What would you get in for last big shop?!

Hello,

I am having my section on Thursday so we will go do a big shop this week to stock up so we dont need to leave the house for a bit if it's difficult/we dont want to.

Just wondering what people would stock up on? What did you forget that would have been helpful? Anything useful I'm bound to forget?!

TIA

Thanks all. Yes this is my first. I have already gone overboard on the baby wipes. Currently have 22 packs taking up space at the bottom of his wardrobe... Grin

Just on my way home from Tescos, biggest, and most expensive, shop of my life! Probably went a bit overboard with the snacks, hoping I wont need to shop again, possibly ever!

Thank you all for very helpful suggestions. Fingers crossed it all goes well and I'm home gorging on my large choice of cereal bars while bfing!

Well I did the shop yesterday. Biggest, most expensive shop of my life! Feel like a survivalist... Grin. I might have gone overboard with the snacks. Will be livid if I now fail to bf!

Thanks for all your excellent tips, which helped make the shop so massive!

Don't worry you can never have too many baby wipes... mine are a lot bigger now and I still buy a multipack every week with the shopping Smile

And snacks will be needed however you feed as the tiredness and recovery from birth will need plenty energy regardless so they won't go to waste either way.

Well done on being so prepared and good luck Flowers

Agree on the massive pants, best thing ever!

And not wanting to derail the thread, but loads of you are saying maternity pads.... I had a CS and didn't bleed at all afterwards and assumed that was normal. I just thought they sucked it all out! Do most people bleed loads after CS?

Good luck and congrats OP!

Hollyhop17 · 04/07/2017 06:45

Haha thanks Century.

Furry, you seriously didnt bleed? Wow I hope that happens to me. I hate my period at the best of times so the thought of bleeding for 6 weeks is really worrying me...

I bled very little after both my CS. Don't think I used more than 2 packs of pads each time.

20thcenturybitch · 04/07/2017 20:03

We are all different of course but I am sure I only bled for a couple of weeks, not 6, after both my vaginal deliveries so hopefully it won't be so long at all after a section.

Sunshinegirl82 · 04/07/2017 21:03

I had quite a lot of bleeding for 2 to 3 days then it slowed right down.

One other thing I discovered and loved were special c-section knickers! I was unconvinced at first as they're a bit pricy but I loved them! I'm still wearing them now and Ds was 1 last week.

Mine were from mothercare.

I had 2 c's and found them both fine, especially the 2nd. I had morphine the 1st day (and was violently sick in front of my hoard of visitors), think that's standard but went onto paracetamol next day and came home on nothing. It was uncomfortable, but never painful - in fact I kept forgetting not to lift things. One thing I would add is that I found a saltwater ( Epsom salts) bath every day really helped my scar heal, and Arnica tablets for the internal bruising too. And use baby wash/gentle soap rather than heavily perfumed stuff. And plenty of pairs of big scary granny pants, at least 2 sizes bigger than usual.

@Hollyhop17 I think your shopping is quite restrained.
My final shop before babies has always included a hefty amount of pregnancy contraband:

Gin
Pâté
Mouldy cheese
Wine
Gin
Gin

Good luck all the best and fingers crossed for a great recovery.

Happy snacking Grin

Ginliness, a woman after my own heart! Fear not, there is prosecco packed in my hospital bag and a hefty supply of gin at home. My DSIL works at Marks and has also stocked up on some of their new flavoured gins... Suffice to say she will be one of the first visitors Grin

I have got massive stretchy granny pants from primark but thanks for the mothercare tip for section specific ones. Will get some if these dont work.

Hadnt thought about showering with non perfumed stuff, nor epsom salts. Is a bath or a shower easier would you guys say?

Thanks for the continuing tips, super helpful!
