Not sure if I've posted in the right section. Just looking for some reviews about the tommee tippee perfect prep machine. Is it worth the money?

Would not be without mine!

DC 1,2+3 I used to take the kettle to bed every night!

DC4 I thought no, be kind to yourself! God send!

Civilsoot · 11/08/2017 20:32

Have a look on local Facebook selling groups. Loads come up for sale on mine. If not, yes, 100% worth every penny but I wish you could turn off the bastard beeping noise. If you get one, you'll know exactly what I mean!

tissuesosoft · 11/08/2017 20:33

I loved ours! Just follow the cleaning guide on the tommee tippee website and only use their branded filters.

Afreshstartplease · 11/08/2017 20:34

Haha my ds recognises the beeps

ShuttyTown · 11/08/2017 20:34

It's amazing

Aliveinwanderland · 11/08/2017 20:36

We only use it for one feed a day as DS is breastfed but wouldn't be without it.

iwannapuppy · 11/08/2017 20:38

We love it. Best baby gadget we bought!

crumble82 · 11/08/2017 20:39

They're amazing. I didn't have one for my first and feeding is so much easier now. I agree about the beep though, it's aggressively loud.

chipscheeseandgravy · 11/08/2017 20:46

Yes a million times!

Keep an eye out on the sales and baby events. We paid about £30 for ours and it was the best money we spent. Am I heck waiting 30 mins while a kettle cools.

Use the brand filters (£10 available from most supermarkets/baby selling places) and follow the cleaning Manual.

You may find you waste milk to begin with as the minimum amount you can make is 4 oz. my ds didn't drink 4oz till about 3 months, but it was worth the money.

IndianaMoleWoman · 11/08/2017 20:47

Yep, amazing.

There are videos on YouTube showing you how to disable the beeps which was very useful with DC2!

Carty76 · 11/08/2017 21:24

Worth every penny. Best thing we bought by a mile.

Hmors · 11/08/2017 21:42

Thanks everyone deffo gonna look into buying one. All the reviews I've read are raving about them lol 👍🏼

Best purchase EVER!

Sorry to be the only negative poster but this is the NHS guidance (via First Steps Nutrition)

www.firststepsnutrition.org/pdfs/Statement_on_formula_preparation_machines_Nov%202016.pdf

Yes they make life easier; yes anything that makes life easier with a newborn is tempting but I wouldn't be happy to accept the risk for my own dc

Clickncollect · 11/08/2017 21:49

Loved mine and wouldn't have been without it!
However, I took great pleasure in packing it away along with the steriliser when my DS turned 1 a couple of months ago so I got a kitchen side back!!

GinIsIn · 11/08/2017 21:53

All that study @TheColdDoesBotherMeAnyway posted says is state that the machine isn't effective as the old school kettle rigmarole if you don't add powder within the two minutes.

That is absolutely fine as the machine is designed not to let you do that. You only get 90 seconds to use the hot shot before the machine resets and refuses to dispense the remaining water for that bottle, forcing you to start again, to guarantee that the bottle you make is done within the safe time limit.

Aliveinwanderland · 11/08/2017 23:15

I'm on holiday without mine at the minute, DS is not impressed with waiting for the kettle to boil for his feed!

I've never met anyone who makes a feed up by the instructions on the tub, it would take ages!

Civilsoot · 12/08/2017 00:38

In regards to the link about the hot shot water cooling too quickly whilst you're adding the formula, I put the formula in first then add the hot shot give it a good swirl until all the formula has dissolved then add the cooled water.

Lemondrop99 · 12/08/2017 12:19

What caste out of the mould in the pipes thing? TT said it was investigating but then I didn't hear any more

ScrunchyBook · 12/08/2017 12:25

We put the formula powder in the bottle first too, otherwise the steam from the hot shot makes the powder stick to the plastic spoon

Afreshstartplease · 12/08/2017 12:37

I think the mould thing was put down to people using ordinary water filters

GlitteryFluff · 12/08/2017 12:51

Watching with interest as tempted for dc2 however I've heard mixed reviews. Some saying they're amazing and some saying about mould and not enough hot water to kill nasties in the formula.

welshweasel · 12/08/2017 12:58

They are amazing. Agree with putting powder in first. I measured the temp of the water once it has finished dispensing the hot shot and mixed with the powder, still way above 70 degrees so no issue. I bought mine for £60 and sold it on eBay for £30 a year later. I always used the TT filters and ran cleaning cycles as recommended and had no issues with mould.

We used to take it up to bed with us in the early days and away for weekends too. Along with the sleepyhead and the Ikea highchair, definitely one of my best buys!

TwinkleTwinkleLittleEtoile · 12/08/2017 13:07

They're amazing. Indispensable for my twins. Never had problems with mould.

Why didn't I think of putting the powder in first though?! I hated the way it stuck to the spoon and got everywhere.

welshweasel · 12/08/2017 13:12

I don't know why they don't recommend it, as it would save the issue with the water cooling down too much. Weird!
