I'm 10 weeks pregnant and have had no morning sickness. Someone told me that morning sickness was a sign of a very healthy pregnancy.

Any other pregnant mums out there NOT feeling sick?

Gosh - this is a really old thread isn't it?

MrsC2010 · 04/07/2010 11:13

I had none whatsoever and am 36 wks with a totally healthy baby. (Fingers crossed.) All morning sickness is is your personal response to the hormones, some react and some don't. It might be different with your next pregnancy!

MrsC2010 · 04/07/2010 11:14

Oh is it?

DuelingFanjo · 04/07/2010 11:25

it is, but I did mean to add - I have had no morning sickness at all and am now almost 17 weeks. I was terrified but it's all turned out well. Some women just don't get any.

GoldenKippers · 05/07/2010 15:31

I'm 18 weeks now and occasionally felt a tiny bit sick from about week 7 to 12, but it was so mild it didn't bother me or stop me doing anything. My mum said she was the same. I was only sick one time on a train, which was probably travel sickness. In fact I think the emphasis on getting sick (and other things such as constipation) probably causes undue anxiety in women who have little or no sickness (or constipation).

My first pregnancy was a missed miscarriage, and the sonographer said perhaps the pregnancy symptoms had lessened at some point during the past 12 weeks. I said I hadn't felt sick at all and she said something like "Perhaps that was a sign"! Which I thought was not necessarily accurate as the midwife told me it's normal not to get any sickness.

MrsGangly · 05/07/2010 17:06

A friend of mine having twins had no sickness whatsoever, whereas I been vomiting since about 9 weeks with one baby.

(We are both about 37 weeks now).

Freeasabird58 · 07/07/2010 21:00

I;m currently 24+5 and i have had no sickness whatsoever.

We don't know the gender of the baby so who knows?! xx

MogTheForgetfulCat · 07/07/2010 22:09

Aaarrgghhh! I hate hate hate that "Ooh, morning sickness is a sign of a good, strong pregnancy" thing. I had no morning sickness with DS1, and a tiny bit of mild nausea with DS2 - and spent the early stages of my pregnancy with each of them in a state of advanced gibber because I didn't have a "strong" pregnancy - expected to see blood every time I went to the loo. It's easy to say "Oh, enjoy not having any sickness" but not if you're terrified it's a sign that your pregnancy is about to end.

hbmpsmum · 08/09/2010 19:49

I have been reading all the comments on morning sickness and am completely confused. This is my 5th pregnancy and I am 47. My last pregnancy was 12 years ago. I had four healthy girls with my ex husband and have never miscarried. 1st pregnancy, absolutely no nausea, 2nd pregnancy a little bit of nausea, 3rd pregnancy a little bit more and the 4th I felt really grim from about 5 wks to 13 weeks. Because of my age and various other fertility reasons, this pregnancy is a much wanted miracle with my partner. I am now a mere 5 wks and 2 days and although my breasts are definitely larger, tender and achey, and I do seem to be constipated and I had a positive pregnancy test, I am not feeling in the slightest bit nauseus. Could it be true that older Mothers are less prone to nausea, as someone earlier commented? Could it make a difference that it is a different Father? Could it be that a 12 year break has given my body a chance to recover and is therefore not reacting as much to the hormone changes? If anyone has any answers, I would be very grateful as I am a nervous wreck, worrying that something will be wrong and expecting blood everytime I go to the loo.

sam26oscar · 08/09/2010 21:16

hbmpsmum oh i wish that were true !! i am an "older" mum to be and this pg the m/s is by far the worse, i thought it was because i am older this time round, last pg 6 years ago and although felt some nausea this has been downright nasty!!! You still have time for it to set in though!!! Mine started at 6 weeks and only stopped 2 weeks ago even now get the occasional day and am 15 weeks!!

hbmpsmum · 09/09/2010 12:10

sam26oscar,
Sorry to hear that you are suffering so badly. I know it's no fun and I never thought the day would come when I wanted to feel sick!! Apart from the sickness factor, have you found this pregnancy stressful in others ways, because of the age factor? Perhaps you're not quite as old as me ....not many expectant Mums are!

i am 14 weeks pregnant and had no morning sickness at all i just see it as a good thing and people keep telling me how lucky i am!

