To trim/shave/wax the noo noo

Thoughts on looking pretty down below for birth? I normally keep myself tidy, but I can't see my fanny anymore and to be honest I don't think I can be arsed doing anything more than a clipper job :/ .

It really doesn't matter, no one will care. I usually make sure I'm tidy but stopped when I was about 30 weeks or so as it was too much effort.

Maybe some posters are confusing midwifery with veterinary practice.

The moomoo has a noo noo, that has long matted hair they have to rummage through before giving birth.

Jeepers creepers people! I'm not saying that's her official line, it was a funny conversation over dinner with the girls! If I'd said that she hates it when people come into labour ward with smelly dreadlocked pubes, would you take it literally?? Lighten up before we all drown in pregnancy hormones!!

I do however stand corrected on the shaving before stitches, it's apparently only when they have to do an emergency section. My mistake! (Goes off to seriously think about engaging brain before opening gob)....

Interesting that she didn't know about not needing to be shaved for stitches, though. Maybe she needs to brush up on her skills as well has her professionalism........

My BF is my midwife as she said as long as its tidy not to worry about pube styles! She did say however, it's pretty grim when someone comes in with really long matted moist pubes which they have to rummage through to see what they need to. Plus, if they need stitches, it's not very nice for the mum to have to have her bush shaved with a cheap single blade hospital razor!! Bleurghh!!
Do you seriously expect that anyone is going to believe that?
That you, as an intimate waxer, have a midwife friend who thinks it matters to be "tidy", who finds some women's pubes "grim", and would shave a woman before doing stitches?

I keep myself trimmed, actually dh does it for me.

Just neat and short, for me as I prefer it and when not preg I have heavy periods, and I find it easier then. After birth again you bleed heavily and so I find it easier to have pubic hair short. That's just me though.

No hcp has ever mentioned it of their own accord but when asked they really don't care.

They also don't shave any more for c sections, I asked this week as due to placenta previa I may need one (hoping it moves as am only 21wks). As others have said shaving and waxing increases infection risk. Which is what I was told this week.

Do whatever makes you happy op but I must say the thought of having itchy regrowth after birth when everything is tender, bruised and generally a bit sore... Not for me.

I did actually check this morning after this discussion started as I was questioning myself!

They don't shave for emergency c sections or planned ones. It is not recommended due to infection risk.

Sal1977 As has been pointed out, they don't shave under any circumstances, and the rest of your description of this midwife's words is still rubbish. "as long as its tidy"? like they care! And the notion they have to rummage through long matted pubes to see what they need to. I don't believe a word of it.
No woman should feel they have to do anything to their pubes so as not to cause disgust to the midwife. Midwives are professionals - they don't care about your pubic hair, they can still see what they are doing.
