/2017 22:16

37 weeks 1st baby, 39 weeks second. Waters just went with both, no signs beforehand!
