If you had a single 'day off' from being pregnant, how would you spend it?!

My husband asked me this last night. He said if you could somehow have a single 'day off' being pregnant (he reassured me you'd be pregnant again the next day and everything would be fine with the baby, this is a magical, hypothetical question!), what would you do?

I came up with:

  1. Bend down A LOT to make the most of being able to do it!
  2. Enjoy not stressing about how baby is / if that feeling is normal etc!
  3. Sleep to make the most of being comfortable!
  4. Eat really runny boiled eggs and some stinky blue cheese
  5. Go for a run
  6. Curl up on the sofa with my knees into my chest
  7. Have some really energetic sex (with him, obviously!!)

He pointed out that I missed out having a glass of wine, so I also added that on too!

Oh well, baby due in 6 weeks so hopefully after that I will be able to gradually start getting back to doing some of these things! (Number 7 might have to wait a bit!)

I suffer from hyperemesis so can barely eat/drink and on awful meds which constipate me and give me migraines.

I would eat a normal meal and hopefully enjoy it...and chug lots of water!! Ah bliss!

Have a day in Alton Towers and go on all the rides... Followed by all the water slides in Splash Landings...then have Camembert with bread, followed by a medium steak with peppercorn sauce and some strawberry dacquiris!

Hard game of squash (that I win)
Teleported to hills somewhere for decent walk with DH
Hot tub
Country pub for dinner. Get drunk.

Great thread! Smile

Are you not supposed to eat salami ?!

TwllBach · 15/10/2015 19:59

EAT
BLUE
CHEESE

CoffeeAndOranges · 15/10/2015 20:04

I think you can have it cooked e.g. on pizza, fizzle, you're just not supposed to have salami and other deli meats 'raw' because of the listeria risk. As long as it's hot through, it should be fine. Same goes for blue cheeses, squidgy ones etc. I had blue cheese in a risotto and on top of pizza recently (all home made) - it was lovely!

GiraffesAndButterflies · 15/10/2015 20:10

Oh god, I'd drink so much. I didn't mind for ages but now I swear I'm CRAVING white wine. Something really really dry.

With pasta carbonara to soak it up so I can then drink more. And then I'd lie on my back to sleep it off without feeling like someone's sitting on me.

Oh, and I'd be wearing sexy underwear including bras that fit.

Where do I sign up for this day off? Come back and kick and wriggle again tomorrow little soon-to-be DS... Grin

FizzlePops · 15/10/2015 20:22

Yuck hot salami. I ate a huge chunksome the other day, i didn't realise and this is the second pg for me.
Oh well Italians eat it all the time and they're fine.

LBOCS2 · 15/10/2015 20:31

I'm still eating salami. And Parma ham. And runny eggs. And rare steak. And sushi. I did last time around too. The majority of listeria cases are from unwashed salad, so I'm mostly just avoiding that Grin

But I'm not drinking. And I could really fancy a bottle of glass of prosecco. Followed up by maybe an amaretto on the rocks before bed.

I would also need someone to look after 2yo DD for me the next day as, like a PP, my hangovers are epic since my last pregnancy. Mostly I just lay on the sofa feeling extremely sorry for myself whilst trying not to hurl. Sexy times.

Flambola · 16/10/2015 04:06

To be honest I'd probably smoke a pack of ten menthol.

I'm so stressed out and I've been craving them terribly. However, the plan is to never smoke again so I won't be starting up again after this baby is born!

spacefrog35 · 16/10/2015 07:11

I'd eat chocolate. My tastebuds have wandered off and everything tastes odd. Sweet stuff is especially bleurgh and I love chocolate /weeps quietly at the thought of it Blush

docmcstuffins1 · 16/10/2015 07:11

What a great post!

I'd go on a long run then have a Brie and bacon sandwich in a little cafe somewhere!

Lovely hot tub and pampering session in the afternoon then pate followed by a really rare steak!

I may have a cheeky glass of prosecco. not really missing the alcohol though - much to my surprise!

CoffeeAndOranges · 16/10/2015 07:18

You can also have those glasses of dry white wine and prosecco now, folks! I had half a pint of real ale at the weekend, sipped over a good hour or so. It was fab.

Haven't really wanted wine but those mini bottles are great, you can have half one evening and the other half the next (or split with dh), about 1 unit per half mini bottle.

Of course I don't make a habit of it, but I have had the odd drink. Looking forward to being able to have more than a thimbleful though!

Tootsiepops · 16/10/2015 10:08

I have gestational diabetes so meals are very protein heavy at the moment. I would spend a day off eating cheesecake and sweets, washed down with glasses and glasses of cold prosecco. I'd also throw things on the floor just so that I could bend down and pick them up again. And I'd sleep it all off lying on my stomach tucked up in bed...

Only four more weeks to go...sigh!

MermaidVsSailor · 16/10/2015 10:48

Honestly I would just get really, really drunk. I've often found myself craving double vodka with energy drink for some reason Hmm

NoArmaniNoPunani · 16/10/2015 10:50

Get pissed and eat Brie

newbian · 16/10/2015 11:11

I would wash down a massive platter of blue/soft cheeses and charcuterie with an enormous quantity of good wine until I was stuffed and tipsy.

AmyLouKin · 16/10/2015 11:16

I don't really drink so don't miss the booze but I would love to have an indigestion free day eating smoked salmon, cheeses etc! Also would be lovely to eat a nice big meal again! Smile

babybat · 16/10/2015 12:53

Go horse riding - preferably a good, fast beach ride. I stopped at 16 weeks, but between 10-16 weeks my instructor pretty much forbid me from cantering anyway. I miss riding so much and even when the baby's born it's unlikely that I'll be able to ride that often as we won't have the money.

Then a hot tub/jacuzzi to soothe my muscles, followed by a big plate of soft and blue cheeses, some pate, red wine and port. Bliss!

honeysucklejasmine · 16/10/2015 12:58

The brie sold in Aldi (gold paper) is pasteurised.

Just so you can go and buy some right now know. Smile

sepa · 16/10/2015 13:49

Bonfire night. It's celebrated rather large where I live in East Sussex. (I like drinking way too much at the celebration) also a bacon and Brie sandwich. Medium rare steak.

dizzylemon · 16/10/2015 15:01

Fruli. And a nice bloody steak with a blue cheese sauce and a cheese platter with brie.

ispyfispi · 16/10/2015 15:17

Ooh are you near me Sepa?!

ButtonMoon88 · 16/10/2015 15:21

Spend all day eating cake and getting drunk, then ordering a pizza, sober up, and walk to pub. I gave birth 9months ago and still miss alcohol dreadfully!

EdgarAllenPoe · 16/10/2015 15:51

I'd ride all the rollercoasters and eat still bleeding steak!
