Slightly scared I'm working up to early labour at only 29 weeks

Apologies for tmi parts but would like to canvas opinion: I'm expecting DC2 and am feeling really really odd. Braxton Hicks started a few weeks ago but have been very intense this week, and even more so and slightly painful the last two days. I've been having a LOT of discharge, some of which yesterday was slightly brown, though whitish again today. And I've had a good, erm, clear-out on the loo which I know can happen before labour. I also feel weird -spacey and slightly nauseous and exhausted and tearful all at the same time.
The baby is also sitting really oddly/ uncomfortably - not sure it's dropped, just I'm really noticing they're in there, iyswim, compared to a few days ago.

I know I'm probably being crazy - none of these things is odd at all in itself - and I feel mad calling the hospital. I only saw the midwife on Thursday and she was perfectly happy with everything then. The baby's still moving around fine.

I just feel... odd.

To complicate this I've never actually gone into labour before naturally - DS was induced because of gestational diabetes. So I don't know how I feel pre-labour - I've just got things I've read to go on...

If I call the hospital and say I feel weird, there's nothing they can really do, is there?

Please call the hospital and tell them what symptoms you've had over the past few days and let them know you're worried that you're in labour. Please. Do it now.

Justmadeperfectflapjacks · 30/04/2017 16:31

Never a waste of their time to ring up for reassurance. . .
Its their job to care for you!!
Phone them please.

ParticularlyPissedOff · 30/04/2017 16:33

Balls. Think I've lost my mucus plug. Phoning now.

Devilishpyjamas · 30/04/2017 16:37

Glad you are ringing.

MadisonAvenue · 30/04/2017 16:39

Hope everything is okay.

GreenHairDontCare · 30/04/2017 16:39

Everything you've said is exactly what happened to me before I went into labour with dc3.

Get yourself over to the hospital. Good luck.

iamapixiebutnotaniceone · 30/04/2017 16:39

They would rather see 10 women who turn out to be ok than not see the one that is not! Go and get checked! Xx

ParticularlyPissedOff · 30/04/2017 16:42

Midwife on the phone seemed unconcerned. Said to call back if I get more painful/ regular contractions or lose anything more than the plug. I really do feel bloody odd though.

AmpersandRea · 30/04/2017 16:43

Hope you're ok, OP.
Hopefully you're on the way to the hospital now.

GreenHairDontCare · 30/04/2017 16:44

I would go in. Just turn up and make a fuss until they examine you.

AmpersandRea · 30/04/2017 16:46

Crossposted with you.
I've just read your update. I think you should go in to be checked .... I had my twins at 26 weeks, and prem labour is quite different to a full term labour.
Better to get checked and sent home because everything's ok than sit at home fretting (& possibly in premature labour).

ExplodedCloud · 30/04/2017 16:58

Better to go in and be sent home than ignore this. Even if everything is fine then at least you can stop fretting.

User2468 · 30/04/2017 17:06

Demand to go in (or just turn up!) if you need to, there's a test they an run that predicts if you are going to go into labour in the next two weeks.

When I had DS they didn't want me to go in, I eventually demanded to come in and was 8cm dilated at first inspection. I was further on than you.

If you just turn up the worst that happens is they look at you and send you home because you're ok xx

MrsELM21 · 30/04/2017 17:12

Another one saying just turn up, you know better than anyone if you don't feel right

Bungleboggs · 30/04/2017 17:14

I had my twins at 30 weeks, you need to get yourself checked. Hope everything goes ok x

MrsJayy · 30/04/2017 17:17

Go in even if they send youhome you need to be checked out imo i went into labour twice at 28 weeks they did stop it.

MrsJayy · 30/04/2017 17:19

Say you just dont feel well which is true they have to see you.

Unicorndreamer · 30/04/2017 17:50

There is a sickness bug doing the rounds at the moment so it could be that . But if you are worried definitely go to hospital x

JOMH1982 · 30/04/2017 18:04

Please get checked out, there may be an infection risk if you've lost your plug xx

BentleyBelly · 30/04/2017 18:07

I just turned up when I thought I had less movements than normal and they assessed me, didn't mind in the slightest. Is there an assessment unit at your hospital you could visit? Mine was Princess Anne Hospital in Southampton if you happen to be near

Afreshstartplease · 30/04/2017 18:43

Hope you are getting checked op

ParticularlyPissedOff · 30/04/2017 20:06

I can't really go in as I'm on my own with DS. DH is at work until 1am - he's on standby to come home if needed but actually the Braxton Hicks seem to have calmed right down and I feel a bit better for eating something. Am keeping a close eye on things though and will call DH home and go in if anything else happens or changes. Midwife said it can be normal to lose the plug or part of it early - it just reforms- and unless accompanied by waters breaking it shouldn't carry an infection risk. Appreciate all the support and advice though- was nice to have handholding when I couldn't get hold of DH earlier!

Bungleboggs · 30/04/2017 22:05

I really hope you are ok, I lost my plug at 30 weeks and had "pains" for two days before I dragged myself to the hospital. Turned out I was 8cm dilated. But I was having twins so that might have had something to do with it. If you don't feel right please get checked x

ParticularlyPissedOff · 30/04/2017 23:04

Erk Bungle that must have been scary. Can I ask we're your pains that painful? I've got a bit of very mild period-like cramping, but nothing like actual contraction pain. Confused

Afreshstartplease · 30/04/2017 23:39

Oh op I do think you should get checked out Sad is there anyone who can watch ds when dh gets home?
