Miscarrying at 10 wks can anyone tell me what to expect

It's happening on its own and I am scared. The embryo died at 8 weeks. It measures 1.6cm. I don't think it has come out yet but I've been bleeding for 12hrs, started with pink spotting 36hrs ago. Now it's red but not flowing like AF. Nothing comes out unless I go to the loo. I'm not in much pain yet.

I can call GP on Monday morning or go to EPU. I guess they need to check it has all come out.

Has anyone experienced this and how long did it take to pass the embryo? Would I be crazy to go to work tomorrow?

Sorry if this is in the wrong topic. I couldn't see a miscarriage / pregnancy loss section.

Oh bless you, I'm so sorry your going through this, but very pleased to hear that you're home and not at work.

I had a MMC at 10 weeks in December, baby had stopped growing at about 8 weeks. I started with very light pink spotting on day 1, saw EPU on day 3 by which time my bleeding had turned into the beginning of a period. The managed to fit me in for an MVA on day 4, like you I just wanted it over with.

I don't remember having any pain until the evening of day 3 when I just had really bad back ache. I passed a really big clot that evening and thought it odd, but looking back, that was probably the baby, I just didn't know it at the time.

So you may well pass most of it before your surgery, but they'll still want you to go in and get checked out so they can see if everything has passed.

Lots of luck to you and pleased that your OH is there with you to keep you company. Take it easy this week and don't go in until you feel ready. I think I went back too soon, but you may be able to get signed off by your GP if you feel next week like you need some more time. Take care of yourself and be selfish, you're totally allowed to be.

Bought a shit load of nice clothes and shoes and a handbag from the OUTNET and Net a Porter. Now having a glass of wine. Backache and bleeding have got worse but still bearable. While I still feel ok I'm trying to get a few things done, it's just a waiting game I guess.

Just been to the loo and I'm pretty sure it has now come out, I didn't look but I'm almost certain (sorry if this upsets anyone). Pain is like bad AF now but not as bad as I thought it would be. DH now making me a cup of tea.
Hoping this means I won't need surgery but if there is any chance anything is left I'll still opt for it.

I'm so sorry Grumpy. I hope it's all over soon and you don't need the surgery.

PrimeraVez · 16/05/2017 08:52

So sorry you're going through this. I had a MC at nearly 10 weeks 4 weeks ago. I ended up having surgical management because to be honest, I just couldn't bring myself to go through it naturally, alone at home. T

he whole situation is seriously shit but I found that once the bleeding was over, I felt a lot better, I guess because there was no physical reminder? I took a pg test every few days afterwards until it turned negative - it took nearly 3 weeks and seeing that second pink line was an absolute killer at first so be prepared if you choose to test it out.

Please, please, please don't feel embarrassed or ashamed. MC is such a bloody lonely and isolating experience, however great your DH is. I took so much comfort from talking to others who had been through the same thing. Best of luck.

TheGrumpySquirrel · 16/05/2017 08:57

Thank you, I didn't want to do it at home either but it ended up happening anyway this morning as my surgery isn't till Wednesday. It wasn't as bad as I feared. It's like a heavy AF now the main part is out, but comes in waves. Hope I won't need the surgery now.

I'm going to leave it at least a week or two before I test, I have lots of IC pregnancy test strips. I know it's likely to stay positive for a while. Thanks for your support.

Unfortunately it's been an absolutely fucking traumatic day for me in A&E then acute gynaecology unit. I felt ok initially after passing some stuff this morning but after lunch suddenly felt sick shaky and weak and the bleeding got uncontrollably heavy. Got to A&E then referred to AGU where they removed "a large amount" of pregnancy tissue that was stuck in the neck of the womb (no anaesthetic). Now they've sent me home even though I still have a small amount of retained products - they say I'll bleed for next 2-3 weeks as that comes out. Surgery tomorrow is cancelled. So, so miserable Sad

Same thing happened to me squirrel passed out on the toilet and woke up in an ambulance because of the same thing. Not my finest moment.
It does get better, i know it doesn't feel like it right now though Flowers

TheGrumpySquirrel · 16/05/2017 20:10

@NovaArt3mis thank you I'm home now and resting but too scared to eat in case I need emergency surgery, argh I know most of it is out but just so fearful

NovaArt3mis · 16/05/2017 20:54

Have something light like toast but I don't think you'll need surgery (at least not as an emergency/short notice patient)
I went for a scan 4 days after my hospital/blocked womb trauma and still had retained products, they came away naturally over the next 2 weeks then got my period about 6 weeks after the actual mc.

Monkeypuzzle32 · 16/05/2017 20:57

Very sorry to hear this OP.

TheGrumpySquirrel · 16/05/2017 20:57

Thank you they've given me a scan date for 2 weeks time as there is still a bit of tissue in there - doctor thought it would come out gradually without heavy bleeding. Told me to come back if bleeding gets as bad as it did earlier.

TheGrumpySquirrel · 16/05/2017 20:59

Meh just realised scan is in 3wks.

NovaArt3mis · 16/05/2017 21:01

Yeah, I think their advice was if you soak through a pad more than once every hour to call them.

Physically it was plain sailing for me after I'd been discarged from the hospital, I hope it is for you too. Be kind to yourself, it's a truly horrible thing to go through.

TheGrumpySquirrel · 16/05/2017 21:08

Thank you so much x

Just wanted to add my best wishes Flowers

Squirrel I just want to say you're not alone. It sounds to me like we are more or less at the same point. I have been miscarrying since Saturday, and think I passed the baby last night or early this morning. It felt like contractions, and something came out (sorry if TMI).So far I've managed to avoid needed emergency treatment. I have a scan booked for next Thursday, so I guess we'll see what happens then. If you want to talk, either on here or by PMing me, please do. I've been finding it really useful to know I'm not the only one experiencing this.x

ElleMcElle · 16/05/2017 22:39

I don't have much to add - I just wanted to send you my very best wishes. To you too, Springersprung. xxxxx

TheGrumpySquirrel · 17/05/2017 04:02

@Springersprung so sorry to hear you are also going through this. Yes I also felt contraction like cramps yesterday morning before passing the main part. Remember to get to hospital if your bleeding gets really heavy (like filling a pad more than once an hour). I didn't realise I had anything stuck because I wasn't actually in pain, just felt horrendous like I was about to faint and the bleeding was filling a night pad every 20-30 mins. Thank fuck that is over now.
Rest up and let me know if you want to PM, I can't check it on the app x

I want to go back to yoga at some point but I'm guessing tampon / mooncup not advisable? I don't want to wear fucking nappies for 3 weeks.
