I'm coming near to the end of my pregnancy and got most things. Just wondering what is the most gentle baby wash for bath time? All I want is something as simple and non-irritating as possible, but would be interested in organic stuff too if not expensive? Thank you.

Nicky it's just the talcum powder that's linked to ovarian cancer as there's evidence there could have been asbestos fibres in the talc historically.

DD is bathed nightly using J&J, which is what they used in the NICU when they taught us how to bathe her. Never had any skin problems and don't use talc/oil etc. after washing.

DS is 20 months and still use nothing. Plain water irritates his skin, so nothing is better for him then a product.

I've used j&j, asda little angels, simple, Morrison's own. Basically whatever people had bought us. Ds has never had dry skin or a sore bum so far. He has a bath near on every night since about 3 weeks because he absolutely loves the water.

Id say the rule of thumb regarding baby products and what to use on their precious skin would be if you are not prepared to injest it yourself, dont use it.
A babies skin is 6 times more absorbent than that of an adults, anything you put on it will enter the blood stream. Being conscious of this would you knowingly allow all those chemicals that are put in as cheap fillers into products like, but not exclusively, johnson and johnsons onto your babies skin? The reason these products are so cheap is because they are a derivative of gasoline, it is no wonder so many babies get skin complaints after using them.
Spend a couple of pounds more for some natural organic products, they smell nice too....

Nothing.

Still only use Dr Bronners on my 2 year old if there's actual dirt on him. Water is fine.
