Hi guys, this is my first post on here so bare with me 🙈
Has anyone applied for maternity allowance recently and know how long it takes from receiving the form to process it then payment?
I sent it first class, signed for on Monday, they received and signed for it yesterday so just a waiting game now...
Wondered what everyone else's experiences where to see how long I might be waiting, seen mixed reviews from 2 weeks to 8+ weeks 🙈
Thank you 😊

@Ao1307 I hope you hear from them this week then!!
@lilyborderterrier yay that's fab news! So glad it's sorted for you finally... How long was it from start to finish then in the end?
@SarahS2404 how long have you been waiting now?

@Ao1307 they gave me 30th August.... So still a bit to wait for me, that's if they do sort it in the time, then I know it can take another 5-10 days to go into the bank!

I hope so too! Thursday is the deadline so if ive not heard by then i will call them. Im not holding out much hope that i will hear though! Ill let you know when i hear so you know how far behind me you are :)

Ikabod · 20/08/2017 07:32

It took a couple of weeks to receive confirmation. My payslips were returned within a couple of days of sending the form off.

Rachelwebb91 · 20/08/2017 11:15

@Ao1307 fingers crossed you hear by then!! I'm hoping mine isn't too much longer, will make me feel a bit more relaxed about getting nearer to my due date, still need a few bits and will help out a lot!

@Ikabod ahh, not bad at all then! I got all my wage slips etc back within 3 days, but my 24 working days is up on the 30th August so we will see! Fingers crossed

Quick update for you all!
Rang this morning just to see if anything had changed with my claim... And the lady said I've been awarded the £140 a week and I'll have my first payment Wednesday this week!!
I'm so happy, fingers crossed it actually goes in now then that's one massive thing off my mind!

Hope the rest of you get sorted really soon xx

Thanks for the update. Im going to ring now and see if i can get an update. I did ring the other day but the hung up before i got through as it said dont ring until the 24days is up x

Ao1307 · 21/08/2017 09:31

Mine still hasnt been processed 😔 The lady said they have everything but they are currently working on claims they recieved 18/19th so mine will be on track for the end of the week and then ill get a letter next week and possibly a text. Wonder why its different when i had an earlier completion date. Seems odd
still cant see the light at the end of the tunnel lol x

Rachelwebb91 · 21/08/2017 09:38

That's strange... Because they received my claim on the 26th July I think it is...
Are you self employed at all? Think that's a more complicated process than mine...
But still a bloody pain for you!! X

Nope not self employed. Im employed and on maternity leave but havent been there long enough for smp as i changed jobs in feb just before i found out i was pregnant. Fingers crossed for a text at the end of this week but ill wait until next week for a letter and then maybe call them tuesday if i havent heard anything as its bank holiday weekend isnt it. Its just making me really anxious not knowing. Im single and already got a 7 and 4yr old so not an ideal situation as it is 😳

JustSaying99 · 21/08/2017 12:55

I think it was about three weeks from when I sent form to when I received letter stating I would get MA. When they sent back my payslips the wee note said it can take 24 working days so I knew it could be a few weeks. Next step is waiting until I finish up for maternity leave and sending form back with that date to start payments. Situation is accepted new job (dream job) then found out I was pregnant two weeks later so haven't been there long enough to qualify for their maternity package, but they have been great with giving me all they can. MA isn't great (£140 a week) and will be massive drop in my normal salary, but better than nothing I suppose!

meltingmarshmallows · 21/08/2017 15:00

I got my text last week so am waiting too.

Has anyone self employed on this thread been through this? Tax & NI isn't due until Jan so I'm assuming I'll need to pay, but will it be all the NI due from my return? Or a contribution? Not sure what to expect with that.

SarahS2404 · 22/08/2017 22:41

I've been waiting since the 30th of June and I've still heard nothing from them. I'm going to keep mithering then until they give me an answer. It's beyond a joke now and we're living off hardly anything at the moment 😕

Ao1307 · 22/08/2017 22:53

Omg sarah what have they told you so far? Surely your deadline to have it sorted has passed? Im worried that its going to go past my deadline which is the end of this week. When i called she said i should get a letter by next week but it was still in the que to be processed. How something can take so long to be processed is beyond me :/ im single so havent even got another income im just anxiously waiting!

EllaNB · 22/08/2017 23:01

Has everyone received texts? I sent mine mid July and haven't heard anything at all! No text, no letter :( worried that something has happened or they haven't received my claim? I will call tomorrow but I'm worried now as I thought it would be resolved by now xxx

Ao1307 · 22/08/2017 23:11

No i havent had a text x

MerlinsLeftButtock · 04/09/2017 13:01

I've just posted my form off today, recorded signed for ... like the op, I'm not working at the moment and stopped at the end of April. I've worked 36 weeks in my test period so not sure why I'm so nervous about them saying no!
Hope they don't take too long as we are so skint! Are people still waiting??

Rachelwebb91 · 04/09/2017 13:19

Hey! I had literally only worked the 26 weeks in my test period as I stopped working around April too... So you will be completely fine! Mine took 4 weeks pretty much exactly from applying to first payment! So hopefully you wont be waiting too long
😊😊

JustSaying99 · 04/09/2017 13:42

For those who are saying they are still waiting, are they waiting to hear if they will received MA or are they waiting for the first payment after having finished up for maternity leave?

MerlinsLeftButtock · 04/09/2017 13:59

Thanks Rachel, that's very reassuring! And 4 weeks wouldn't be too bad, but obviously would be better if I get it at 29 weeks in the dot 😂Some of the other posters have been waiting so long. I'm only just 26 weeks today so have made sure I'm on the ball!
