Now as much as I'm looking forward to meeting my little one and can't wait for the first cuddles, I wish I knew everything about being pregnant. Being my first pregnancy I read most books and took various advice but there's some things no one told me and I wish I knew. I'm a week away till due date but thought I should share this and please feel free to add on as everyone's pregnancy is different.

Morning sickness - God knows why it's called morning as it happens anytime day or night.

Unwanted hairs- hair grows course and shows up various places never grown before and no matter how much you shave come 20 weeks you tend to give up - well I did!

Sleep deprivation- come 36 weeks my days have become nights and nights have become days. Can't sleep anymore even when you try go bed early - it's so frustrating.

Baby kicks- as much as it's lovely and the re- assurance that your baby is happy in there - come 36 weeks - it's no longer kicks - baby foes throw proper punches and it r&£#*in hurts

Sore gums- doesn't matter how good your hygiene is I suffered terrible guns inflammation which is so painful and there's no cure apart from brushing your teeth very frequently

Bump- not every bump takes a nice touch shape it depends how you're carrying your baby so don't be disheartened why some peoples bump are bigger than yours or more round - I only started wearing maternity clothing( at 32 weeks( and I'm average size with so far normal size baby growing inside according to growth scan)

Hugely swollen legs with p1, total aversion to Marmite and my straight hair turning curly with p2.
And afterwards, don't forget pelvic floor exercises. SOO important, especially 30 years later!

notenidskitchen · 25/11/2015 18:57

Hunger at all times. Waking up hungry. Going to be hungry. Hungry all the time!

TwllBach · 25/11/2015 19:49

Skin tags down there

The constant fucking tiredness.

Just the tiredness.

Also... the tiredness.

magnificatAnimaMea · 25/11/2015 20:39

the sheer impossiblity of containing all that boob in one bra cup, leading to armpit wodge that stops all tops from fitting, the instant you get pregnant.

I went from 34AA hardly-ever-wear-a-bra to rock-hard insanely sensitive 34F in a few days and not a single jacket could be done up.

applesvpears · 26/11/2015 09:10

The fact you cannot kiss your cat anymore.
The not wanting to tell people the names you like.
Tiredness, erratic emotions, spotty skin, bloated face, feeling obese.

That aside I love being pregnant, especially now she is moving.

Oh and how much harder it is working out, out of breath so easily, paranoia the baby is being jiggled around, ensuring you breath properly, drink loads, gym clothes look ridiculous.

CalypsoLilt · 26/11/2015 09:30

Why can't I kiss my cat?!

LouLou030783 · 26/11/2015 09:54

The fact u may feel like u have a hangover every single day! And when u have a bit of hope that things are getting better bang it hits u 10x worse

MrsBalustradeLanyard · 26/11/2015 10:05

That you magically forget all of the above crap and want to do it again Grin

SunnyDays1987 · 26/11/2015 10:18

Hahaha mrsB so true. Why do we do it to ourselves?!

EdgarAllenPoe · 26/11/2015 10:19

Going on iron pills. I was a regular blood donor before giving blood so well versed in what to eat to increase my iron count and I have still ended up on them.

Astonishing black poos from aforementioned iron pills.

OhBigHairyBollocks · 26/11/2015 18:45

The exhaustion
The SPD from 8 weeks
The exhaustion
Sleeping whenever I am Sat down
Restless legs syndrome
The SPD and the hideous, all encompassing pain that comes with it. And the humiliation of using crutches to walk.
Maternity clothes can indeed be outgrown!
Parenting your toddler becomes so much harder, and the worry that they will hate you when you bring the next child in to their lives (and the snotty meltdown that comes on realisation of this)

Five and a half fucking weeks left. Never. Ever. Doing. This. Again.

anneliandbetsy · 26/11/2015 20:08

Fanny daggers, feeling like someone's kicking the shit out of you from the inside, sciatica, wanting to eat sponges, huge spots, greasy hair, shit clothes, fat feet, fat tits, the impending doom of a ripped vag, eating that much it's actually embarrassing.
But.....all bloody worth it :)

PlummyBrummy · 26/11/2015 22:17

The clay poos! So humiliating to admit to DH that I'd killed the toilet. Again.

Greengagesandham · 27/11/2015 06:30

Why can't I kiss my cat?! I'm sure you can still kiss you cat, just not your cats bottom! Cat poo has something (a parasite?) that can cause toxoplasmosis. I thought you were just meant to avoid changing the litter tray? With my last 2 pregnancies I still picked up cat poo from the garden so the older DCs could play without stepping in it, I just used a nappy sack to pick it up.

The advice has probably gone OTT and now you need to avoid cats altogether!

Nishky · 27/11/2015 06:43

Headaches-oh yes paracetamol really helps a migraine -I still remember the entire day in bed, in a darkened room, weeping and my daughter is 14 next month

GunShotResidue · 27/11/2015 07:44

Pins and needles in my hands. Didn't have them with DD, but now if my hands aren't actually on the mattress during the night I wake up with pins and needles.

I haven't had much sickness, just lots of food aversion. I don't feel like eating anything. Except occasionally mashed potato.

cloudjumper · 27/11/2015 09:17

That at one point, you start saying 'Ouffff!' every time you sit down/get up. And that walking up the stairs becomes an Olympic exercise.

That I would have to go to the GP for drugs to relieve the constipation, as nothing else touches it (plummy I have had lots of near misses killing the toilet at work Blush).

I'm still kissing my cats! But DH cleans the litter tray Grin

Would I do it all again? Hell, yes!

applesvpears · 27/11/2015 23:49

I confess I still kiss my cat..! I just don't tell the OH, he says they clean their bottom with their mouth so by kissing it I am getting the germs. It's just a little kiss Blush

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Got it both times and it persisted for a couple of months post-birth. How can that be related to being pregnant? Still don't understand, it seems so random. And annoying!

Constant sweaty crotch (sorry!). I could smell myself constantly, which with the enhance sense of smell was Not Nice.

The Narcolepsy. Seriously, I fell asleep whenever I sat down for longer than ten seconds. I even fell asleep standing up once. My youngest is almost 3.5 and this still happens to me.

AmyLouKin · 28/11/2015 17:52

Being tired all the time.
The indigestion and heartburn ( which made me throw up more than the morning sickness but is a little more under control for the mo!).
The awful constipation (which makes the indigestion worse)!
Not being able to bend over, I keep forgetting and it hurts!
Waddling!
However, only 28 weeks so I'm thinking the worst is to come! 😉

Stylingwax · 28/11/2015 18:00

Feeling sick for the first six months
And too full of child to eat for the last three
Weird smelling wee
Bloodhound nose (see above)
Unbelievably irrational mood swings

Whoknewitcouldbeso · 28/11/2015 18:09

Ha ha you lot are terrifying me!! I'm 30 weeks and still feel ok.

With DS I developed a urethral cyst that bled for about two weeks. No pain though thankfully. Not sure if that was pregnancy related but I never had one before or since. I also had chronic heartburn with DS but not much this time. With DS my rib pain would see me having to pull the car over and crawl out but this time I haven't had any!!

I'm just waiting for a terrible symptom now lol that will bug me for the next 10 weeks 🙊

Flossiesmummy · 28/11/2015 19:02

Baby brain. With my first, I laughed when people mentioned it. I was all "don't be silly, I'm an intelligent woman. There's no such thing!"

Until I put meat in the cupboard and cereal in the fridge.
Until I couldn't lock the door, finally realising I was turning the key the wrong way.
Until I forgot my husband of five years name.
Until I walked home from the shops, forgetting I had driven.

Frank85 · 02/12/2015 19:42
