I know there is Aslan but it's not traditional

tatar is slang for "bye bye" in some parts of England. OP is worst person for names. Ever!

OlennasWimple · 14/07/2017 13:26

That's "tata" or "ta ta", isn't it drummergirl?

OP - Aslan is a character in the CS Lewis books about Narnia. If you're not familiar with them, maybe have a look into whether you are happy with the association

I've taught a couple of boys with names that start 'Ars/e' whilst it's fine within their own communities it is difficult for them when mixing with teenagers from a range of backgrounds. I think it's quite a big burden to name a child who will grow up in Britain with a name like this.

Dede124 · 14/07/2017 18:53

Is it a Muslim name?

ToeKneeChestNut · 14/07/2017 18:57

But, if you go for Aslan, everyone's going to think of Narnia.

"Aslan" is a Turkish name, it means "lion." It's not a Muslim name.

Patriciathestripper1 · 15/07/2017 11:21

Why don't you just call him Lion?

Groupie123 · 15/07/2017 11:33

Azlan is the form of Arslan I'm most familiar with.

Alternatively Aynur is my favourite Tatar name.

Elkalv · 15/07/2017 22:43

I loved narnia when I was young. I am not Muslim btw but originally I am Tatar nationality) i am going for Leon as first name

I've known plenty of 'Arslan's and there has been no problem with the name, around Manchester.
