NC but long time lurker and occasional poster.

I've been awake for an hour feeling sick. I'll be 8 weeks on Monday and have had sickness all day every day for five days. No actual vomiting luckily.

I'm aware I might be in for weeks and weeks of this so really this is just a moan and perhaps optimistically am hoping for some stories where sickness only lasted a couple of weeks! Thanks all.

10 weeks, 6-16 weeks. Then I felt fantastic! (I also had easy births and easy babies, so a small price to pay!)

NotNob · 08/10/2016 06:27

14 weeks for both. Flowers

sandgrown · 08/10/2016 06:27

I did not really feel sick but felt very very hungry for about the first three months then the feeling disappeared.

MoonDuke · 08/10/2016 06:27

9 months. Both times.

But I don't know anyone else as bad.

LadyPenelope3 · 08/10/2016 06:32

Oh gosh MoonDuke I don't know how you coped! This has felt like the longest week of my life. I'm very grateful to be pregnant though.

Also any tips on managing it? Snacking seems to help but only for a few minutes.

I'll be 11 weeks tomorrow and this has been me since 6 weeks. It's been getting a bit better this week, not lasting all day and some days are better than others, plus my appetite is slowly coming back. Hurrah!
Eating little and often has been all I can do to get through it. Good luck!

MrsChrisPratt · 08/10/2016 07:40

Mint flavoured boiled sweets really help me - foxes glacier mints, humbugs, Everton mints

Hope you feel better soon Flowers

charlybs · 08/10/2016 07:43

I promise as soon as it's over you'll forget how bad it was! I'm 18 weeks now and mine stopped at 11 weeks. I was also nauseous all the time so you have my sympathy.

It does massively vary but fingers crossed when you enter 2nd trimester for quite a few it eases off xxx

Ankleswingers · 08/10/2016 07:49

I second what MrsChrisPratt says..I lived on mint flavoured boiled sweets. Also ginger biscuits and not actually letting yourself get hungry, as although the sickness makes eating the last thing you want to do, it actually really doesn't help at all. Little and often.

I found weeks 8-10 the worst sickness wise, but with both of mine, I felt ill until around 18 weeks.

Hope you feel better soon Flowers

bringmelaughter · 08/10/2016 07:50

Sorry eighteen weeks here with both pregnancies. On the plus side it literally disappeared overnight and I felt amazing once it did for the rest of both pregnancies. Only cheese and onion square crisps got me through it.

MyBreadIsEggy · 08/10/2016 07:51

I had hyperemesis with my first pregnancy - started vomiting pretty much from the very instant the sperm touched the egg and didn't stop until Dd was born Sad was hospitalisedfour times during pregnancy because of it.
I was expecting the same with this pregnancy, but I only actually threw up a few times, I just felt sick until about 14 weeks, and then I've been fine ever since Grin much better!!

ALongTimeComing · 08/10/2016 07:51

40 weeks.

Tips: drips and lots of drugs

GizmoFrisby · 08/10/2016 07:52

9 months both times. Even threw up whilst in labour. Was hospitalised both times with hyperemesis gravardrium. With my second I lost 2 stone in the first 8 weeks. It's horrible. Hope u feel better soon Flowers

Meowlster · 08/10/2016 07:55

I agree with PPs, every pregnancy is different... first one I started to stop being sick so much at about 14 weeks, then had a mmc (still was sick though), then next pregnancy I ended up on a drop and with drugs at 33 weeks...in hindsight I should have got help sooner. If it's really unbearable, talk frankly about how bad it is.
Good luck, and congratulations!

SharkBastard · 08/10/2016 07:59

I'm 11+6 and have been sick every day since 6 +6. I have found that it has lessened during the day this last week, but mornings and evenings are write off. I puke in the morning then heave and have to rock from 4:30 till 10pm

This is the worst

potentialqualms · 08/10/2016 08:10

This is the sort of question you really shouldn't ask, but as you did....

I was sick for 5 moths with DS1 and every single day of the pregnancy with DS2, I was even sick just after I delivered him!

What I can say is you kind of get used to it. It becomes one of those things you just do everyday. Get up, be sick, go to the loo, brush you teeth. Also during the day. Just like sometimes during whatever you're doing you need to go to the loo, sometimes you need to go and be sick. It's just something to get over with and then get on with your day.

Cakescakescakes · 08/10/2016 08:15

14 weeks and 22 weeks. Salty crunchy dry food helped me. So crackers, salt and vinegar crisps, breadsticks. Also eat little and often. Being hungry makes it worse. And keep biscuits in your bedside table and eat s couole before you get up inthe morning. Sipping a fizzy drink helped me too.

divadee · 08/10/2016 08:16

24 weeks on Monday and still got nausea and sickness. On medication which helps but if I forget to take it or take it late I know about it. With my first was all done by 11 weeks.

LadyPenelope3 · 08/10/2016 09:35

I feel awful for moaning now with how badly some of you have had it! Flowers to you all. I now feel grateful as realise it could be a lot worse.

Titchypanda · 08/10/2016 09:50

I'm 25w and still have it. Thankfully not vomiting much but constant nausea which makes eating/drinking difficult. Everyone is different though. I'm the first one in family to suffer it, the others all luckily didn't get it!

Try and keep your fluids up and plain toast/rice were about all I could keep in during 1st trimester.

Hope you're feeling better soon xx

ALongTimeComing · 08/10/2016 11:15

I would agree with potential once I had the right drug regime I was able to almost schedule my puking. You just kind of build your day around it.

Get up & puke
Shower and brush teeth
Force down some food
Puke
Drive to work
Puke....etc

happylass · 08/10/2016 11:30

It eased off significantly at around 15 weeks and had almost disappeared by 20ish weeks. I'm 28 weeks now and still get it very occasionally and now the heartburn and indigestion has kicked in too

charlybs · 08/10/2016 12:28

I know it might seem tricky but if you can try and focus on the positives! I found I was dragging myself down sometimes (especially when I felt sick) and really I want to look back on my pregnancy with as many happy memories as possible! It might help your overall head space xxx
