Not felt any kicks today

Background:
Monday I went into assessment unit as i had been feeling kicks & movement but very few & far between, led on my left side for 2 hours but very faint movements & not the 10 the midwife wanted.
So I went in, hooked up to a monitor & he suddenly woke & and kicked loads....midwife thought it may be that he was kicking towards my back so I couldn't feel it.

Had a scan next day, all was fine.

Yesterday he was really active kicking loads & today nothing.

What do I do?? I've already been in this week & been told all is fine!

Oh, I'm 34 weeks

Glad you went in. I'very been in twice this week for reduced movement and the midwives have been lovely. They have posters up everywhere about reduced movement and getting checked out if you'require worried,
They said to me you go in every day if I needed to.

DropZoneOne · 03/03/2017 21:21

Stay, be monitored. No one will involve social services because you were concerned your baby hadn't moved enough. If anything, it shows you care about your baby.

Karmaisabitch · 03/03/2017 21:22

I try to think "it's okay" then I think of the worst case scenario & think "nope it's not worth it" & call up.

Its not "movement = fine and no movement = not fine" its whether the pattern of movements is different to what he usually does.

So even though you can or have felt slight movements today, that pattern is not the usual one which is totally and utterly worth getting checked out.

BipBippadotta · 03/03/2017 21:23

Just rtft - sorry! Glad you went in. Please stay & have them check you out thoroughly. If you've been checked out a couple of times for reduced movement they won't (or shouldn't) think of you as 'paranoid' but as someone who may need closer monitoring, as they should. I know it's awful being in hospital, but it's really worth doing. Flowers

Suzytwoshoes · 03/03/2017 21:24

Please stay and if you go home and it happens again tomorrow, you call your midwife and go back tomorrow and the day after and the day after if needs be!

Who cares if you're a paranoid mum.?! Better to be paranoid and wrong, than leave it and be right!

I think if you have a certain amount of episodes of RM and nothing is showing when you are on the monitor they look into it further anyway.

DO NOT LISTEN TO YOUR SISTER AND NEVER EVER WAIT UNTIL TOMORROW IF YOU FEEL SOMETHING ISNT RIGHT!!

Hope all is ok! Flowers

Karmaisabitch · 03/03/2017 21:28

Thank you all, woman before me has just gone in.

Fingers crossed it won't be long for me.

I've an anterior placenta so that's why sometimes I can't feel him however since 32 weeks he's been head down, same position, some days it's like he's having a genuine party & then the next it's like he's tired himself out & decided to sleep all day!

OP posts:
passthewineplz · 03/03/2017 21:28

I just feel like because I've been here for antenatal depression, that they might get SS involved when he's born because I've been in "too many times" with reduced movement

Don't worry, they won't involve SS for you going in to get baby's movements monitored.

Please don't sit at home worrying if you notice a change in baby's movements. Any change in movement can indicate that baby is unwell or in distress.

Hope you and baby are ok!

CoperCabana · 03/03/2017 21:28

Exactly - think of the worst case scenario. It isn't worth it. Just always get checked.

passthewineplz · 03/03/2017 21:31

Baby isn't probably engaged yet, so may still be moving around, which means the movements could still be being absorbed by the placenta.

Notanotherpawpatrol · 03/03/2017 21:31

No one is going to get SS involved. Im 32 weeks and have already been in 7 times for various things. That's the anti-natal depression talking, not your sensible self.

Mustbeinsane1984 · 03/03/2017 21:33

Any news OP? I hope everything is OK? Take care x

Karmaisabitch · 03/03/2017 21:44

Still waiting to be seen.

Can feel slight movements nothing that I'm used to though.

I'm sure he'll wake up properly when they turn the bloody machine on!

Is this now his pattern?? A whole day of movement and then nothing the next??

I found things have changed further along in pregnancy as banynhas for bigger and changed position. Less kicking and more squirming, moving sensations.
I can actually see the movement better than I can feel it at the moment.
As the midwives - they are lovely and very knowledgeable.

Birdsbeesandtrees · 03/03/2017 22:47

Are you still there ?

Karmaisabitch · 03/03/2017 22:51

Just been taken off the monitor, they are happy with movements and what not.
Spoke to doctor who I saw when I was admitted back when I was 27 weeks, she's advised me to come in EVERYTIME I feel worried.

Also advised I may highly likely be induced on due date for reassurance for me

Birdsbeesandtrees · 03/03/2017 22:54

I'm glad everything's ok and that you've had some advice about what to do in future !

Go home and put your feet up/ go to bed.

Starlight2345 · 03/03/2017 22:56

You will sleep much better tonight..Take the advice and go in when you are concerned..Glad all is well.

Karmaisabitch · 03/03/2017 22:57

I'm so glad she said it, now I don't feel so silly!

Midwife was just as lovely &! She works on the delivery suite usually so hopefully il have either her or a woman my mum lives near who works here

So glad you stayed and saw the doc, whenever your sis tells you not to worry in future you can tell her that until she has a medical degree you are going to listen to the doc Smile

I went in twice in the early evening for reduced movements in the afternoon and DS seemed to wait until it was our turn to be put on the monitor and then started doing somersaults which was very embarrassing.

I was actually induced early in the end for reduced movements and doc said afterwards it was done for precautionary reasons but turned out to be clear during CS it was vital we didn't wait. So I'm so, so glad I checked every single time.

Mammysboys · 03/03/2017 23:14

So glad everything is OK, op. You were right to go in and get checked. With both of mine, the placenta was anterior and they kicked loads. The second more than the first, of course.

Karmaisabitch · 04/03/2017 00:39

I'm glad I went in too, although I didn't actually feel many of the movements & he was clearly sleeping!

Doc has put in my notes that I can have daily monitoring for reassurance.

I said I felt silly because of having an anterior placenta but she said that, that doesn't stand anymore because if I'm feeling loads of movement say on a Monday but not much on Tuesday, that isn't because of the placenta as I'd still feel it, so she said I did the right thing by going in.

OP posts:
Karmaisabitch · 04/03/2017 00:40

I'm seeing my midwife on Monday & then an obstetrician on the 16th so we can discuss more then as the doc today said they won't let me go past my due date which is less than 6 weeks away now.

So fingers crossed il have more of a plan just after my birthday.

OP posts:
IckyPop · 04/03/2017 00:53

I'm so glad you went in and everything is fine. You should absolutely go in if movements change or reduce. And I would urge you to have the daily monitoring if you can.

I'm sure all will be well (esp as you're going to be monitored and induced) but I know from experience that things can go wrong. Always listen to your instinct and if you're not sure err on the side of caution.

Go well OP. Wishing you and your baby all the very best. Flowers

Karmaisabitch · 04/03/2017 06:34

Thank you all!

Hugely appreciate it, when I got home he decided he was going to have a very long party! Took me nearly 2 hours to fall asleep.

I'm up again now & he's moving again!

Any time I feel worried or need reassurance, I will go in.
