Hi guys, this is my first post on here so bare with me 🙈
Has anyone applied for maternity allowance recently and know how long it takes from receiving the form to process it then payment?
I sent it first class, signed for on Monday, they received and signed for it yesterday so just a waiting game now...
Wondered what everyone else's experiences where to see how long I might be waiting, seen mixed reviews from 2 weeks to 8+ weeks 🙈
Thank you 😊

Sorry I meant I thought they paid from 26 weeks!

Rachelwebb91 · 27/07/2017 08:12

Tialeighanne31... Ahhhh, so yours took quiet a bit longer then... No you can apply from 26 weeks but only get payed from 29 weeks for 39 weeks think it is, thinks it's so you can send it off earlier and gives them chance to process it before your actually entitled to be payed!
Glad yours has finally been sorted tho!
Just received the text a minute ago saying that they've received it and a decision will take up to 24 days! Fingers crossed now!

Teainbed... Ahhh, see I'm not self employed so I know I won't have to pay any towards NI etc, as I've been paying it on my wage slips when I was working, but I have heard of that happening to people!

It was a nightmare waiting! I rang literally about 10 times in the end the lady dealing with my claim put in a same day bank payment as I had been waiting over the 5 weeks they tell you to wait!

Rachelwebb91 · 27/07/2017 10:15

Bloody hell! I'm glad you got it sorted in the end tho!!
I'm hoping mine isn't as much of a mess around but you never know when it comes to DWP! I'll wait a couple of weeks then ring to see if they can tell me how it's going at all.. I go visit my parents down south on the 13th August so don't want to miss anything important in the post and delay it at all

Luckily for me I had already finished work before applying so I didn have to wait for the forms which you have to sign and send back otherwise God knows how long id be waiting! Hope yours is quicker!!

Rachelwebb91 · 27/07/2017 16:34

Yeah I finished work back in April but I've worked enough in the test period etc to hopefully qualify! I'm just worried that will say no 🙈
But yeah hopefully that means I've no forms etc to sign and send back and it will make it quicker! We can only hope! 😊

You will be absolutely fine! I finished work on 24th Feb and I qualified for the full amount so you will definitely qualify

Rachelwebb91 · 27/07/2017 17:09

I had a break between my jobs as I was made redundant last August and started my new temp job from oct-april but I just got the 26 weeks in thankfully.. Literally just 26 weeks
Thank you! You've put my mind at ease a bit now, just to wait for it all to come through hopefully 😊

Thought I'd update, had my letter through today to say first payment will be in 5-10 days then fortnightly thereafter starting Fri 25th.
I had asked for them start on Monday but not sure if they're running behind or they only pay on Fridays!
Hope you hear back soon OP.

SarahS2404 · 02/08/2017 20:24

I had a text from them a week after applying saying that I'd have a reply from them in 24 working days x

Rachelwebb91 · 02/08/2017 20:35

Ahhh that's fab grumpysusan!!
Not too long for you then! I did ring them to ask about the turn around right now to see if they where working to schedule etc and she said I would hear something by the 30th August...
So fingers crossed it's not too long! It's been bang on a week so far so not long at all lol x

My payment came through today Smile just thought I'd update to give full picture of my experience / timeline!

lilyborderterrier · 11/08/2017 22:23

It's a bloody nightmare isn't it, I applied for my maternity allowance in good time but they messed up and I'm due a big payment which apparently will clear on the 18th. I hope so I'm totally skint and have a few more bits to buy.

I'm shocked at how slow the maternity allowance is, thankfully my partner is able to pay for stuff but god help me if we were struggling for money !

SarahS2404 · 12/08/2017 07:46

I've been waiting a month and a half now and still nothing 😕 they take forever!

lilyborderterrier · 14/08/2017 18:21

I rang again this morning and they have assured me that the backdated payment is going to be paid in on Friday 18th August!!

We shall see ! What a bloody faff

Rachelwebb91 · 18/08/2017 21:51

Did you get your money in the end lilyborderterrier??

Anyone else with any good news? Nearly 4 weeks for me so not holding out any hope yet...

lilyborderterrier · 19/08/2017 00:50

Hi lovely yes thank god, the money went in today !! Really needed it as I'm having a c section on Thursday and needed a few bits to buy! Phew what a fiasco, hope its set up end regular now !!
Hope everyone gets sorted soon ! Definitely keep phoning as annoying as it is, but it seems like the only way !

SarahS2404 · 19/08/2017 11:44

@Rachelwebb91 still nothing for me yet 🙄

Ao1307 · 19/08/2017 11:53

What date did they give you as the final date for finding out?
