Not sure if I've posted in the right section. Just looking for some reviews about the tommee tippee perfect prep machine. Is it worth the money?

Why didn't I think of putting the powder in first though?!

This is genius!!

Wouldn't be without our Perfect Prep 😊

Honestly loved mine! Ordered it whilst in hospital when it became apparent exclusive BF was not going to work for me. Health Visitor definitely frowned upon but upon doing my own research found that I felt comfortable letting me newborn drink from it, we never had any health or cleaning issues with it. I was always organised with changing the filter and running the cleaning programme - as well as having a regular peek inside the water bit to make sure it looked all clean. I've stored it away for use if I ever have another.

Loved ours and yes to putting formula in first. The people I know who use formula but not the perfect prep get on their high horse about the mould scandal but then use preboiled water to make their bottles Confused. We always followed the cleaning instructions and used TT filters and have had no issues at all.

Ds doesn't wait 2 seconds for a bottle (after being breastfed I think he expects it on tap immediately) so the prep machine is worth its weight in gold. Especially at 3am! Considering buying a second one for upstairs

honeysucklejasmine · 12/08/2017 17:20

I used one and had no problems with it at all. Will use again for dc#2 if necessary.

Migraleve · 12/08/2017 17:25

I just bought readymade milk - open the carton and pour it in

AHobbyaweek · 12/08/2017 17:29

Best thing I brought by far. Ended up getting a second one (replaced for free) when the first had issues with the temperature gauge but Tommie tippee customer services are excellent.

NetflixandBill · 12/08/2017 17:35

Yes, i love it. We take it upstairs for night feeds.

The reason they say not to put the powder in first is that if it's a thick layer of powder it's more likely to clog and for the powder at the bottom to not receive enough hot water to kill the bacteria.

Aworldofmyown · 12/08/2017 18:11

I had one for my third child and oh my goodness it was a revelation!!!!

My DS also recognised the 'beep'!!!!!

BourbonMick · 12/08/2017 18:17

Absolutely amazing.

Blondeshavemorefun · 12/08/2017 20:02

yes love it, i use for my own dd 4mths

tho i am a maternity nurse and have to say to parents that nhs dont recommend them and use kettle/thermos flask method

the mouldy pipes were due to parents

  1. not using proper tt filters £10 each and need replacing roughly every 3mths depending n use of machine
  2. not running filter/sterilizing mode when needed
  3. not lookin after properly and washing in hot soapy water
RaeSkywalker · 12/08/2017 20:06

Wouldn't be without ours. Just make sure you buy the TT filters.

katerebeccaxxx · 12/08/2017 20:49

I got mine a couple of weeks ago from mothercare it was reduced to £50 from £125! i thought it was a bargain as everyone has told me it's amazing! make sure you have a look round for offers x

muffinlondon · 13/08/2017 13:46

God send - I think it's like all baby advice that tries to limit the risk of people not following advice properly.

I also know of no one who followed the instructions on how to make up feeds from the box/NHS

I read up and decided it was better than the alternatives and I was comfortable.

When they're really young you could always get ready made bottles as they won't be drinking 4oz anyway

Blondeshavemorefun · 13/08/2017 19:26

£125??? They are usually 60/80. How can
Mothercare charge that???

muffinlondon · 14/08/2017 17:28

I think that's the RRP - they're always on offer somewhere. The amazon price is often £50-70

AmiShaw · 14/08/2017 18:55

Just bought mine second hand for £10 off of a Facebook Mums group! It was so cheap as the bottle stand had snapped ( rang tommee tippee and they are sending me a new part for free !) fourth baby so going for easy ness this time round ! 😊
