I'm looking at the mamas and papas ocarro with carrycot and pram seat... But I'm clueless, what do you look for?

we looked at ease of folding, suspension, price, height of handles, turnability and how resilient the wheels looked. Whether you could have parent facing (not all do) and a bit of thought about space underneath

Sirzy · 01/05/2017 19:22

How will you be travelling?

If by public transport think about how easy it will be to collapse if needed. If by car then space in the car needs to be considered.

Consider if it will fit in the car - or if it's easy to get on the bus/train with. Do you want parent/world facing. How sturdy is it? If you like going on country walks will it survive. Don't get a light colour unless you enjoy cleaning it regularly. Price is a massive consideration. Have a good play with them in the shop and read the reviews. Is it nice to push and is it light. If it's heavy without a child, think about how bad it will be going uphill with a toddler in it.

Notsure1234 · 01/05/2017 20:12

Think what's important to you and go from there. What swung ours was the carrycot is approved for overnight sleeping, it fit in our car and can be converted to a double which was useful as we knows we only wanted a small age gap.

Notsure1234 · 01/05/2017 20:12

*knew

Moregilmoregirls · 01/05/2017 20:16

I wanted light weight, with a sleep approved bassinet, swivel seat so can face different ways and easy to collapse / store. We went with the orbit baby in the end and DS 2 is now using it so it was worth the £

LunaLunaDot · 01/05/2017 20:17

For me it was the wheels. Big huge ones that can be pumped up. We go off road a lot though. But it was very handy in our city too, some of the pavements are shocking.

LunaLunaDot · 01/05/2017 20:24

If I had my time again and loads of cash I'd get this one, it's beautiful.

If you want a small age gap it's worth thinking about one that converts to a tandem. We plan on a small age gap so this was important for us. Ease of fold, I wanted parent facing, something that felt solid and that looked comfy!

OnNaturesCourse · 01/05/2017 20:34

Thank you.

Our list is:
Solid wheels
Carry cot (possible one that collapses) that is sleep approved
Front/Rear facing
Tall/extension handle
Decent basket
One hand ease of turning
Compact (mini boot)
Easy to hold, none of this collapsing onto muddy ground etc

Light-weight, one-hand fold, fits in car boot.

kel1493 · 01/05/2017 20:38

I just knew I wanted silver cross.
Looking at the options when I was pregnant, we went for the pioneer because we couldn't afford or fit a balmoral in our house we preferred the big wheels and basket.

OnNaturesCourse · 01/05/2017 20:42

I love the old silver cross prams. Proper prams, they are stunning but unfortunately I can't convince DP lol x

kel - how have you found the silver cross? I've ordered but baby's not yet here so don't know how it will perform in real life!

Littlecaf · 01/05/2017 22:11

I wanted one that took a carry cot & car seat but wouldn't be too big when he got to 1 year, so was more of a pushchair. We got an Uppababy Cruz but was tempted by the Silver Cross Wayfarer or even a Graco Evo. I loved the Uppababy Vista but they are big esp. when with a toddler. Friends who have them (and the Pioneer which I also loved) have a separate stroller for their toddler.

OnNaturesCourse · 01/05/2017 22:18

Yeah, the size is a good point. I like chunky stroller types so will need to keep that in mind x

I have a silver cross wayfarer in navy. It's my pride and joy 😳 . Burst into tears when the lady said they had no navy ones to sell to me. Luckily my dad managed to work his magic and get me one. It's absoloulty gorgeous.

GastonsWife · 01/05/2017 23:09

I should say I put zero research into it. I saw it the day after I found out I was pregnant and had to have it.

OnNaturesCourse · 02/05/2017 08:46

Ha, that sounds like something I would do but then regret it. Glad you still love yours! X

One that matches your lifestyle.
For me that was parent facing, off road and comfortable to push. I went for the bugaboo buffalo.

Yayne · 02/05/2017 08:58

Fits into all cars, suitable from birth to age 2, lightweight and dead easy to collapse one handed. Also easy to maneuvre whilst still sturdy

For us, buggies like the petite star zia were great, with a buggy snuggle and lying flat they are great from the start and then they last to toddler age

AudreyBradshaw · 02/05/2017 10:51

I have a silver cross pioneer, I love it. But they are HUGE, it doesn't fold down small and you have to dismantle it every time. If you have are small boot don't get a pioneer. I got mine because I walk a lot and needed a big basket, it suits my purpose.

AudreyBradshaw · 02/05/2017 10:54

Forgot to say, I'm ordering the silver cross pop to keep in the boot of the car rather than lugging the pram everywhere.

(I also have a big vintage coach built silver cross, it's amazing!)

LittleKiwi · 02/05/2017 10:56

For us most important thing was to be able to run with it.
