I love it. Edith - nice. Edie - fab! Eddy if she wants to be tom boyish.

Hulababy · 27/03/2007 22:13

I like Edith. Not so keen on Edie as it reminds me of Balamory!

MrsGumby · 27/03/2007 22:14

I like Edith. I really do. But I agree that "Edie" makes me think of that bint from Balamory.

Aloha · 27/03/2007 22:15

I really like and very seriously considered it for dd. It is getting very fashionable now though. AA Gill has just called one of his new twins Edith.

sophiewd · 27/03/2007 22:15

My DD is Edith, Edie for short, we love it and so do all our friends. Go for it.

Rantum · 27/03/2007 22:18

To be brutally honest I am not a huge fan of Edith because it makes me think of my granny's friends (in their 90s), although I know that old fashioned names are v. popular right now. I don't hate it, but it wouldn't be on my list of possibilities.

LucyK1978 · 28/03/2007 09:47

I really like the name Edith.

My first thought was Edith 'Colin&Edith' off radio 1 - she's pretty cool! Is it a Scottish name, or just that she's Scottish...?

KittyLetteMeEatAnEasterEgg · 28/03/2007 09:48

its awful IMO

jdd0709 · 28/03/2007 09:53

i like it - can imagine bith a little girl and a grown woman being called it

littleEasterlapin · 28/03/2007 09:58

Was thinking about the Edie/Factory Girl thing... I reckon that movie will be forgotten fairly soon anyway so I wouldn't worry about that!

nailpolish · 28/03/2007 10:00

i like both

beckybrastraps · 28/03/2007 10:03

I love Edith. Not so keen on Edie, but you can't stop the diminutives creeping in IME.

Nettee · 28/03/2007 11:33

I like Edie, Edith does sound a bit old fashioned but then as other people have said, Edith on Radio 1 isn't old and the old names do seem to be coming round again.

WinkyGirl · 29/03/2007 15:28

Love both.

gerryandmargo · 29/03/2007 15:36

I like both, but Edie is becoming quite popular now, which is one reason Edith would be a more original choice as a name. Then you have the option.

Woooozle100 · 29/03/2007 15:43

I love both. I tried to convince my mate last year to go for Edie / Edith if she had a girl. Its also her nan's name so thought it was a lovely touch.

My dd is called Esme. Great name innit? Don't think I could go for Edie if I had another girl cos too similar

I wouldn't bother too much about the Sienna Miller connection tbh - will all be forgotten about shortly (though Jude Law's offal Alfle put me off that name. As did mad Maya in Coronation St)

LaDiDaDi · 29/03/2007 15:48

I love Edie, suggested it to dp for our dd but it was another one that he ruled out!

fleacircus · 29/03/2007 15:51

I absolutely love the name Edith, would love to use it if I ever have a daughter but sadly DP's surname rules it out. I think it's such a beautiful name, am very sorry not to be able to use it.

TeeCee · 29/03/2007 15:54

Love it.

Love Edith and love Edie.

Really like it.

ceolas · 29/03/2007 16:07

I'm not 100% on Edith but like Edie

Aloha · 29/03/2007 16:09

AA Gill's twins are called Edith and Isaac. My mind is full of this sort of crap!
