I mean - 40 freakin weeks! I'm only 19+4 today and im already dying of bordem with being pregnant! I spent the first 3 months throwing up, and the last two with exhaustion so extreme its been hard to muster the energy to get up and go pee. And where's my 'pregnancy glow' at, mmmmmm? Anything i say or do gets blamed on my damn hormones now, apparently pregnant woman aren't allowed to have real feelings anymore, it's all down to hormones you know. And i spent most of xmas and new years being told i was fat by drunk relatives.
I've given up smoking, drinking, and eat better now and take vitamins for bean, and im trully tired of being pregnant at the mo. Have my 20 week scan on the 8th which im sure i'll love, but what then? Here - get fatter, have some swollen ankles, or how about a pair of leakin tits, could i interest you in a bladder you can no longer control? I mean, all this is yet to come. How in gods name do people last 40 weeks! I know i should be enjoying it, but truthfully, how do you?

TrinityRhino · 06/01/2007 11:27

16 months arrrrrrrrrrrrgh alread nearly done nine but sheeesh COULD NOT DO 16

ProfYaffle · 06/01/2007 11:31

Good Lord, yes, it's interminable! And babies are the wrong shape, why aren't they long and thin? Although that would make transverse babies a problem wouldn't it?

paulaplumpbottom · 06/01/2007 11:54

Whats awful is how everyone is probably telling you how quickly its passing.

Uki · 06/01/2007 11:55

Lwatkins, you sound healthy with no serious probs for you and babe, so moan away but you probably have alot to be thankful for.

I think you need to put it into perspective. You've come along way already

TrinityRhino · 06/01/2007 11:58

oh goid yes, I have exactly 4 weeks to go to my due date and EVERYONE (cept dh, cause he's not that stupid lol) keeps saying oh no time at all left now grrrrrrr

doesn't feel like that when I have trouble getting off the sofa, sleeping AT ALL, breathjing, climbing the stairs without extra oxygen, trying to control my dd2, eating anymore than a small bowl of something at a time even though I'm ravenous, trying to get roid of the terminable heartburn grrrr I could go on

feel a bit better now

paulaplumpbottom · 06/01/2007 12:00

Just tell them all to go to hell. You are pregnant you can get away with it.

DaisyMOO · 06/01/2007 12:21

I always think that being pregnant is like getting excited about Christmas in March - time seems to go sooo slowly. I always treat as a time when I can expect to be pampered and looked after a bit by friends and relatives and have a great excuse for shopping

MKG · 06/01/2007 12:58

Lwatkins, don't worry. Once you have your scan and get to 20 weeks you're outlook will change. Mine changed from "I hate being pregnant" to "Holy crap, the baby has to come out . . . .uh no I'll stay pregnant forever".

Boobooroastingonanopenfire · 06/01/2007 14:16

Lwatkins, IME the people who say 'but it's the most natural thing in the world' and 'you're not ill' are usually men.

My Grandma's gay 76 year old boyfriend (don't ask) told me I was 'making a fuss' when I asked DH to help me get off the sofa at Christmas. I was 30 weeks pregnant.

He got a bit of a 'hormonal' earful, I'm afraid!

Frenchsmallfry · 06/01/2007 15:27

Lwatkins I can sympathise with you. I'm another who finds the whole 40 week thing very long and boring. I'm 21+1 weeks, It's even worse for me now as I'm in France and a pg'cy is 41 weeks here! 1 more week to think about. Grrrrr!

As UKI says, we should probably put it in perspective and I'm sure you are not as I am not being disrespectful to those that would love to be in our position. For some reason or another are not able to get there. I haven't forgotten about all the suffering that is happening everywhere when it comes to conceiveing, miscarrige, troubled pg'cy, and all the other awful things that can happen, but we all have to live our own lives too, For those that breeze through pg'cy they are very, very lucky Yes, but it is boring so you moan away.

Harry2007 · 06/01/2007 15:49

I've found that on the whole, my pregnancy has gone quite quickly other than the last few weeks - due to health problems I won't bore you with now.

But, I do have particular weeks stuck in my mind that seemed to last forever.

Weeks 7, 18 , 27 and 31 for some strange reason were neverending! I know it sounds insane, it's not as if I was waiting for a scan or anything in these weeks - waiting for something you're looking forward to often seems to be drawn out IYKWIM!

There is a part of me though that wishes I was one of these women who had no knowledge of their pregnancy until the baby popped out!

