Hi!!
This is my first EVER post on here so please bare with me! These forums have saved my life with our first son, you know those grim evenings.... It's 3am and you feel like you've been constantly breastfeeding for your entire life so you Google how to cope or how to progress things?! These places gave me hope back then!!
But here we are now expecting our second child (currently 20w+3), I was pretty certain what sex this next baby would be and was shocked at the answer I got from our sonogropher last week!! The fact that I never got to see our babies bits doesn't help but he so quickly looked then changed the view!!! So I'm left in doubt! I honestly don't mind either way, I'm so relieved baby seems healthy, but to expect one thing and then be told another... It's hard to get your head around.
So for a bit of fun (I'm not sure if I want to pay for another scan to find out) .. What would you guess from this?! This is was at 12 weeks as I have no shots of the bum area at 19 weeks 😢
Thanks!!

Hahaha well, I was told a boy! Which kinda works out well as we were having a nightmare thinking of girls names!! But I was convinced it looked like a girl, even the shape of his skull Compred to my little boys scab!! Oh well, maybe he'll look more like me than my husband as our first son is his double!! Thanks for guesses though, I had a giggle!

You think it's "mean spirited" of posters to point out that a fully trained sonographer is far more likely to know what's what than you are?
Ok, dear.

Soubriquet · 23/06/2017 10:44

Will be interesting to see if it's a girl now after this won't it

Nub theory is not 100% but still

Soubriquet · 23/06/2017 10:47

I've just googled skull theory too and that is pointing towards girl aswell

Cwhits87 · 23/06/2017 10:48

Oh flog yourself floggingmolly, yawn!
Haha yeah it certainly will be Soubriquet, hope he wasn't wrong or they're will have to be a mad shopping spree with a very sore foof hahaha!!

Oh never Soubriquet 😂😂
If it is a girl the poor dada will be to pick up, he was dreading dealing with boyfriends!!!

Could buy some neutral clothing just in case

I had no doubt with my two as I was under consultant care so got regular scans with both. Right up to 35 weeks.

It was very obvious what they were from there. Even a child could have picked it out

Kadena127 · 23/06/2017 10:52

You do know the purpose of the anomaly scan is not to find out the gender right?

Cwhits87 · 23/06/2017 10:55

I do indeed, thank you Kadena127.

OP I don't know from your pic, but think it's easier for sonographers to see that babies are male. I was completely shocked to be told we were having a boy, fully expected a girl for some reason!

Mama05070704 · 23/06/2017 11:04

From my 12 week scans, everyone guessed I was having girls based on the shape of their skulls. I have 2 boys.

Cwhits87 · 23/06/2017 11:04

I think what hasn't helped is that our first son was just so obvious, I even could see from his 12 week scan! I'm glad to see that other ppl have guessed girl too like me, kinda made me feel like I thought that because... It's what it looks like not because I secretly wanted a girl! Girls terrify me to be honest but these hormones do funny things to you!!
Might not be a bad idea Soubriquet!!!

To add, I was also convinced I was having girls with both.

TheHeartOfTeFiti · 23/06/2017 11:11

If you really want to check get a private scan they'll take time show you everything and you can take your other child.

Cwhits87 · 23/06/2017 11:22

I think I am going to TheHeartOfTeFiti yeah, I'm sure the sonogropher probs knew what he was talking about but because I didn't see, it just doesn't sit quite right with me. Plus with this being my last planned pregnancy at least I can say I had one of those 3d scans ☺️

I knew before I even scrolled down that you were psychically convinced it was a girl.

But you were told it was a boy by the professional who has done this a thousand times.

OP, you're having a boy.

ASDismynormality · 23/06/2017 11:27

I was told I was having a girl and in fact had a boy. It's unusual to be told you are having a boy and for them to be wrong.

Cwhits87 · 23/06/2017 11:32

Yeah I would think it's a more common mistake to say it's a girl when in fact it's a boy ASDismynormality, once that peepees out there it doesn't go back in 😂

Just enjoy your pregnancy and look forward to the surprise when you give birth....

calimommy · 24/06/2017 06:33

Well I had very similar pregnancies with my two boys and this one is so different that I assumed it was a girl, but no it's definitely a third boy. We had genetic testing and at the 22 wk scan I had a rod and tackle looming over me on the screen 😂 but I still feel so different it's funny. I would definitely trust the sonographer though.

calimommy · 24/06/2017 06:36

We only found out what we are having this time, for various reasons, but the two previous were a surprise. And it's no harm we did because I probably would have started getting rid of all my boy stuff because I was so convinced 😝

MacTaylorsSecretWife · 24/06/2017 06:50

I've got 2 children and had a still birth and all 3 times I knew the sex of the baby from very early on.

We agreed that we wouldn't find out and I can't seem to read scans like other people so no spotting anything on those but I had a gut feeling each time, so much so that I didn't even consider names for the opposite sex so I can understand how you would feel that you also knew what the sex was going to be.

RadiatorWatch · 24/06/2017 06:51

I think a boy from the scan photos.
You could get a private scan just to 'confirm' it.
I know how you feel though, with my first I was convinced I was having a boy, everyone thought my scans looked like a boy, my pregnancy symptoms were all old wives tales for a boy, and then the sonographer said she would be a girl.

OnNaturesCourse · 24/06/2017 09:36

Jee, I've only read half the replies on this and I am ashamed to be part of such a group.

Some people need to get off their poncie high horse.

It is entirely possible that the sonographer got it wrong. It happens more than people think. Do those on here not know that, or have they never had a gut feeling?

OP came on here asking us to guess from her scan picture, she did not ask anyones opinions on anything else.

To your question OP from your scan I would guess girl. Xxx
