Slim people - did your belly button pop?

I'm currently 28+4 and my belly button is really shallow and stretched-looking Sad The only people I know who didn't get an outie are overweight and had deep ones to begin with - any slim people about who can reassure me theirs stayed an innie?

I'm horribly freaked out about it, the very idea of it popping makes me

Ooh yes. Complete outy now. It sort of went back in post first pregnancy but will never be the same again. If yours does pop be warned, it's not used to being touched and may need some moisturiser.

TheSleeperandTheSpindle · 21/05/2017 10:29

Size 6-8 and mine went really flat but didn't pop, went back to normal afterwards.

What I didn't expect was that it turned a brownish colour. Am I the only one that happened to? Confused It went back to normal colour within about 3 months of having DS

AHedgehogCanNeverBeBuggered · 21/05/2017 12:05

A brownish colour?? What fresh horror is this? Shock

You might want to skip this post OP. I was super slim and mine popped both times. Soon went back afterwards Smile

PingusMistress · 21/05/2017 15:23

Mine popped, which I really wasn't expecting as it was super deep and I'd never seen the bottom of it! Got to give it a good clean though! Grin

Regarding baby, be aware that there will be a bit of umbilical cord attached to their belly button for a week or two, usually with a clip on the end. It dries up and falls off but it is a bit gross and best to be prepared if you are sensitive about these things!

FatOldBag · 21/05/2017 15:49

I've been slim and fat (3 pregnancies) and it didn't make a difference, it still popped every time. Mine also went brown and I had various shades of a linea nigra as well!

BayLeaves · 21/05/2017 15:52

I'm usually a petite size 8-10 and when I'm not pregnant I have an innie, I'm now 38 weeks pregnant and I seem to have gone past the flat stage but not totally popped outwards either!

Gross belly photo for reference Grin

I can definitely say I was thin when pg. so much so that I dropped to 6.5 stone with ds.

I didn't pop with either pregnancy.

BayLeaves · 21/05/2017 15:56

Wow HoneyDragon that's tiny. Did you have HG?!

I have put on nearly 3 stone in this pregnancy Blush I am normally about 8.5 stone, now I'm over 11! I'm not overly worried though because it's my second, the first pregnancy I was the same and I was back in my normal clothes and normal weight within a couple of weeks or so after giving birth.

HoneyDragon · 21/05/2017 15:58

HG with both, ecoli with one as well, and a dropped bladder meaning I couldn't pee for 6 days.

I'm not very good st being pregnant Grin

HoneyDragon · 21/05/2017 15:58

I did put it all back on in the last two months of each though. I ate all the things.

MinkowskisButterfly · 21/05/2017 16:04

I was over weight and mine popped! Could work either way I guess. Two years later it is almost back in after physio for a diastisis recti .

Winniethepooer · 21/05/2017 16:07

7 pregnancies. Slim size 8 & never experienced my belly button 'popping'!

PurpleTraitor · 21/05/2017 16:08

No popping. Size 10. It was a fairly deep innie to start with though, just went flat and sensitive and gross. Back to deep innie no, though there more fat around it than there used to be.

SleepFreeZone · 21/05/2017 16:09

It depends on your belly button surely. Mind is pretty deep and I carried small and it didn't pop.

Teabagtits · 21/05/2017 16:12

I was slim and flat stomached (6pack style) with dd and kept my deep belly button as an innie. I'm heavier now and it's more shallow but still and innie. My morbidly obese friend got an out in the teen weeks of pregnancy so I'm not convinced starting weight has much to do with it.

silkpyjamasallday · 21/05/2017 16:14

Mine popped out quite early, but as the bump got bigger it got stretched and ended up being flat and smooth and I looked like I had no belly button at all. It made me feel really sick and still does even just thinking about it.

halfbuffy · 21/05/2017 16:20

Mine has stayed flat so far (38 + 5), but I think it's because I've had a couple of laparoscopies and it's been stitched up...I was very worried about it just bursting open but the midwife just laughed when I asked her!

OpalIridescence · 21/05/2017 16:26

Mine popped with first, went back in then popped out with second and went back in again.

I developed a disturbing habit of stroking my pregnancy outie over and over, it felt like a soft squishy comfort blanket and a husband repeller in one ( he has belly button issues) twas bliss Smile

NotEvenListening · 21/05/2017 16:30

This is my 3rd baby. It never popped with either dd's but my bump was never really huge. I'm 34 weeks and huge now with ds and although it hasn't popped it is level and if he gets a kick in the right place it raises out. I hope it doesn't pop because it actually makes me feel sick (ridiculous I know)

PrincipalCelestia · 21/05/2017 16:51

I'm a size 10 and mine didn't pop. Just went very flat and wide.
Same with both pregnancies.

jinglebellmel · 21/05/2017 17:44

I was a size 12 and didn't pop with my first (slimmer this time around though and I'm pretty sure it will soon!)

reetgood · 21/05/2017 17:49

This is a thing?Confused Well that's not in my baby app (currently 7w).

Damn if they told you half the stuff that happens..

AyeAmarok · 21/05/2017 17:50

Mine never popped. It just went flatter, a bit like Bay's actually, IIRC.

It went back to normal afterwards too.

SasBel · 21/05/2017 17:50

Mine did at 35 weeks with all 3, sank back properly each time.