LadyTophamHatt · 06/01/2007 15:56

Trinity, you should think yourself lucky then because my DH has been saying "Ohh it won't be long now" for weeks.

I have 3 days until my due date....that fcking ages* in a pregnant womans world but to the rest of the human race it's bugger all.

Wankers.

TrinityRhino · 06/01/2007 15:58

heartily agree wiht you lady

lots of sympathy too

Harry2007 · 06/01/2007 16:03

Agree with you too LTH.

Every day since Christmas day seems to have lasted a lifetime. I know that part of it is because I'm seeing my Consultant on Monday to book a date for a CS - will probably be later on next week or early the week after. Being immobile has got a lot to do with it but I wholeheartedly agree that a day in pregnant woman's terms is about 10 times as long.

wilkie50 · 06/01/2007 16:07

Ha ha - LTH you make me LOL. I think I have joined your 'EVERYTHING IS F*CKING CRAP' Club, mardy as my arse today. Pregnancy is too long by far!!!

My best friend's sis found out she was pg at 31 weeks and popped at 38 weeks - now THAT is a pregnancy!!

Harry2007 · 06/01/2007 16:23

Wilkie - I knew, or rather heard of someone like you bf's sister. This girl was only 17, went jogging every day, no pregnancy symptoms etc etc, Anyway, couldn't get her jeans on one day and blamed her mother for shrinking them, mother thought it was strange for her skinny daughter to be putting on weight and took her for a routine check to the doctor. Doctor told her she was pregnant and sent her to ante-natal clinic that very morning. Baby was delivered that afternoon!

If I didn't know the person who told me extremely well and have seen the aforementioned girl and baby for myself, I wouldn't have belieived it! Must have been a shock to the system though - I can't imagine not knowing I was pregnant for the whole 9 months - I knew at 5 weeks!

Piffle · 06/01/2007 16:25

Ive reached the " how come I need to piss 7 x after 10pm" part at 30 wks
Also the back pain, simply reaching for a goddamn slice of bread puts me into spasm.
Oh of course now there is heartburn as well, just as I am getting used to the insomnia pregnancy brings, it is now painful, along with cramps and aching bones.
and whoever said once you get past 20 wks it'll fly by
that's the biggest pile of horses arse I've heard.
AS do said only 10 wks to go in his eternally optimistic blokey non comprehending way
TEN WEEKS - only TEN WEEKS

I truly cannot wait for this baby, I long for 2 hrs of sleep strung together

ShowOfHands · 06/01/2007 16:34

When I was an undergraduate one of the other students didn't come to a couple of seminars in a row. Saw her in town a few days later and she had a newborn baby. She had no idea she was pregnant- and she didn't look it either, nobody knew. She thought she had an appendicitis, went to the doctors and gave birth 4hrs later. And she went on to get a first class degree, was one of the brightest people I have ever met.

I don't think I'd want to be surprised quite that much, but about 25weeks would be the optimum I reckon.

wilkie50 · 06/01/2007 16:34

Harry2007 - I know what you mean - I knew from 5 weeks and can't imagine how she got to 31 without knowing. She had periods throughout and isn't very big - I would never have been able to tell she was pregnant. Strange though, as soon as she found out, she started showing immediately!

Piffle - I have to say that weeks 30-36 went relatively quick and then have slowed rght down again for me now.

I would love to be one of these women that 'bloom'!!!! Blooming fat is what I am

Piffle · 06/01/2007 16:36

Crazy I had appendicitis at 21 wks pregnant this time (well that got rid of 3 wks post op quite quickly I guess)
And giving birth was a walk in the park (this is my 3rd pregnancy) compared to appendicitis pain.
Humpf

wilkie50 · 06/01/2007 16:38

Piffle - OMG, do they operate when you are pg then?? How scary!!

Piffle · 06/01/2007 16:56

Rock and hard place choice Wilkie
Appendicitis will kill you if you do not have it out.
Was 25% risk of miscarriage as well
Thankfully baby seems fine, but am so worried about the effect of drugs etc

Indith · 06/01/2007 16:58

Frenchmallfry!

I heard it was 41 weeks in France? Just wondering do they measure from the same point? And why? (also wondering if I can get away with believing this one is currently running 2 days late not 1 week 2 days since it was conceived in Bordeaux....yup pg brain likes that idea!)

wilkie50 · 06/01/2007 16:59

Oh Piffle how scary. I am sure everything will be fine but what a horrible thing to have to go through.

Right, decision made, will stop moaning! (until tomorrow at least )
