Just got my BFP, worries!

Hello :)

I got my BFP on Monday on a frer test at 12DPO and 3 days from AF. Since then I've had a positive digital (Pregnant 1-2 weeks) at 13DPO and continued to test on cheapies each day and seen the line getting darker and stronger. Should I continue to do this to monitor?

My last AF was 1st April so this pregnancy would be dated at 4weeks 4 days already.

I'm absolutely petrified I'll have a chemical pregnancy (I had one back in March) and have booked a Dr's appointment but the earliest they can see me is 26th May. Will this be ok? I would be 7 weeks by then.

Ahhh the mug idea sounds so cute!

Yes I think we will more than likely rent and then buy when credits built up! You're right, and there's no rush! I'm so excited but my anxiety is through the roof. It's like I'm just expecting something to go wrong 😢 how are you today? How are your hormones pains and hormones? xx

@HannahD1991

Yes lots of pulling here too, bit of a dull ache. Think I'm just scaring myself reading about what can go wrong as well.. Confused need to keep reminding myself that it all ok and what will be will be. More likely to all go well that anything go wrong...

I've found a place to get a private scan at 8/9 weeks so I think I'm going to do that to put my mind at ease - unless docs offers me one.

My belly is huge!? I think i'm just realllly bloated.

@owltrousers Ah I keep googling everything and just automatically assuming the worst! I emailed a clinic in my area yesterday who offer early reassurance scans, so I'm hoping to have one at 8 weeks. I think it definitely sounds worth it! But you're right, positive thinking!!! We will be ok :)

All I've done is eat 😳 I feel so bloated but I'm thinking it's because of how much I've been eating haha! But there is a lot going on down there! When is your Dr's appointment? X

Not til 26th May, before then I'm going to Birmingham for a wrestling show and then to Paris for our late honeymoon for a few days so some good distractions along the way at least! When is yours?

I am so hungry right now, I'm already planning dinner.. and dessert.

Ahhh, so jealous I love Paris! That's good that you have things to take your mind off it for a few weeks! Are you gonna go for the early scan? I've tried to call today to book one but no answer. Will try again later, i def won't be able to wait that long and a few people have said to do it!

I had my Dr's appointment today, he literally just took my blood pressure and medical history, gave me the midwife number to book in and prescribed me some folic acid 'preconceive', I was told pregnacare is best but surely they're all the same?

After eating enough food for about a week yesterday I have no appetite today! Xx

Hey @HannahD1991 !

I think I'll defo try and get the early scan at 9/10 weeks, me and DH discussed it and although its a lot of money (£75 on average) it would put our minds at rest a lot. I think you can have them anywhere from 6 weeks, although I think 8 weeks + is the recommendation.

I really think the NHS should offer an 8 week scan, 12 weeks is so long to wait - I suppose its too stretched though :(

I feel really blue today. My bus for work never arrived which meant I waited for 90 minutes in the cold (and it was cold!) which is never a good start. I got to work at 10.30 when I'm supposed to start at 9 so I'm in trouble. My bosses are angry at me for booking all my holiday in May/June for some reason so I really feel like I'm in the doghouse here at the moment. Didn't sleep very well last night either, uncomfortable feeling tummy and my boobs are so sore I had to wear my bra in bed!

Ah so you get folic acid from the docs do you? I bought some a few weeks ago and have been taking it daily but its just superdrug own brand stuff.

@owltrousers ah Im sorry to hear you're having such a bad day :( I know how you feel, I was having a lot of stress at work and the Dr signed me off for a few weeks - it's really cleared my head and I'm feeling a lot better. It might be an idea to tell your boss that you are pregnant as they have a duty of care to pregnant women. I am thinking of telling my boss in a couple of weeks just because of my history of stress/anxiety at work.

Yeah the Dr prescribed it but I have a generic one I bought from boots a week ago which cost me £1.50 and this one one was £8 which is probably is the exact same!!

Yeah the NHS should! I have found a clinic near me offering before the stork scans for £45 which isn't too bad but still! Hope your day gets better!! Xx

hey @HannahD1991

thanks for asking! I've actually had the last two days off to go see some live wrestling in Birmingham so it's been a nice break! Not enjoying a beer with everyone else was hard tho! I also caved and told my sister about the pregnancy, she has an 8 month old and so has tons of stuff we can have - and she is really excited! Symptoms seem to have died down a bit apart from my sore boobs, and I can't wear my jeans done up at all! Blush

How are you?

@owltrousers sorry for the late reply, had a crazy week. How was the wrestling?

I had some pains and bleeding a couple days ago so went the EPU and they booked me in for an emergency scan today. Thank god everything was ok and the heart beat was flickering away! She said I have a very large cyst though which was probably causing the pain, but it should go away by the 12th week! So relieved I thought it was the end Sad

How's everything going with you? X

@HannahD1991 Good to hear from you! have been thinking about you and wondering how you've been getting on.

