My husband asked me this last night. He said if you could somehow have a single 'day off' being pregnant (he reassured me you'd be pregnant again the next day and everything would be fine with the baby, this is a magical, hypothetical question!), what would you do?

I came up with:

  1. Bend down A LOT to make the most of being able to do it!
  2. Enjoy not stressing about how baby is / if that feeling is normal etc!
  3. Sleep to make the most of being comfortable!
  4. Eat really runny boiled eggs and some stinky blue cheese
  5. Go for a run
  6. Curl up on the sofa with my knees into my chest
  7. Have some really energetic sex (with him, obviously!!)

He pointed out that I missed out having a glass of wine, so I also added that on too!

Oh well, baby due in 6 weeks so hopefully after that I will be able to gradually start getting back to doing some of these things! (Number 7 might have to wait a bit!)

tappitytaptap · 16/10/2015 23:25

Spa day followed by lovely medium rare steak and lots of white wine and proper cocktails - not this fruit juice mocktail nonsense!

zannyminxoxox · 17/10/2015 23:32

Eat pate and drink port after a good sex session without feeling like an uncomfortable whale

CantWin · 18/10/2015 18:09

U can eat hard blue cheese like Stilton it says so on the NHS website!! But I would would drink prosecco and medium steak and brie lots of brie :)

SaltySeaBird · 18/10/2015 18:24

Hmm well this weekend I've run 5km, eaten Camembert (very hot) and enjoyed a very dippy (lion stamped) egg ...

If I had a day off though I'd go for a long run, come home and eat my body weight in toast and pate, put on my favourite jeans, enjoy having some energy, have a glass or several of nice wine and just enjoy a day free of worry, pain and stress. As a diabetic I'm struggling with insulin dosage at the moment. A day off would be nice!

TwllBach · 19/10/2015 13:11

I CAN EAT BLUE CHEEEEESEEEE??????

it's literally the only thing I miss!!!

That and horse riding...

ValancyJane · 19/10/2015 13:34

I would wear my skinny jeans and a nice top, drink a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc (or Prosecco, or Pinot Grigio, or all of the above!), eat a shameful amount of camembert and brie, possibly with some cured meat on the side, and spend the afternoon in a hot tub. And have sex without struggling with the mechanics/pillows!!

I love my baby, and am not finding pregnancy too hideous, but oh GOD that would be nice!!

CantWin · 19/10/2015 13:58

TwllBach yep according to NHS ;) just not soft blues I think x

PassiveAgressiveQueen · 19/10/2015 14:02

dog walking, i was so tired the whole 9 months

Euripidesralph · 19/10/2015 14:11

Oh thank you what a lovely daydream this morning :-)

I'd have a lovely large glass of rosé whilst eating pate on toast with brie and smoked salmon (err not on the same plate obv)

I confess I may have a single cigarette (I am NOT going back after this tho)

Plus I would eat without injecting insulin and sleep without itching

Ahhhhhh thank you OP that really helped for a moment lol

Oh and I'd run up the stairs because I could :-)

8 weeks to go for me although according to documents cps probably more like 6 ..., it's all completely worth it but this has felt a loong pregnancy:-)

fourlegstwolegs · 19/10/2015 14:50

Have runny eggs for breakfast
Go and gallop and jump stuff on my horse
Rag my car around a race track
Have a brie and grape sandwich
Shoot some clays
Have a rare steak
followed by a glass of port
then go to a party and get pissed!

CoffeeAndOranges · 19/10/2015 17:23

Ooh Valancy you reminded me of all the clothes in my wardrobe mocking me with their slims waists and skinny(ish) legs....just hoping I will be able to get back into them one day.... If I had a day off from being preggers I would definitely wear about 4 or 5 different outfits throughout the day!

And I would put on and take off as many different pairs of shoes as I can - it's such a struggle now at 35 weeks! And I would lounge around on the sofa, lying on my back, curled up on my side, knees to chest. Just because I can!

kirstyleighx · 20/10/2015 00:51

Lien on my belly eating loads of unhealthy food with a big glass of vodka ahah xxx

MamaDuckling · 20/10/2015 22:51

Great thread...

I'd wake up and go for a run, followed by a long hot shower then eggs benedict.

I'd leisurely window shop for myself rather than baby and make a note of all the things I'm after in the January sales, once baby is here but I will be housebound so reliant on the computer for sale shopping!

Then I'd meet DH for a long lunch, rare steak, blue cheese sauce, wine...

We might then catch an early movie (can't sit still that long now), and go for some cocktails but home for an early night (energetic bonk).

Sleepybeanbump · 21/10/2015 14:30

Go for a really really long heart-pumping brisk wall involving lots of hills. Then lie down on my front in a sauna eating blue cheese and drinking wine.

I've thought about this a lot. Dear gods I miss saunas and nice cheese.

Girlwithnoname1 · 21/10/2015 22:00

Eat pate- Brie- lots of stinky blue cheeses, drink a gallon of red wine, and go for a good gallop on the horse.

Girlwithnoname1 · 21/10/2015 22:01

Cheese seems to be a common theme here? Haha!! It's not just me that's seriously missing it then!

Southwestwhippet · 21/10/2015 22:11

Get pissed and take my horse cross country schooling. Possibly not in that order though!

SnozzberryPie · 21/10/2015 22:15

I'd go for a nice long walk in the countryside, ending at a pub where I would drink several pints of fine ale.

ThursdayLastWeek · 21/10/2015 22:19

I mostly eat all these things and still do the exercise I live.

What I would stop doing is randomly striding into the room DH is sitting in announcing 'algernon' or 'esmerelda' or 'lucille' or the like and expecting him to realise it's a name suggestion Grin

ThursdayLastWeek · 21/10/2015 22:22

Also, I hate to contradict honey but the fact the milk is patuerised in a Brie is irrelevant I'm afraid. It's the nature of all the soft cheeses to not be acidic enough to prevent bacteria from re-breeding.
This is also why its ok to eat Stilton - it's blue, but hard, so acidic enough to stay safe.

Saying that I personally eat all the cheese anyway Grin

Stylingwax · 21/10/2015 22:32

Shagging.

honeysucklejasmine · 21/10/2015 22:54

Thursday you meanie! Wink My midwife said pasteurised brie is OK. But then I know different parts of the country seem to say different things. Down here they say no runny eggs but I know others were told lion stamped is fine to gave runny... Ah well!

ThursdayLastWeek · 22/10/2015 07:16

honey I'm sorry, I hang my head in shame.
For what it's worth I believe food standards in the UK are so high you'd be hard pushed to get listeria from moderate consumption of any cheese.
For me I don't really consider it a risk, but I don't don't eat too much just in case Grin