DuelingFanjo · 09/09/2010 16:14

I'm 40 and had no morning sickness at all, am now almost 27 weeks :)

stuffedmk · 09/09/2010 17:18

I had no morning sickness with DS. In contrast I had morning sickness with a pregnancy earlier in the year which ended at 10+4 and I have it again at the moment (fingers crossed this one gets further). Basically morning sickness is not really something to wish on yourself, your pregnancy can be perfectly healthy without it so count yourself lucky.

sam26oscar · 09/09/2010 17:21

hbmpsmum am 40 and apart from the m/s no not stressful at all, have no extreme tiredness which i did with DS1, am more relaxed which considering its been 6 nearly 7 years since last pregnant i thought i would be as anxious as i was first time iyswim!!

Kazmog · 09/09/2010 18:55

I am 39 and earlier this year had a baby (who was sadly stillborn and totally unrelated to sickness etc.) with very very mild nausea but more tiredness. I am now 6 weeks pregnant and feeling shocking from 4/5 weeks - infact before I even realised I was pregnant. I don't seem to have any rest from the sickness all day long - infact it wakes me up at night... hoping that it will settle down soon.

maminoz · 04/10/2010 18:09

First child (daughter) no sickness at all, 2nd child (daughter) morning sickness for first 12 weeks and 3rd child (boy) sick as a dog for the whole pregnancy!! On sickness tablets not able to work the whole lot... I found pasta cheese made me worse with the 3rd and all I could stomach was meat with my 3rd and I'm not a meat lover.
But then I have heard people say 3rd + pregnancies are worse so I am quite reluctant to have no 4!!

Flighttattendant · 04/10/2010 18:22

Envy is all I can say!

I had severe morning sickness with both of mine, both boys, both healthy...fwiw

From about 5 and a half weeks till about 20 weeks. It got slightly better at about 14 weeks each time but didn't go for ages.

I dread going through that again, but would love more babies. I wish there was an answer.

Honeybee79 · 04/10/2010 18:27

I am due on Weds and never had any morning sickness at all. I worried about it too but try not to - every pregnancy is different and plenty of women don't get any sickness and have perfectly healthy pregnancies.

Congrats on your pregnancy and good luck!

tweeza · 03/12/2010 22:28

I had morning sickness with both my girls - aged 24 and 4.
Recently when having a donor egg treatment, I only had the slightest nausea. It worried me, as I felt it wasn't quite right.
Sure enough, on Friday 13th August, I miscarried.

DiscoDaisy · 03/12/2010 22:30

I had no morning sickness with any of my 5 full term pregnancies. The only one I did have morning sickness with was the one that ended in a miscarriage at 11 weeks.

busylizzy278 · 05/12/2010 20:52

thank you Mogtheforgetfulcat....that's exactly how I'm feeling. 7 weeks and anxious everyday (and every toilet trip!) that this pregnancy might end in MC because I have no morning sickness. I know I can't do anything to change the fate of miscarrying, but I can't help but worry! I'm keeping my fingers crossed.... x x

Jemscared · 30/12/2010 23:15

I am 10 weeks and have had NO morning sickness... I'm a little tired but only occasionally and on some days, but I actually feel completely normal. Boobs are a teeny bit sore, my skin went mental a few weeks ago but is now clear again... ummm..... nothing else. Oh I have to get up to wee in the night and I get constipated which is really lovely.

But I am so terrified. I have my first scan on Sunday 2nd Jan. I have this horrible feeling I'm going to lose it, or that they'll tell me it's already gone... and that it's a missed miscarriage... I'm just worrying myself so much as I can't work out whether what I'm feeling is instinctive, or just anxiety?! This site has reassured me a bit though.

Honestly, if I hadn't have missed my periods I would never know I was pregnant.

It's crazy.

I also am still really thin and haven't put on any weight, and basically I actually feel better than I did before?!

Haven't even been getting mood swings. I hate it that I have to worry that something is not right. Sometimes I feel so normal that I even question if I dreamed the whole thing!! Oh - and midwife hasn't taken my blood yet. So I'm literally just a bit of a nervous wreck. I know it's out of my hands, I get that. But talk about 'Welcome to a whole new world of worrying'!

dannieb1979 · 06/01/2011 06:52

I have read every single post on this as also worried, I have had NO morning sickness (yet) Im am only 4-5 wks so early days but i have had lots of other pregnancy symptoms, really sore boobs, lots of burping, occasional heartburn and fatigue. I have gagged a couple of times at strong smells ie strong cheese and cigarette smoke, but thats about it.
Im worried as I keep reading that morning sickness = a healthy pregnancy. On the Wiki site, it goes as far to say that the lack of morning sickness can be a sign of birth defects, which has just completely freaked me out.
Thanks for all the previous posts if it wasn't for this thread i would be a nervous wreak.
By the way I am a big worrier ( As you can tell )
Can't believe I'm wishing morning sickness on myself. It sounds completely insane.
