Spotting in early pregnancy - just how common is it?

Just got a positive test yesterday but have been spotting (mostly brown coloured but some red) from about 3 or 4 days past ovulation. It has died down - period was due yesterday but still getting occasional spotting mainly red now. It is only when I wipe and doesn't warrant any sanitary protection (ie very light). Test was positive yesterday.

Had something similar with first pregnancy although I think that I was a few weeks further on.

Just how common is it? Whilst I feel fairly positive about it all I will check it out with the doctor. I am also aware that it is early days and a case of 'wait and see'. I was just curious as to how common it actually is.

TIA

So sorry to hear your news pamina. My doctor had told my sister when she had a miscarriage that in such an early stage, it's probably the case that there was something wrong with the baby and this is nature's way of dealing with it. If this helps.
Where I come from they say "every obstacle has a good reason" and probably just wasn't meant to be.

Hope you are feeling ok. Will give you a call to meet up next week?

Pamina,
OK. Will give you a call in the morning before we head out, but probably around the usual time if that's ok with you.

Pamina, I was away all last week and was alerted to this v. sad news by serenequeen. I'm so sorry you lost the baby but it's good to hear that you are managing to stay positive. Love to you all and hoping for better luck next time.

Pamina3 - sorry to hear about your recent loss. I have recently gone through the same experience (my comments are below) and had my 4th miscarriage at 8 weeks.
I was having regular scans and blood tests from 4 weeks, and thought this time things would turn out well.
I have a son almost 4 and almost feel a failure of a mother when I hear mothers say "two is enough", and yet I cant seem to hold on to baby number two.
Better luck next time. xx
