AIBU to be worried about my baby despite good news

Hi, I had a MMC and ERPC in January, baby was estimated to have died at 5 + 6. Currently 5 + 4 with a new pregnancy, which is great, but unfortunately I have been told that my HCG and progesterone levels are low considering my LMP date. Had a scare yesterday with some brown bleeding (not much but still!). My hormone levels were tested today and the good news is that hcg has trebled since Thursday and progesterone has doubled. However they are still considered low and the doctor has put me on progesterone tablets for 3 weeks. Just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience with low HCG and progesterone levels at this stage? Obviously I am really anxious given what happened last time and what's more, I am still bleeding a little (still brown). Could I still be miscarrying even though the HCG is increasing?

I am so grateful for all these replies, thank you all so much! Please keep them coming. DH is working at the moment and I'm resting as per doctors orders, but I feel a bit alone with my thoughts if you know what I mean!

Polly one day at time is the best way Ive found to cope. Also seeing that magical flickering heart beat even at 6 weeks is a huge sign things will be ok (not a total certainy but still very good odds).

I had a private scan every 2 weeks from 6-12w with my son after a mmc it helped keep me sane.

Well if I had to put my feet up I'd do everything I could to enjoy it! Watch some films, eat cake, let your DH look after you when he comes in from work. I think I ended up being a bit too brave sometimes and kept buggering on, when I finally cracked and cried all over DH he was extra lovely and even learned how to cook macaroni cheese as it's all I could stomach. You've got some lovely bits to come, one of my favourite ridiculous hormonal moments was when I was about 10 weeks and I dramatically slid down a door frame crying because my leg hurt and I felt sick Grin

Haha daisy that image has made me Grin

My failed pregnancies, my levels did not double. I did however bleed with both successful pregnancies who are now 11 and 7.

Rising levels is a good sign even if they are low. All you can do at this stage is remain positive about the info you have and take care of yourself. I hope everything goes well for you FlowersFlowers

Sleepdeprivedredhead · 29/04/2017 14:47

Flowers for you. I know pregnancy after a mc is very tough. They really drag.
Best wishes for you. It helped me to use the "today I am pregnant" mantra. It is so hard not to focus on every tiny twinge and symptom. If you can do things to put off your fears, reading, a bath, a bike ride etc.

m0therofdragons · 29/04/2017 14:55

My levels were increasing but not as much as they like. Scan at 6 weeks showed an empty sac described as a "non viable pg". 10 days later I had another scan as they were concerned it was ectopic and instead saw 1 sac with two strong hearts beating. My "non viable pg" are identical girls who are now 5yo. I bled throughout the pg and was sick a lot too. Early scans and tests aren't totally reliable but the waiting game is horrible. I hope it works out op Flowers

I became pregnant immediately after a stillbirth and at 3-5 weeks my progesterone was so low that they told me I would definitely miscarry. Within a few days of starting the pills it was well within normal range and my hcg had always been rising correctly. I stayed on it the whole pregnancy but baby was healthy. Smile

PollyCazaletWannabe · 29/04/2017 15:09

These replies are all so lovely and reassuring! Thank you all so much. I am trying really hard to stay positive and calm. I am also welcoming every pg symptom Grin. I'm like 'yay! My nipples are massive!' GrinGrin

Oh yes with the symptoms! It's probably the only situation ever where you're all, woohoo my tits hurt! Yessss I've just been a bit sick in my mouth! I've fallen asleep in my dinner, fantastic!!

PollyCazaletWannabe · 29/04/2017 15:19

Baby number 3 came after a miscarriage and I bled with her. Was absolutely hysterical as I hadn't bled with first 2 so assumed I had lost her. She's currently asleep on my lap and the most perfect little bundle Grin

I had always had extremely regular periods, to the day and each cycle lasted the same length. First 2 babies the dates were entirely accurate but this baby they moved me forward a week at 12 weeks. I asked why she couldn't just be big for her weeks and they said the 12 week scan is actually very accurate now and I must have ovulated earlier. The rest of the scans agreed with the first. I wonder if the mc messed my cycle up a bit and the same may be for you. I like to think it makes babba even more precious as technically she shouldn't have been conceived when she was (according to my normal cycles)

Only time will tell but I really hope it's good news for you and you'll be back here in a year complaining of lack of sleep or something! GrinFlowers

Take it easy and I hope in a few weeks you can feel much more relaxed. I've had a couple of miscarriages, but after my first son. With him I had some proper period like bleeding a few times in the first few months, as I'd never had a miscarriage then I took it in my stride, whereas later in life I'd have been terrified. (my son is 16 next month and nearly 6 foot by the way)

Cutesbabasmummy · 29/04/2017 18:30

I had an ivf baby and had massive bleeds at 6 and 8 weeks. We thought he was gone both times. Horrendous cramping too. Bled on and off until 14 weeks. He's now 2 and a bundle of energy. The gynaecology consultant told me if you have heavy bleeds and make it to 12 weeks the baby is a tough little thing and will pretty much hang on there. Good luck OP xx

PollyCazaletWannabe · 29/04/2017 18:45

In good news, I took my first progesterone tablet about 7 hours ago (am in China so 7 hours ahead of UK time) and since then no bleeding!Smile

That sounds like good news Polly Smile

PollyCazaletWannabe · 30/04/2017 10:08

Oh :( the bleeding has started again. Trying not to worry but it's so hard! It's a little bit but it doesn't seem to get any less - just little bits every time I wipe. Don't know whether or not to worry :(

PollyCazaletWannabe · 30/04/2017 14:53

Still bleeding and the blood is getting redder :( so scared but now I am on progesterone could this help with the bleeding? How long night it take to kick in?

OP posts:
Cutesbabasmummy · 30/04/2017 20:02

PollyCazaletWannabe I was on progesterone from the start as baby was ivf and still had big bleeds - much heavier than ordinary period. Don't lose hope but do rest and take it easy. Is it vaginal pesseries you're on? Xxx

Helbelle75 · 30/04/2017 20:08

I had a mmc and became pregnant again 2 months later. I was anxious throughout the whole pregnancy although trying to relax and take things one day at a time is good advice.
We had a private scan at 10 weeks which really helped and our dd is 2 weeks old today and fast asleep on me.
Thinking of you and hope all is ok.

RiversrunWoodville · 30/04/2017 20:27

Hoping all still well for you after this morning polly

daisygirlmac · 30/04/2017 21:17

Oh bless you Polly just wanted to say I'm thinking of you and hope all is well

PollyCazaletWannabe · 01/05/2017 10:40

Bleeding is increasing all the time but went back for another blood test and HCG has doubled again. Don't know what to think. Very stressed