That sounds a bit scary about the bleeding and pain, so glad everything is ok for you though - it must've been so nice to hear the heartbeat! I've read about people having cysts show up on scans before and then totally disappear in a few weeks. Hopefully plain sailing for you from here.

I'm fine, just feeling more pregnant by the day! My tummy is so big and puffy and I'm finding it hard to get comfy in bed so not sleeping well either. The wrestling was great as well, although seeing everyone carrying multiple pints of beer was a tease! Grin

I've had a lot bloating / cramping / uncomfortableness but no blood apart from a few -very- faint browny bits which I assume is old blood. Feels like everything is well and truly stretching out.

I bought a baby name book today Blush

You can stop testing. One very faint positive is all you need. After that, assume you are pregnant unless bleeding or a scan says otherwise.

@owltrousers Thank you! It was lovely, I'll put a pic of the scan below so you can see. How tiny!!! Hopefully at my 12 week scan the cyst will be gone! Yeah the nurse told me that brown spotting is normal, I think when it's your first you just worry about every little thing don't you?

I'm feeling very pregnant at the min too, my stomach feels so bloated and my jeans definitely have gone up in size already 🙈. I have had sickness too, have you?was in the car this morning and I was sick in a plastic bag 🤢

Glad to hear you had a good time at he wrestling. How's work been? Have you been back yet? X

@HannahD1991 hello!

Sorry for the delay - we've been in Paris for our late late honeymoon :)

Aw your scan pic is amazing, I showed DH so he could get a rough idea what ours might look like!

Omg I haven't had any sickness at all. Like almost feel completely normal at the moment - not even very bloated. Everything seems to have eased off a bit, I hope that's an OK sign!

We have the option to have an early scan on Saturday, which will be 8 weeks. Really not sure whether to go for it or wait it out for a few more weeks. What do you think?

@owltrousers Ahh how was Paris?! Bet it was amazing. That's good that your symptoms have eased off, some people only get minor symptoms! To be honest I've only been sick this week because I've got a horrible cold and I've had pains but I think that's just due to the cysts. I'm hoping that in a few weeks I'll be glowing! Hmm

Ahh yeah just go for it if you are feeling anxious, I was going to get one at 8 weeks but now I've had the emergency one and seen it I'm going to wait until 10 weeks! At 10 weeks there should be more features as well!

Btw how many weeks/days are you now? The sonographer said was only 6+3 when I got my scan so I'm only 7+2!

owltrousers · 23/05/2017 14:35

@HannahD1991

It was pretty amazing thank you! But like, really tiring! We walked everywhere and tried to fit wayyy too much in every day. Our apartment was on the 7th floor with no lift as well - knackering! Blush

I'm 7+3 today according to my apps. Hard to tell how close that is because of my dodgy irregular cycles but I don't think its too far out.

Don't answer if you'd rather not but was yours an ordinary tummy scan? The lady on the phone said there is a chance they might want to do a transvaginal scan on me which I don't fancy so much.

So I've booked it for Saturday, when I'll be exactly 8 weeks! Exciteddd.

@owltrousers Ahhh bet you had a fab time though, just what you needed to take your mind off things :)

It was a vaginal scan! I was really worried at first because you hear stories don't you but honestly it doesn't hurt at all. I seen the thing they use at first and was like omg, but only actually about 2-3 inches goes in. If you've had a smear with the spectrum thingy that's soooo much worse! Plus you get to see baby clearer with the internal!

Ahhh I'm excited for you too! I'm dying to know what our little beans look like now! I know I only had mine a week ago but they change so much from week to week don't they! I can't wait to get a bump too haha! My friend in work is 13 weeks and she has the cutest little bump!

Report
owltrousers · 23/05/2017 15:29

@HannahD1991 Ah ok! I have had a scan like that before for to check on my PCOS but weirdly the idea of them doing it with a baby in there worries me! Like please don't dislodge him! I'm sure its fine though, just me being silly.

I'll definitely post pics on Saturday all being well. We are thinking of telling my DH's parents that evening as well so a bit excited about that.

My sisters sister in law (does that make sense?!) is pregnant and she's 11 weeks and she has a little bump, its something I'm really looking forward to! Can imagine resting my cup of tea on it now Wink

@owltrousers you said him! Do you think you'll have a boy? Grin we keep saying her! Every name we've thought of is for a girl too!

Aww that is exciting! We've told our families and I've told my manager in work, can't wait to just tell everyone. Everyone keeps planning nights out and when i suggest going for a nice meal everyone's just like nah!

A bump at 11 weeks that's so cute, I'm super excited! How's your appetite been btw are there any foods you have gone off? My mum makes a roast dinner twice a week and I use to look forward to them so much but the thought has been making me sick. Must be the gravy! And yes definitely post pics SmileSmile

@Hannahd1991 i'm not sure really! me and DH have thought of wayy more boy names that girl though.. I think we are kind of hoping for a boy but don't mind either way?

My newest feeling is that its twins Shock - twins run in my family very heavily, cousins, aunts, grandparents and my sister all twins (her twin died in the womb early on) and DH's mum also carried twins but MC.
Scary thought!
