I was told not to pick up anything heavier than my baby, so used a sling after both my c/s. had no problems at all.

Ceolas · 15/02/2007 16:27

What's the suspension like?

misdee · 15/02/2007 16:32

i have one

its faboulous and i use it daily. mine was ex-display so save 1/3rd on the price. its very light to steer, easy to fold, easy to switch seat positions, etc etc.

my only problem is that dd3 has a long body and i cant see her being in it still after the sum mer(hopefully by then she will be walking everywhere anyway).

I think i will be selling it after sept, unless i persude dh that we will have another baby then i will keep it (and i never keep prams lol)

Ceolas · 15/02/2007 16:35

It looks quite low down, in comparison to a lot of 'traditional' style prams (eg. Silver Cross Sleepover). Is it?

I think I'm going to go and test drive one in Mothercare

misdee · 15/02/2007 16:36

the seat unit is actually quite high, havent used the carry cot though. my sister loves mine and has got herself one after i refused to sell mine to her at the price i paid (i can get more on ebay lol)

Ceolas · 15/02/2007 16:37

And is there much difference between the gecko and the cameleon?

misdee · 15/02/2007 16:40

big difference in size.

kittypower · 15/02/2007 16:47

misdee · 15/02/2007 16:56

cameleon is bigger and is around £130 more i think gecko is £469 in jl, cam is £599

Ceolas · 15/02/2007 16:56

I think the gecko is the smaller (it's cheaper!)

ScottishMummy · 15/02/2007 17:34

Bugaboo website is really useful

I don't think they are Chavvy, But yes they have a certain snobbery attached to them. I just bought one and I love it though.

ScottishMummy · 15/02/2007 18:38

baby world shop member 5% discount scheme - discount can be used for any products i use on regular basis

time4tea · 15/02/2007 19:36

if you are planning for more than one, I'd also consider a Phil and Ted's E3, which can convert to a double-decker for newborn & toddler and two toddlers. I've just got one for birth of second, DS (2) loves it and a few friends who have them swear by them. Very natty-looking, and suitable from birth, able to steer easily and bouncy wheels like a Bugaboo. not sure how it compares with Bugaboos for folding/stashing in car boot though. But might be worth checking out.

ebenezer · 15/02/2007 21:05

Chav city round here - can't move for them! And isn't it what they all have in Hello and OK? Mind you having seen the price someone quoted on earlier post, i expect they have to do the photoshoot to afford the pram

NiceShoes · 16/02/2007 09:22

Chavvy

i thought chavvy was a stereotype applied to people who are supposedly poor. Bugaboo is a pretty expensive pram, so how is it chavvy??

i wonder whether people who get all humphy and cheeky about bugaboo and call them "chavvy" are maybe not a little bitty jealous because they do not have one, so instead they have a go at the pram

so now i await the indignant responses and denials...but i think there is a teeny weeny jealousy of some one else's gorgeous, expensive pram

pooka · 16/02/2007 09:31

I absoulely love mine. Has brilliant wheeled board attachment and because of the extendable handlebar (cameleon) it's a breeze pushing ds with dd on the board (which is big enough for her to sit if she fancies).
If I could go back to when dd was born, I wouldn't have bought the numerous prams/pushchairs I had before I got the bugaboo. But then I don't really take it on buses very often - only the odd train journey and around LOndon. Also have quite a large boot.
Don't think they look bad. I rather like mine. And to be honest, the only thing that initially put me off buying one was the "chavvy" label which to be frank I really don't understand.

Hulan · 16/02/2007 10:07

Try Quinny, it's brilliant also and looks very different.

Cocobear · 16/02/2007 10:18

I once had to review dozens of pushchairs for a magazine, and I can tell you that if you've spent much over 200 pounds (and that's for a travel system), it's technically not worth the money. For a from-birth buggy, it's hard to see why you'd spend over 150 on a strict value-for-money basis. Frankly, it doesn't matter if a Bugaboo still works with child number two, as you could clearly buy a second or even a third Maclaren (or M&P or Hauck or Graco) and still have spent less.

But value for money is not the only reason to choose a pushchair. So if you like the Bugaboo best and can afford it, then go for it. They're very nice pushchairs.

Nicki10 · 16/02/2007 10:25

I defineatly want the cameleon, at first it was because I loved the way you could customise them as Orange is my favourtie colour! But actually when I was lookig at other prams like the Buzz and other travel systems I found it was the only one that's handle went down low enough for me. I'm only 4 foot 10!. I also found it really easy and light to push around and very easy to bump up and down stairs at the train station.

BabyMadwithBump · 16/02/2007 10:39

I went to town on Tuesday and they were everywhere everyone seems to have one, also went to Birmingham last weekend and again EVERYWHERE! My friend priced one up a few months back £1,200,00 I DONT think so!

bogie · 16/02/2007 11:18

There not £1200?!? i olove mine and what makes me laugh about this thread is that the people that have them love them the people who don't have them slag them off ??? best thing i have ever bought inho

BabyMadwithBump · 16/02/2007 11:31

We priced one up on 2leftfeet she wanted more your less everyting and it came to 1,200 "no word of a lie!!"
