Does c section usually equal vomiting?

This may seem like an unusual question, bear with me!

I know a lovely lady who is soon having a csection. Both of us are emetophobia (phobic of vomiting).

She is very anxious about her planned csection and that she will be sick and is finding horror stories of vomiting during csection.

I'm hoping that some of you could post on here your stories about a csection and how the likelihood is lower than she is concerned about.

I know that nothing is a dead cert in life but she's arranged to have anti sickness on iv and I wish I could do something to help quell her anxiety a little so I'm hoping this thread will do the job.

I've had 2 ELCSs and threw up during the first but I don't think I did during the second.

I didn't vomit. Felt very slightly queazy when I saw the cut (reflected in the metal lights) but looked away and felt fine.

I has an emergency C section and didn't vomit or feel especially nauseous afterwards.

I felt nauseous during a subsequent elective C section and told the anaesthetist who immediately gave me something which did the trick. I felt pretty sick about 8 hours afterwards, I think it was the drugs wearing off. As soon as the midwives saw me, they gave me an anti emetic. Again, this did the trick.

I would tell the midwives in advance if you have a serious phobia of vomiting and mention it in your birth plan. No one will want you to get into a state of distress if it can be avoided and I think they worry about the wound if you are really heaving.

Good luck!

I did vomit during my Elcs (there's always one), and the anaesthetist commented that my (naturally low) blood pressure had dropped. What I didn't know was that if I felt sick, they could do something about it, so if might help your friend if she knows that she should say something as soon as she feels sick, and the anaesthetist should be able to help.

I had an emcs following 12hrs of syntocin and a few hours pushing etc. I do recall when I was holding my son straight after birth saying Oh I feel a bit sick. I am assuming it was due to the blood loss and 12hrs on an epidural making my BP too low. Wasn't actually sick and don't think they gave me anything for it.
