feel so ill :( don't know what to eat

Please any advice!! I am 7 weeks and feeling dreadful- had nothing like this with ds1.
I just feel so nauseous from the minute I open my eyes to the time I go to bed.
I absolutely have to eat every 2 hours, or I start to feel even worse, yet my digestive system has slowed down to the point where food just sits like a lump of concrete in my stomach Sad.
Nothing is appealing apart from fizzy drinks, which seem to take the edge off things.

I'm struggling to sleep if I eat after 6pm at the latest, because I feel so hideously full. I am SO constipated too.

Any advice on how to feel better would be so gratefully received!!

I had a super slow digestive system in the first trimester and felt awful. Two glasses of Fybogel a day was the only thing which provided any relief in the end. Digestive biscuits are good for settling nausea as well.

Ok brill, is fybogel an over the counter thing? Does it just keep everything moving '?

I've become obsessed with dairylea triangles, no idea if it's just a thing I fancy but I bloody love them.

Digestives are plain and good too.

I feel your pain. I don't fancy anything. I'm drinking ginger beer. I had half a tin of soup for t last night. I used to love chocolate, now the thought of it turns my stomach

Marmalade on toast was the only thing that kept me going from weeks 5-13. Good luck! And congratulations!

How funny, dairylea is definitely one of the few things I could face too! Same with my last pregnancy too, I had a thing for plain, nursery type meals- white bread and dairylea with spaghetti hoops or Heinz ravioli Blush

Fizzy water helped.
Ice lollies.

Tiny amounts of pureed vegetables with about tablespoonful of boiled rice.

Tiny amounts of pureed fruit.

No meat at all - just couldn't digest it.

Clear soup and, very occasionally, a few chips.

I couldn't even look at an iron tablet or folic acid without throwing up. I was still being sick at 38 weeks. Sad

I got through it in the end, but tiredness makes it 100 times worse.

Oh - and glycerine suppositories for the constipation.
Lactulose in a glass of sparkling water sipped very slowly when i could tolerate it.

God - I feel ill just thinking about it and mine are all grown up now.

Opal I get the plain nursery food, I had a tin on Heinz beans and sausage the other day for tea!

Ice lollies are good.

Dare I say it I've developed an absolute love of the maccys 99p cheeseburger. It's the only meat I can really tolerate.

Mash potato is another fave, mixed with peas and gravy.

Plain food (toast, pasta, rich tea biscuits) at regular intervals is the only thing that's helping me. It is miserable though. If it gets too much, go and see your GP as they may prescribe something to help. I also took a few days off work when I was at my worst and just lay down all day, which seemed to help me get on top of it a bit.

My midwife suggested salt and vinegar crisps! For 8 months that's pretty much all I could keep down. Oddly enough they're now my dd's favourite flavour. I on the other hand can't bear them!

Otherwise just bland food - cream crackers, noodles. And yes to fizzy drinks, for me it was Coca Cola, I had gallons of the stuff. It's really important not to get dehydrated and I couldn't keep anything else down. Haven't touched a glass since.

Good luck!

Yes Fybogel can be bought without prescription and is considered safe for pregnancy. I always got mine from the supermarket medicine section! It's basically fibre powder which you mix with water. Tastes like orange cordial and definitely gets things moving. If I missed drinking it I definitely felt worse that day. Don't know how I'd have got through without it!

Have you tried peppermints? Can help with nausea and with feeling full. I took to buying multi packs of them in my last pregnancy.

If you can face macdonalds then eat it. It really is better to get some calories that way than not at all. In my first pregnancy I used to stagger off the bus taking me to a seminar (I was a student) and dive in to macdonalds for a coke and a doughnut to take the edge off the nausea!

It varies for me depending on what stage I was at. When I was the same as you I only fancied plain salty stuff. Cheap white toast with butter and sometimes marmite. Cheap packets of noodles with Maggie sauce on as didn't fancy the curry or chicken flavour. Crumpets. I went off just about every drink bar water but rediscovered oxo cubes crumbled into hot water, which I sometimes fancied instead of tea. I also had to eat every 2 hours. Really went off veg, which I normally love. Couldn't cook most of the time as it made me feel sick but could eat small amounts of a normal dinner if someone else cooked for me . Oh and I had a craving for cheese toasted sarnies for a while. I could manage anything potato. So basically carbs and salt! WinkGrin

If you are in a biggish city then you can get some nice fresh noodle soups from places like itsu.
